My two favorites are 'The Eagle Has Landed" and 'Dallas 1pm". I really like the live versions on 'Rock N Roll Gypsies"

I am going to agree with 'Won't Get Fooled Again'....when you think of screams in rock n roll songs that is the first that comes to mind. I think a close second is the scream from Bruce Dickinson at the beginning of "The Number Of The Beast", and then Paul Di'Anno's screams in the songs "Wrathchild" and the beginning of "Killers"

I go through stages with my cd's where I sell them and then rebuy the same albums later. I have done this with old Kiss alot. I would not, and never have bought anything newer than 'Destroyer'
I would by some of the old Queensryche stuff again....but I gave up on them after 'Empire'
Not interested in modern Deep Purple....although I want to get a copy of 'Gillan's Inn'.

I actually thought there was some really good stuff on 'Dead Again' and '9'. I think you are right though that 'In The Shadows' was better. The song 'Egypt' alone was worth the price of the album....and the whole album was good. I don't get the sense that Mercyful Fate is going to put out another album anytime soon if at all.

not gonna quote any lyrics....but I like alot of The Police stuff.
Iron Maiden's lyrics would just draw you in like novel. Some of my favorite lyrics by them are : 'Sanctuary', 'Phantom Of The Opera", "Running Free", "Killers", "Remember Tomorrow" "Children Of The Damned" "22 Acacia Ave." , "The Prisoner' ,"Hallowed Be Thy Name"....you now what I am gonna stop there with Maiden because I will be writing all day.
Early Judas Priest, especailly stuff like "Victim Of Changes" "Beyond The Realms Of Death", "The Rage", etc...
Of coarse Dylan had great lyrics, but the one that stands out for me is 'Masters Of War'
I always loved what Paul McCartney did in The Beatles lyrically. He was a great storyteller and wrote stuff that actually meant something. Some of my favorite lyrics by him are songs like 'She Came In through The Bathroom Window', 'Rocky Racoon', 'Hey Jude', 'Eleanor Rigby', etc. His stuff with The Wings was great to.
Roger Waters almost goes without saying, especially with Floyd.
I think that John Mellancamp had alot of lyrics that meant something to everyday people. Stuff that you really could relate to.
Johnny Cash...nuff said there

Schenker is a classic example of someone who refuses to take responsibility for his own actions. He can't even take ownership of his own band. So he relies on a manager/s that have been rippiing him off for years. Schenker claims to be honest with his fans yet he contradicts himself all the time. he even initially lied to the fans about why the U.S. tour was going to be cancelled and then the real truth came out in the email exchange between himself and his singer....which he posted!....what an idiot. The guy is nuts and needs help. This behavior manifested in him as early on(as far as we know) as the old UFO days.

Ozzy up until 'No Rest For The Wicked' after that I thought he sucked. Still a good live show however.... Dio....for about three albums anyway...didn't really like much after the Campbell era.
Bruce Dickinson....still putting out solid albums
Michael Schenker up until 'Rock Will Never Die', but that was really another band....I don't consider him really a solo artist at that point, because the whole band wrote and helped in the arrangements. MSG up until 1984 was alot like UFO.
Ted Nugent after the Amboy Dukes. He is much more known as a solo artist. Even though the Amboy Dukes got him on the map....that part of his career is relativley obscure.
Paul McCartney is still a great solo artist
Robert Plant put out some great solo albums for along time.
Never was that big on Clapton as a solo artist. I like a song here and there....but nothing he does solo will ever touch Cream
Don't like Uli Roth outside of the Scorpions. He really isn't very good outside of a band situation(don't mean as a player, more his songcraft). I understand he is spiritual and had to follow his heart, but he should have never sang a note and I really don't get his music.

Good read. I understand what Steve is saying about touring....but I think their should be more than 8 dates in the U.S. But what can you do....personally I am hoping on a flight from New Orleans to Los Angeles on October 18th to catch Maiden in Irvine on Oct. 21st and I can't wait.

One of my favorite bands. J.B. has got to be one of the best singers out there now. He is also a great guitar player in his other band Grand Magus. Michael Ammot is just a great songwriter and guitar player.
I have 'Ad Astra' 'On Fire' and 'Demons' Musically 'Ad Astra' is very good but I am not big on the original singer Spice. Vocally he lacks the fire and growl of current singer J.B. 'On Fire' is an amazing record that sounds very close to Deep Purple or early Rainbow. 'Demons' is another great album that sounds like a cross between Deep Purple and 'Sabotage' era Sabbath. Both are future classics.

I never really liked the 'Freebird ' solo that much....way too long. I prefered to more obscure Skynyrd stuff solo wise and songwise. For me it was always stuff like "Poison Whiskey". "On The Hunt", "Junkie", "I know A Little",etc.
'No More Tears' is in no way close to the best solo on an Ozzy song....you would have to tap into the Randy or Jake era stuff for that.
But...I never put much into these lists anyway....they never sum up how I looked at anything....

I think Magni fits best. He has a great voice, looks the part, and seems cool as hell. I think Dilana is ok, but here performance tonight(Psycho Killer) was God awful. I think she is sort of a poseur to...she looks punk or hardcore but her influences are pop, and she is not really familiar with alot of classics.
I felt from the start Magni was the guy....I also think he would add the most to the band.
Btw I was suprised the Ryan got the boot instead if Storm tonight. I wonder what the rational behind that was? I also didn't think Ryan was very gracious about it.
I also am starting to think Lucas sucks....he or Storm should be thenext to go.

I think they are both great singers...but I think Halford had a larger great body of work with Priest as well as Fight and the two Halford albums. I loved Dio era Rainbow and Sabbath and the first two Dio records were great. It's close but I had to go with Halford.

...who are they kiddin.....they couldn't book a Helloween tour in the U.S. That's a shocker. Why...because your average 15-25 year old doesn't know who the F*CK Helloween is and the majority of the U.S. fans that liked them in the mid to late 80's realizes that it is not the same band anymore. Nothing on the band themselves....they aren't bad these days and I might go see them out of curiousity, but I don't think there is much of a market left in the U.S. for that band. Now Iron Maiden can still sell out arenas here...they just choose not to because I don't think they really give a damn about the U.S. market. So I have to fly out to L.A. to see them

I remember I bought Fates Warning's 'Awaken The Guardian' when it came out soley because th ecover was awesome. This was on vinyl to, so the cover was even cooler. Fortunaltley the album was every bit as good as the cover.
Same with Fifth Angel's first album when it was rereleased on Epic records. The cover with the Angle with red eyes who looked alot like Steve Vai. That was a cool album to.
One album I never bought because the cover was so bad was the first Flotsam and Jetsam album with Newsted. Had one of the worst covers ever. Almost as bad as Fates Warning's 'Night On Brocken' album. Turned out the Flotsam and Jetsam record had some cool shit on it. I did buy their second album because it had a great cover. 'No Place For Disgrace' is a thrash metal classic.
Asia records had great covers....too bad the music was a little boring.....

THe second one was 'Scamboogery'...I didn't think it was bad musically....but lyrically it was sort of rehash of the first....just silly shit.
I loved 'Down With the Ships' on the first album.
Both guitar players were real good. Paul Neider and Glen Cummings
