For me it's Amazon. And a little bit of iTunes for single song downloads. I miss the days of scouring through the bins of record stores, but the truth is: I don't have time for that anymore. Much easier to just point and click my music purchases. And, if it ain't available on Amazon, it probably isn't available anywhere.
How about you?

Most of my music is through Amazon. They make it easier with Amazon Prime. Free 2 day shipping and I can find most of what I am looking for. Having said that....since moving back to Raleigh in December of 2007, I have bought a significant amount of music at my local record store called School Kids. School Kids has been around since the 80's and they have 2 stores left. I used to shop at the one in Wilmington in the 90's in my college days. The Raleigh location is great. They moved locations about 4 years ago to a shopping center near NC State(they used to be across the street from the main campus). Since moving to the Mission Valley shopping center they serve draft beer which pretty much seals the deal for me. I go in there 1 to 2 times a week, have 3 or 4 beers and buy stuff on a whim. There used selection of CD's is pretty big and they have a lot of new and used vinyl. They do carry new cds as well. It's a great place to hang during the day and I am friends with the staff. Sometimes I just go in and drink a few beers and laugh and joke with the staff and regulars. Sometimes I will get free promo cd's.....recently I was given the new Steve Perry CD before it was released and I also got the new Slash promo copy the day they got it.
So I would say 60-70% of my music is bought on Amazon and most of the rest is School Kids. Occasionally I walk into FYE in the mall and buy something. FYE still has a decent metal section. Oh yeah I forgot....if I am looking for something that is hard to find or out of print I buy on Discogs......you can pretty much find anything on there. There will be a shipping charge and many times you have to get it from Europe, Russia or Asia but usually the shipping is not outrageous. I have bought many hard to find CD's and vinyl there. Ebay is still an option to for that sort of thing also.

Discogs? I'll have to check that out. Still have a few albums I'm looking for on CD that I haven't been able to find yet. I've bought on Ebay in the past and there are still a few good record/CD stores in my area, but, again, I just don't have the time anymore to go browse the stores. I'll tell you what though: Me being a Southern Rock fan in the late 1980's and early 1990's, it was a true scavenger hunt trying to find Southern Rock albums in any format! And nothing quite beats that high of going to a record store, new or used, and finding (and being able to hold in your hands, right then and there) an album you only heard about before or maybe even never knew existed!
