My predictions for the Wild Card were mixed...I had:
The Colts over the Texans Seahawks over The Cowboys
The Chargers over The Ravens The Eagles against The Bears was one was not sure about....I was going for the Eagles....they had the better offense but that Bears Defense is a killer.....I just was not sure. Glad The Bears lost.

Yeah I think it is Helloween playing outside the box and trying to be current at the time.....I think that album caused a rift between Kiske and Weikath. My favorite Helloween albums are the first 3 with Hansen, but the two albums with Kiske after Hansen left I think are still good. 'Pink Bubbles Go Ape' also has some great songs.
Last two days:
Sanctuary-Into The Mirror Black.....great band and great record.
Iron Maiden-Book Of Souls Live Chapter....excellent live album with each song from a different city. Exact same track list as the set list from the tour.

Looking forward to Vivian Campbell and Last In Line's new album. I liked the first album quite a bit and I am a big fan of Vivian. His last album with the Riverdogs was really good to. Also Last In Line's singer Andrew Freeman is also the new singer for Lies, Deceit and Treachery....which is Mick Sweda, Lonny Vincent, and Jimmy D'Anda of the Bulletboys. I was a fan of the first two Bulletboys albums and also a fan of Mick Sweda as a player.....so I am hoping these guys release something soon.
Accept is supposed to be working on a new album....but original bassist, cofounder and songwriter Peter Baltes left that band...which is a huge loss. Still will be curious about a new album from them.
Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen have returned to Helloween and now they are a seven piece band. They release one new song and toured. Would like to hear a new album from them in 2019. I don't care for any of the albums after Kiske left in the 90's. I was a huge fan of the Hansen and Kiske eras....so having them back renews my interest. Hoping they put out a new album in the new year.
New Candlemass album is supposed to come out in February. I am a fan of their bass players other projects like Doomsday Kingdom and Avatarium....so I am interested in hearing new music from them. Apparently their original singer is back.

I forgot that Fleetwood Mac was inducted already.....but I still think Nicks should get in as a solo artist because she along with Pat Benatar opened to doors for a lot of female rock artists. As a solo artist I think she was pretty influential as least for a couple albums. I also love the work she did with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It was only a couple of songs...they should have done a whole album together.
Having said all that....one thing that does bother me about the HOF inducting her as a solo artist is that Joe Walsh is still not in as a solo artist. Only as a member of the The Eagles. Joe Walsh should have been in many years ago and his solo career was certainly more influential and prolific than Stevie Nicks. Nothing against Nicks.....but Walsh had many hit songs and successful solo albums. I think his work as a solo artist was better than what he did with the Eagles....and better than the Eagles as a whole. It is also odd that The James Gang are not in.....but The HOF is inducting The Zombies. Scratching my head over that.....but it is the Rock N Roll HOF...nothing about that institution makes sense...

Yesteryday:
Helloween-Chameleon....actually has some good songs and is a good album.....just not what you expected from Helloween
Gary Moore-Run For Cover(reissue)....one of my favorite Gary Moore albums. Some good bonus tracks to...Murder in the Skies live, Still in Love With You w/Phil Lynott and Stop Messin' Around Live w/Lynott

Def Leppard deserve to be there for sure. 'Pyromania' and 'Hysteria' were huge albums. I love the first 3 Def Leppard albums and 'Hysteria' has some good songs and production wise it was fairly groundbreaking. Also, Vivian Campbell deserves to be inducted with them. Even though I could care less about the Leppard albums he is on....he has been in that band 26 years and done the time and recorded 6 albums with the band. Pete Willis also deserves to be there. Willis founded the band, cowrote many of the songs on the first 3 albums and played on all three records. I also think Pete Willis was the best guitarist Leppard had on those first 3 releases. His playing on 'High And Dry' kicked ass.
Janet Jackson....uhhh no. Not Rock n roll.....put her in the pop or RNB HOF if they ever have one. So many classic artists still not in but they choose to put her in....makes no sense other than to appease fans of hers and that genre....and sell tickets to the HOF museum.
Radiohead I can get on board with....but I think it's too soon. They are a very influential band....but look how long it took the HOF to induct Rush and Deep Purple.....and Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are still getting snubbed because they are Heavy Metal Bands. Other than that I have no real issue with inducting Radiohead. At least they are actually good.
Stevie Nicks....yes of course. Her work as a solo artist and with Fleetwood Mac insure she should be there
Roxy Music I know a couple songs and realize they were fairly influential. I have no problem with them being there.....but again I think there are more relevant and influential acts than them who still are not in the HOF
The Zombies....fuck no. They had one song...oh wait two hit songs. Sorry that is not even close to being enough. How many artists claim The Zombies were an influence. How many people do you know that are huge Zombies fans?
Devo I would totally be on board with. Great band. But probably not the mass appeal and they really only had one hit.....still they were more influential than the fucking Zombies!

Yeah I actually watched the Raiders game. in typical fashion they go down and score on the first drive and then are inept for the second and 3rd quarters. Something woke them up in the 4th....not sure what. But before the 4th quarter I was cursing Derek Carr. He somehow redeemed himself late. The Raiders actually fought it out. Big dumb Ben is 0-4 in Oakland.
Not sure how the Pats gave up that last second TD on the laterals.....and then Pittsburgh almost did that to the Raiders. The Bears Defense looks good but their offense still sucks. I still thing The Saints are going to go all the way this season. The road to the Super Bowl definitely goes through New Orleans. No AFC team looks as strong either. The rest of the season will be interesting for sure.

Cool I will check those movies out....you have me curious. "the Cube" almost seems like it could have been an influence on whoever wrote the Saw series of movies. Similar premise.

Kind of a bizarre football season. The Raiders are just pure shit....I think they are tanking the season to get better picks next year. Hopefully Gruden has a plan to rebuild that team. Right now I am just rooting for the Saints. I think they actually are the best team in the NFL right now. Brees is on fire. The road to the Superbowl in the NFC goes through New Orleans. I don't really see anyone beating them. They now have a running game, which makes Brees even more dangerous and in the last few weeks their defense looks good. I would love to see Brees get another ring this year. I just hope he doesn't retire if he does. I want to see him break more records.

Was The Cube movie the one where a bunch of strangers wake up in this cube structure and it is booby trapped and they have to find a way out? I saw that movie years ago and thought it was interesting. Some pretty violent and bizarre death scenes in that one. Not familiar with the Now You See Me movies or Tag.

I actually saw the latest 'Halloween' movie at the theater and enjoyed it. My only issue with that sequel is that it is only the sequel to the first movie and disregards 'Halloween II' ....which in my opinion was a mistake to do. Part II was the same night as the original movie and still very good.
I thought the sequel to Blade Runner was very good. I am hoping Harrison Ford does a 3 rd movie. The Remake of 'IT' was good...and pretty scary. Black Panther and the last Avengers movies were also very good.

haha.....sorry....I was actually in Peru for 3 weeks. I had my computer but wasn't on it that much. I have been thinking about this thread though.....the one song that comes to mind is the Sabbath song "All Moving Parts(Stand Still)" off 'Technical Ecstasy'.....the song starts out killer....with a badass groove....and then this bridge section kind of comes out of nowhere and kind of kills the vibe. Fortunately it goes back to that initial verse section but the rest of the song just sounds thrown together and the song as a whole has no continuity. The last half of "Dirty Women" off the same album is kind of similar. First half of the song is great and then at the end it switches gears and isn't as cool.....and then it just goes on for too long...

Nice thread Jesse...I am going to have to think about this one. I know there are songs which I wish were longer or had an extra verse or chorus in them. Van Halen's "House of Pain" comes to mind. I wish there was another verse and chorus in that one. All the parts in that song are cool though. I will get back to you on this one....

Never quite got into Stryper. Recently, a friend gave me a shitload of cassettes that included several Stryper albums. Much better than I ever gave them credit for, but they seem to always have one or two Sunday school songs per album Yeah there were usually 2 songs per album I didn't care for like the sappy, uninteresting ballads. Ballads are fine if the have an edge like "Alone Again" by Dokken or "You're All I Need" by Motley Crue.....but Sweet just wrote boring chick ballads....like he was serenading someone. But anyway.....as a whole Stryper's albums were solid. The first EP 'The Yellow And Black Attack' is great because its 6 songs with no ballads.

Some good choices Jesse.....I would have included Judas Priest in the mix....but Glenn Tipton is no longer touring and KK is out of the band. Faulkner is great but I would want to see the classic lineup do either 'Defenders Of The Faith', 'Stained Class', 'Screaming..' or 'Hell Bent For Leather'.
Stryper doing 'To Hell WIth The Devil' live would be cool.....just not crazy about the piano ballads "Honestly" and "All Of Me".....those songs are filler and throw aways in my opinion. Never understood Michael Sweet's penchant for writing and recording songs like that. Waste of album space...

I saw Iron Maiden in 2006 in Irvine, Ca. It was on the tour for 'A Matter of Life and Death'....which I thought was an excellent album. They actually played that album in it's entirety from start to finish and I did not expect that. It was a bold move to do that with their new album.....but I loved it. They played that album and then 5 classic songs. I heard a few people complaining on the way out of the venue after the show. Not me. I enjoyed the hell out that show. Iron Maiden is my favorite band and I actually would like to see them do a tour where they revisit an entire album...and I also would like to see other bands do that as well. Here would be my choices:
Iron Maiden-Piece of Mind and Powerslave Helloween-Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I and II (with Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen) King Diamond-Abigail MercyFul Fate-Don't Break The Oath Queensryche-Rage For Order(With Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate) Fates Warning_Awaken The Guardian with the lineup from that album(They did this at Prog Power USA and in Germany...and released the live album....I just wish I had seen it) MSG-Assault Attack( With Graham Bonnet, Ted McKenna and Chris Glen) Europe-Wings Of Tomorrow David Lee Roth- Eat'em and Smile(with the original band) Flotsam and Jetsam-No Place For Disgrace Armored Saint-Delirious Nomad

That's the way I feel.....those dudes have a lot of talent....but they need to find their own voice. They are banking on sounding like Zeppelin.

Most of my music is through Amazon. They make it easier with Amazon Prime. Free 2 day shipping and I can find most of what I am looking for. Having said that....since moving back to Raleigh in December of 2007, I have bought a significant amount of music at my local record store called School Kids. School Kids has been around since the 80's and they have 2 stores left. I used to shop at the one in Wilmington in the 90's in my college days. The Raleigh location is great. They moved locations about 4 years ago to a shopping center near NC State(they used to be across the street from the main campus). Since moving to the Mission Valley shopping center they serve draft beer which pretty much seals the deal for me. I go in there 1 to 2 times a week, have 3 or 4 beers and buy stuff on a whim. There used selection of CD's is pretty big and they have a lot of new and used vinyl. They do carry new cds as well. It's a great place to hang during the day and I am friends with the staff. Sometimes I just go in and drink a few beers and laugh and joke with the staff and regulars. Sometimes I will get free promo cd's.....recently I was given the new Steve Perry CD before it was released and I also got the new Slash promo copy the day they got it.
So I would say 60-70% of my music is bought on Amazon and most of the rest is School Kids. Occasionally I walk into FYE in the mall and buy something. FYE still has a decent metal section. Oh yeah I forgot....if I am looking for something that is hard to find or out of print I buy on Discogs......you can pretty much find anything on there. There will be a shipping charge and many times you have to get it from Europe, Russia or Asia but usually the shipping is not outrageous. I have bought many hard to find CD's and vinyl there. Ebay is still an option to for that sort of thing also.

Yeah the Pats just desecrated the Dolphins. My brother, sister in law, niece, cousins and uncle were all up at that game. All of them huge Pats fans. Although my brother is like me....Raiders first...haha. Anyway the Raiders finally pulled out a win in OT against the Browns....who were supposed to have a strong defense. The second half of that game(especially the 4th quarter) was a nail bitting shootout. I was on the edge of my seat. I had all but given up on Oakland when all Cleveland had to do was get a first down late in the 4th. Upon further review they didn't make it and Oakland scored a TD and 2 point conversion in the final minute of the game to tie it at 42. I will have to give Gruden and The Raiders credit for not giving up. Some bizarre calls in that game including Marshawn Lynch getting the whistle blown after breaking a tackle and running free.....which would have been a TD in the first half. Bullshit call. It's Marshawn Lynch....he doesn't give up and that whistle was blown waaaayyy to early. But anyway....it was a tough win but I will take it. I hope this the start of a turnaround for Oakland.
That Falcons and Bengals game was also a shootout. Was watching that game and the Pats game at the same time. Ryan is one of my fantasy QB's and it's a good thing I started him. I also finally got to see a Saints game. Dree Brews is my favorite player....and probably my second favorite player of all time behind Stabler. I love watching that guy play. He is showing no signs of age.

Thanks Jesse! Great score on the Waylon Tele. Those guitars look cool. I am a big Waylon fan myself. He was my favorite country artist. Loved his songs and he was a great guitar player. One of these days I am going to own a Telecaster. They actually are great sounding rock guitars. Those bridge pickups are pretty beefy sounding single coils. Congrats on scoring that as well!
