Difficult choice here as there are a number of the tracks listed that I could have easily went with. I picked ELO simply because, although it was and most likely is considered a "disco" kind of tune, I still find an orchestral semblance to the tune that separates it from others. I realize that the album that it originated from contained a number of "disco" like tunes, but I'd have to say that Lynne and Co. was pretty much at the time carrying on with the music that they had been attuned to over the previous decade...pop and disco included. "Confusion" is a great track in my opinion...not to mention the old standby "Don't Bring Me Down"... Overall...a nice little release. Thanks Kim

Chip here with the weather... Weeellllll folks...looks like another gloomy day on the weather front...warm front moving in from the midwest, snow forcast for the Northerly parts of the US with the exception of the Eastern seaboard which can expect rising temps due to the influx of warm air from the South...extending beyond the US / Canuck border which should witness possible rain activity and milder temps along the way for the next 3 to 5 days. Break out those I Pods and get walking!!!...bring an umbrella!... Over to Mean Speedy Gene for the sports report... ;D Thanks Kim

If it is that Cure song...Man, that song always made me feel a lil sick. I always hated the Cure. I found it, look above at my update. ;D Never would have considered The Clash...wow! What a nice little number!...almost like an "anthem" in scope...? I guess I was too busy listening to Tull, Kate Bush, Flock of Seagulls, and a whole whack of others back in the day to miss this one...? Nahhhh...Canuckville just didn't have the time to play it for us back then I suspect!!!...DOH!!!!! Gawd...I love this board! Thanks to the folks that took a moment to read my post. Most of all...thank you Rik for finding that one for me!!! Thanks Kim

I was watching PBS the other night and they were playing a tune as part of their promotional lineup and it kind of piqued my interest...
The lyrics go something like..."monday tuesday wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday...what have we done"...and then they repeat the same, whether or not it's looped or not is beyond me?
The beat kind of got my attention and I'd liken it to something that Green Day would do, but I don't know???
Anyone out there familiar with the the tune?
Thanks Kim

It's in the rule book somewhere. ;D I agree. That's why I, for one opted out on the last few "giveaways"...simply to see who had the audacity to put their names in...those that couldn't take a moment to at least respond to a post, let alone start one of their own!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, it's real easy to sign up for a "freebie", but a tad more difficult to spend a moment or two to post a thread here on this great site...one that Rik and Sandi are willing to hand out some great "stuff" for huh? Easy to come in and say "Count ME IN!"...but what do you leave the rest of us with? Yeah, I'll be the first one to admit...I've posted some pretty silly threads here...and for the most part, some that are just ridiculous polls...but let me tell you this...some of them have generated some feedback, albeit mediocre, it can still be considered as "FEEDBACK" and that is what this site needs and depends on. Hell, I'll even admit that for the most part, my stupid contributions are not even worthy of being considered...try as I may to get folks like Speedy, Rocknut, Jesse, and a whole cast of the other regs here to respond in making mention of their names...NO COMMENTS in return...I understand that. Thing is, I'm a goof!. I know that! HOWEVER...this is the part I play here to at least pad my part in helping to keep this great board alive. Who knows?...maybe I'm making things worse??? Trump me! Make this the site that is as great as it's meant to be! Come up with some insightful threads!!! All of you wacky bastards know me from that "other board" that we came from...so, do not, for a minute, think that this one has been diluted because of my presence... I was invited as the same person that left that "other site". C'mon folks, lets keep this great site going. There will be many prizes to be offered...and many winners to be recognized...especially if you start a thread or two along the way.................... Think of it this way...it's YOUR site...post what you want and what you feel...It doesn't matter how silly, ridiculous, or sublime it may appear to you...guarenteed...someone will respond...and bottom line...WE ARE ALL WINNERS HERE!!! "Giveaways Will Start Again"...HA!!!... What about "Giving Back" to a great site that gave you so much to begin with!!!!!!!!! Let's see some simple and easy chatter folks!...Now that's FREE!!!!!! Sorry Rik...just needed to vent there for a second... Thanks Kim

I really enjoyed tuning in to Boston Legal until it's finale back in December. Good run and I think they left before it started getting old. The only other regular network type show that I tune into if I can is "House". The beginning of this season almost found me losing interest, but it appears to have picked up a bit in regards to the story lines as of late, so I'll stick it out. HBO's "True Blood" is pretty good and of course, as with most of their offerings, you get the nagging feeling that they'll 86' the damn thing just when they have you hooked...bastards! Other than that, I'm usually cruising the Civilization, Geography, Book, TLC, or Discovery channels for something that keeps my interest for the entire hour whether it's the "Plight of the Pygmy Population in Portugal" or the "Secret Sex Life of the Two-Peckered Owl From Turkey"... The reality based shows just make me ill. The NCIS / CIS brand of shows put me to sleep. I used to enjoy listening to Glenn Beck "beak off" on a nightly basis on HLN as it was current and controversial. It appears they turfed his butt with little notice to him or his viewers...hahahaha...replacing him with Jane Velez Mitchell...*yawn*... Then you have Nancy Grace, singlehandedly trying to solve the Caylee case since last summer... I just may have to go through and lighten the load channel wise because in all fairness, I'm just not getting my money's worth with the current lineup I'm paying for these days. Thanks Kim

I almost voted for "Faster Pussycat" because I've referred to my beloved feline in that manner in the past...however, since I'm not familiar with their music and really can't say that any of the others turn my crank, I have to graciously bow out of the voting on this one...just the kinda guy I "are"! ;D
Thanks Faster Kimbaman

I haven't really checked in to this feature lately and I recall when I first connected to the net back in 99', there were offerings of "streaming music" deemed as radio stations back then but it kinda had a tendency to hamper the performance of my slow puter at the time. Needless to say, it didn't really last long for me. These days, the whole web radio thing has made great strides, not only in it's delivery, but choices as well. A friend of mine gave me the heads up on one recently and I thought I'd pass it along. I'm sure that most here already have their favourite sites tuned in whilst they go about their daily puter activities but I thought I'd pass along the site in case anyone was interested. www.theradio.com Lots to choose from and the quality is top notch...I may have to go out and pick up big a**ed set of speakers for the puter, cuz what I'm listening to right now on the "Rockabilly" channel pleases these old ears. Thanks Kim

Derrrr...yeah of course it is... I know that may sound like a stupid question, but what I'm trying to ask is this... To what "degree" is technology hindering, and most importantly, diluting the music that we hear today compared to years gone by? For example, with the technology we have today, even more so than the likes of equipment even 15 years ago, we can make a "mediocre" vocalist, guitarist, drummer, (insert talented artist here), sound phenomenal these days. I know that even in the old days, the practice of oversampling and overdubs flourished, but at the same time, there still seemed to be, an inherent and basic talent that was included into the overall ensemble of the musical recipe to begin with. These days though...we just don't seem to be witness to that...even when it comes to live shows...especially from the younger artists? Lotsa noise, but no real musical performances based on sheer talent that has thus far stood out to any degree? Case in point that I can relate to is when I caught Collective Soul a couple of years back. Great band! I love their music...but live, and as tight as they seemed to be, it just didn't sound like the albums that I had purchased? Seriously, you could have told me that a different vocalist was standing in for Ed Roland and I would have believed it...not to mention a good portion of the musical portions of the songs played that night? After the show, I realized that a lot of "in studio" work was focused on for the inclusion of not one, but many songs on pretty much all of their releases...at least for the album versions of the songs. I realize that an earlier example of this was witnessed with the release of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", and was performed as such using a video display live for the most part,...because it was deemed, at the time, too difficult to replicate live...but I didn't suspect that it would be an ongoing thing that would kind of be the standard for live performances. I guess what I'm trying to say is...Is this what we have to look forward to in the upcoming years? Groups and artists that really can't do a hell of a lot with the instruments of their choice...but instead, will rely on, and rest on their laurels, trusting that the electronic wizardry will get them through not only a studio recording, but a live performance as well? Please, no responses saying that "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" and tell me that Justin Timberlake is coming out with a new album...hahahaha. Thanks Kim

The bands take on "Locomotion" was the best in my opinion and performed it the way the song should have been done in the first place. Probably one only 2 or 3 remakes that I can think of that were handled properly!
As far as "We're An American Band" goes...what can I say?... classic GFR all the way! Classic cowbell to boot!!!!!!!!!

Now here's two of my favourite bands that I have had the opportunity to kinda "rip" in the past few years and although I realize that they are both talents to be reckoned with, there is NO WAY IN HELL that you could drag me to see either one of them live! So, if a concert of this nature were to take place, how many folks here would be up for a gig of this nature? I'll go out on a limb and say that B.J and the Boys would be the headliners...Meat as backup. Any takers? Keep in mind, I'm not bashing either troupe...just curious to see how many fans we can flush out here on the board. Tickies are going for $130.00 a pop. Thanks Kim

Push came to shove...and if YOU were a fledgling group back in the early 60's...which one of the two drummers would you have hedged a bet on to keep the beat?...aside from knowing what we now know of course...but more importantly, what they did as they both hit the ground running back in the day.
Thanks Kim
