I am excited about the 2018 Season. I missed the first game between the Eagles and The Falcons because I was playing a gig Thursday night. I am excited to see if my Oakland Raiders can bounce back from a disappointing 2017 Season. I am very curious how Jon Gruden will do and if he is worth the hype. I love the guy....loved him in his initial tenure and loved him as an analyst on ESPN.....but lets face it, his record as an NFL coach was fairly average. I think he comes back into the league with a new perspective. I think being an analyst for all those years will help. I think he has the fire to get the Raiders back on track.
I am also really looking forward to watching Drew Brees and the Saints and Brady and the Pats. Both at the twilight of their careers but not showing much signs of slowing down. I like Brady a lot and and probably should be considered the greatest of all time.....but Brees...even though he has only one SB ring has done more for his team than just about anyone(not counting SB wins of coarse). He single handedly wins games with mediocre offenses. Now he has a running game which makes him harder to predict. It will be an interesting season for sure. I also hope Derek Carr can bounce back from a lackluster 2017 Season. He has the skills, I just hope Gruden get him back to doing what he can do.

I've been sorta "meh" about football the last few years. That despite the fact that my favorite team, the Seahawks, managed to get to 2 Super Bowls in that time and won one of them. I dunno, it's getting like baseball in that players move from one team to another so frequently that it's hard to keep track of who's playing where. Also, the game has changed SOOOOO much. I didn't even realize how much it changed until a few years ago, I watched a recorded game from 1993 (I used to video tape games that I was interested in back then) and....wow! It's a totally different game anymore. Tight formations, QB under center except for 3rd and long situations. emphasis on those big offensive lines, teams ran to set up the pass. Now, the QB is playing from the shotgun 75% of the time, offenses are spread out and teams pass first to set up the run later. The running game is no longer about bowling the defense over, it's about spreading the defense out and finding holes. Now, these changes make for some exciting games, I'll admit. Scores that resemble a college basketball game, comebacks that seemed insurmountable, passing records breaking left and right. It IS still an enjoyable game to watch, but I do miss those games where a team just rams the ball down the defense's throat and/or those defensive games where neither offense can seem to gain any ground and the game ends 7-3. That said, I would like to see Brady break Manning's passing records (might have to wait until next year for that.... unless Brees does it first). Even if he doesn't, he is still the GOAT. 8 Super Bowls, 5 wins with very few Hall Of Famers around him (Seriously, compare how many Hall Of Famers Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana played with compared to Brady). I'd like to see Brees win one more Super Bowl as well. Hoe the Raiders do good with Gruden, not sure if he can do it, but we'll see. All hinges on Carr staying healthy. My Seahawks might be toast. The Legion of Boom is gone and their offensive line holds back the pass rush only slightly better than a barrier made of wet toilet paper. Fans are starting to rag on Russell Wilson, but without him, they may not have won a single game last year. The fact that they won 9 shows how great a player he is. Gotta protect the guy and give him some weapons and he might be able o win another ring.

I agree about Brady big time....he is a great leader and just an amazing QB. He is the GOAT by far. I also agree about Brees....up until last year he never had a running game. Brees single handedly wins games....if he had more SB wins he would be in the GOAT conversation.
I really hope Gruden does well this year. I have been a die hard Raider fan since the days of Ken Stabler(my favorite player of all time). Last Monday night they hung in there with a better team until the second half....and Carr just fell apart. He needs to get it together....he looked more like David Carr out there. Interesting first week of football. That Packers/Bears game was a game that will go down in history....Rodgers is not human...

Had to work last Monday night, so I missed the Raiders game. Just saw the final score and assumed they sucked the entire game. I did see the Bears/Packers game and, yeah, that was one for the ages! Seemed like the Packers (and Rodgers) were just playing a little cat and mouse with the Bears letting them think they were going to come out of there with a win before shredding them in the 2nd half.

It's been a rough 3 weeks for the Raiders. They can't score in the 4th quarter. The last two weeks they just threw the game away. Not sure whats going on with the Pats either. At least Dew Brees is on fire. The Rams may be the best offense in football. They beat the Vikings tonight but barely. The Rams Defense gave up a lot of points. If they hadn't I would have said they may be the best team in football.

Pats are back! Eagles may have to admit now that Nick Foles wasn't the reason for their sluggish start.

Yeah the Pats just desecrated the Dolphins. My brother, sister in law, niece, cousins and uncle were all up at that game. All of them huge Pats fans. Although my brother is like me....Raiders first...haha. Anyway the Raiders finally pulled out a win in OT against the Browns....who were supposed to have a strong defense. The second half of that game(especially the 4th quarter) was a nail bitting shootout. I was on the edge of my seat. I had all but given up on Oakland when all Cleveland had to do was get a first down late in the 4th. Upon further review they didn't make it and Oakland scored a TD and 2 point conversion in the final minute of the game to tie it at 42. I will have to give Gruden and The Raiders credit for not giving up. Some bizarre calls in that game including Marshawn Lynch getting the whistle blown after breaking a tackle and running free.....which would have been a TD in the first half. Bullshit call. It's Marshawn Lynch....he doesn't give up and that whistle was blown waaaayyy to early. But anyway....it was a tough win but I will take it. I hope this the start of a turnaround for Oakland.
That Falcons and Bengals game was also a shootout. Was watching that game and the Pats game at the same time. Ryan is one of my fantasy QB's and it's a good thing I started him. I also finally got to see a Saints game. Dree Brews is my favorite player....and probably my second favorite player of all time behind Stabler. I love watching that guy play. He is showing no signs of age.

Kind of a bizarre football season. The Raiders are just pure shit....I think they are tanking the season to get better picks next year. Hopefully Gruden has a plan to rebuild that team. Right now I am just rooting for the Saints. I think they actually are the best team in the NFL right now. Brees is on fire. The road to the Superbowl in the NFC goes through New Orleans. I don't really see anyone beating them. They now have a running game, which makes Brees even more dangerous and in the last few weeks their defense looks good. I would love to see Brees get another ring this year. I just hope he doesn't retire if he does. I want to see him break more records.

Weird season, that's for sure. The Eagles don't look anything like the team that lit the league on fire last year. Falcons are also pure shit after making the playoffs last year. Cowboys all of a sudden are hot! Made the Saints look rather pedestrian last week. Bears took down the Rams this week. Chiefs look good, but Andy Reid-coached teams always look good during the regular season, then piddle out in the playoffs. Patriots may have come back down to Earth, but will still win the division and probably end up in the Super Bowl again. Seahawks are starting to wake up after a year and a half of just letting Russell Wilson play chuck and duck. Raiders goofed up and actually won this weekend! I do think it was their plan to tank this season. Their magnitude of suck is just too great to not think they are phoning in the season on purpose.

Yeah I actually watched the Raiders game. in typical fashion they go down and score on the first drive and then are inept for the second and 3rd quarters. Something woke them up in the 4th....not sure what. But before the 4th quarter I was cursing Derek Carr. He somehow redeemed himself late. The Raiders actually fought it out. Big dumb Ben is 0-4 in Oakland.
Not sure how the Pats gave up that last second TD on the laterals.....and then Pittsburgh almost did that to the Raiders. The Bears Defense looks good but their offense still sucks. I still thing The Saints are going to go all the way this season. The road to the Super Bowl definitely goes through New Orleans. No AFC team looks as strong either. The rest of the season will be interesting for sure.
