Hi folks, Well, he's done it again! The US 2006 Tour is cancelled or if you like postponed until 2007 ...., new dates to be confirmed! www.michaelschenkerhimself.com/index2.html This time he says it's down to the singer Jari Tiura, don't know how true that is, especially with his personal escapades over here that he blabbed about before ... To be honest, I wonder if it's because of poor album sales? You know, I must be daft but on the strength of the contributions of Robin McAuley, Gary Bardens & Graham Bonnet, I went & bought the new album. It ain't that great to me I have to say & was extremely disappointing. Yeah, I know, I'm not a real metalhead, but I am a lover of most musical releases that Mr. Schenker has had a hand in but this release really seems average ..... Novelty value of the new album, each track of the 19, blend into each other ....., good way of getting as many songs onto the disc as poss I guess. Shame they're not that great a Quality. Still, would've been good to hear the old material again! Keep on rockin' folks! Cozy Al

Dreamtide - Excellent work my friend! Good to see some reviews up here! I really need to get to it on one specific album I've promised I'll do for ages & that artist is probably a little p***ed right now .....! Re: The TNT DVD - Would've loved to have heard Tonight I'm Falling on there. Shame, great song indeed! Keep on rockin' Cozy Al

Ha ha! Yeah, but they've just been doing a load of dates too, but not full original line up. Mike Reno, Paul Dean & Co.
Of course they did lose their bassist in that boating accident ....

I hear ya, you know it's hard to believe when bands get this bad. If things have become so heated behind the scenes & they just keep going at it back & forth, they should realise that it could become a public embarrassment that unfolds. Historic examples: Michael Schenker with Graham Bonnet where Graham Bonnet pulls out MS's guitar roadie from behind the PA system, playing back up guitar to Schenker. Then GB states that this guys been covering what Schenker can't do on his own, etc. Then MS well known bust up the last time he was with UFO - Sharks tour I believe - where Pete Way had to separate Phil Mogg & Schenker & Schenker was wasted on stage in Manchester, UK. Yeah, I know, it's just Michael Schenker examples, but their prime examples. Guess there's been similar instances in the past with Kiss & Ace Frehley, but it never got out on stage except embarrassment for Ace that Tommy Thayer stepped into his outfit & played because Ace wasn't capable. Motley have also had a few incidents of course too. Prime examples of bands imploding. Still with CC's & Brets own side projects I'd guess these guys will probably call it quits anyhow. Cozy Al

Hey folks, Did you see the posting about Poison at Metal Sludge & Blabbermouth? Guess some folks will feel the same way the metalhead folks at Blabbermouth did &say, who gives a ....., about Poison ...! To be honest, I've only been to see them in the last couple of years & it's entertainment folks, no question, they are a fun live band, who love to use pyro's, which is kinda cool to see these days when many bands have dropped them. Later, keep on rockin' Cozy Al This over at Metal Sludge: ww.metalASSHOLES.tv/home/index.php?ption=com_content&task=view&id=1395&ItemidThis at Blabbermouth taken from an earlier Metal Sludge posting. POISON: Near-Brawl Erupts Onstage In Atlanta - Aug. 26, 2006 The Metal Sludge web site has been updated with several fan accounts in regards to POISON's performance last night (Friday, August 25) at The HiFi Buys Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia: Account#1: "Don't know what started it, but right before the encore Bret [Michaels, vocals] and Bobby [Dall, bass] appeared to be in a heated discussion and next thing ya know Bobby slings his bass at Bret. Rikki [Rockett, drums] and the roadies had to come in and separate them. Bret then went on to apologize and say how we may have just witnessed the last POISON concert ever. Bobby later came out and finished the song... guess to give the fans what they paid for. Wish I knew what was said." Account#2: "Here is the way I saw it from fifth-row center seats. "The next-to-last song has always been 'Nothing But a Good Time', at least for the last six years that I have seen them. Then they seem to always close with 'Talk Dirty To Me'. "Well, 'Nothing But a Good Time' was played, the confetti dropped as it has every year, the band comes out and waves and it goes dark. A couple of miniutes pass by and Bobby Dall (the bassist) comes running on stage pics up the mic and starts screaming, 'Do you want some more? I can't hear you!' I mean, screaming the Sh*t. I was weird and unusual....just the whole atmosphere of it seemed strange, the way he was acting. Then the rest of the band comes walking out looking puzzled and Bret tried to get the microphone from Bobby. He shoved Bret and looked seriously pissed off. I mean, he looked like he was ready to throw down. Bret took the boxers stance (you know dukes up and bouncing) and I was just kinda trying to play it off with a smile but Bobby wasn't smiling at all. Then four or five roadies come on stage and pull them off the stage. "A couple of minutes later Bret comes out and apologizes to the fans. He said 'That Sh*t has been building up for 20 years.' He then explained, 'We are like brothers, and sometimes brothers want to knock the F*CK out of each other.' He apologized for not finishing the show with 'Talk Dirty To Me' and then said, 'Atlanta, you may very well have seen the last concert by POISON in its current formation.' (pretty much verbatim) "Rikki and C.C. had '[What the F*CK]' looks on their faces. Then Bobby comes out and says, 'F*CK it let's play one more.' Rikki walked to his drum kit, C.C. got handed his guitar and they played 'Talk Dirty'. During the song, Bobby was running around all over the stage, a lot more than is normal for him. C.C. and Rikki kept exchanging looks with each other like they were disgusted and Bret was Bret; he just sang his ass off and didn't pay attention to Bobby. "At the end of the show, Bobby took his bass off, handed it to the roadie and walked off the other side of the stage while Bret, Rikki, and C.C. all said goodnight to the fans and thanked them for coming out. "It was awkward, and not staged at all in my opinion. "After the house lights were on, Bret apologized to some of the fans on the front row....without a mic, he just said, 'Guys, I'm sorry that happened here.' Seemed very genuine to me. "As we were leaving, we have to pass by the area to where the people line up for meet/greet passes....given out by radio stations and fan clubs. Well, one of the guards walked up and told them there would be no meet-and-greet tonight."

Agreed - JLT sings great & his 2 cover CD releases were OK, but he does tend to get himself dragged into nostalgia type events, etc. I last caught him live with the Voices Of Classic Rock Tour, I think in 2001 or 2, great bands or line ups. Glenn Hughes was there, Pat Travers, Mike "I'm the big man" Reno, Spencer Davis, John Cafferty, Bobby Kimball, to name a few that night ...., sorry guys, on the road with work, so I can't go pull out the ticket stub for more details right now. I did see him on the Difficult To Cure tour with Rainbow back when ..., but those are the only 2 times I got to see him live. Great voice indeed. Vinnie on drums & Phil on bass are a great power rhythm section, but Carlos is OK, not great & as for Gary Corbett, sorry but he a backing member for all intents & purposes - Please prove me wrong! A stronger name on guitar would've really done the trick though but ....., we'll see! Cozy Al

Hey folks, Yeah, sorry 'bout the delay on this one, kind of wondered if it was rock enough for the site?! Well, the setlist, best I could make out on Saturday was as follows - BTW the text in caps, was the other tracks I was certain of at the gig, but the fan club helped with the blanks! A couple of folks at the site that attended also believe that John played Isn't It Time towards the end too, but I couldn't be sure. If he did it must have been tied in with Girl From The North Country, as I wasn't familiar with that one. Set:When I See You Smile IN DREAMS Change Back On My Feet Again Missing You WHENEVER YOU COME AROUND NEW PONY Bluebird Cafe The Hard Way NYC Girl GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY Midnight Rendezvous Head First Encore: Led Zep's Rock & Roll My review - Remember the caps text was as confirmed by the fanclub as I wasn't certain of those songs actual titles: John Waite returned to Detroit to play this Free Festival, the last time he played here was about 2 years ago in an unplugged gig organized by a now sadly defunct radio station, 106.7 The Drive. That gig was simply John & guitarist buddy to also help with vocal harmonies, the crowd was restricted I'd guess that time to about 200? Tonight, I'd have only guessed at around 5,000 for the show to be honest, but hey, who cares, it was a fun night! The sound during songs was better than the previous nights sound for Survivor, who were also playing the Sterling Fest, here in Sterling Heights, with their new vocalist Robin McAuley (Ex- Grand Prix - UK 80's melodic rock band - The Far Corporation project & the McAuley Schenker Group) . Gig review of that one can be found here: classicrock.about.com/b/a/257412.htm Well, being English like John, I thought I proudly wear my England Football / Soccer shirt last night. Both my wife Rhonda & I are JW fans & jam Head First & Back On My Feet again from time to time in the bands we get to hook up with locally. Yes, we live in Sterling Heights! It's good to see JW playing live again, but there were a few songs in the set that I wasn't 100% certain on. Here's the setlist I have, anyone there that's knows John's stuff better or was there & really remembers the set & not just grabbed the set list off the stage, as it seems it did indeed vary! Go see John Waite's new website for details: www.johnwaiteonline.com/ If you want to go & make corrections go ahead & fill in the difference? Opening with When I See You Smile surprised me, but it's cool, thought he would've saved that for later though? I've been told by the Fanclub / JW Website that it was "In Dreams? The mic sound / volume between songs wasn't as clear as during the performance. Change was next, great song, not holding back with these opening numbers! Then Back On My Feet Again a true classic from The Babys years. Missing You followed, what another great song & huge hit. I understand the next 2 songs were WHENEVER YOU COME AROUND & NEW PONY. Then he introduced the band, before going into Bluebird Cafe & then the title track of the latest album, The Hard Way then followed NYC Girl. Great stuff! Next up, so I was told, was GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY? They also -apparently played Isn't It Time. I don't know all these JW songs Then it was Midnight Rendezvous with the crowd certainly getting behind him. Finishing with Head First which closed the set at 9.20pm, then to come back out to close with a killer version of: Led Zep's Rock & Roll, awesome! Welcome back John don't be shy to visit again & soon! Fun night. Hope you like the review folks! Later, oh & don't forget, keep on rockin'! Cozy Al

Holy ....! Check this out, raise a smile or two! METALLICA SONGS TURNED INTO LULLABIES The song "Enter Sandman" will take on a whole new meaning on August 29th when Lullaby Renditions of Metallica hits the streets. The CD features "dreamy" renditions of Metallica staples such as "Battery" and "Master of Puppets," complete with glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron, harps, bells and more instruments you're not likely to hear on an actual Metallica album. A press release promised that "the music that set the standard for aggressive, concussion-inducing rock will soon be lulling infants to sleep," although some critics still argue that Metallica induced drowsiness in fans of all ages with 2003's St. Anger album. The CD is one of the first three releases in the Rockabye Baby! series issued by Baby Rock Records, with Radiohead and Coldplay songs featured on the other two. Future installments will focus on the music of Tool, the Cure, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age and several others. The complete track listing for Lullaby Renditions of Metallica is: "...And Justice For All," "Battery," "Enter Sandman," "Wherever I May Roam," "Nothing Else Matters," "The Unforgiven," "One," "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth," "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)," "Fade To Black" and "Master Of Puppets." Ha ha! Good on yer all! Thanks for the comments! I just received the MSG - Tales Of Rock & Roll CD, haven't listened to it yet, just brought it on the strength of Metal Mickey hooking up with the ex vocalists again! Too early really to judge Robin's performances with Survivor. A certain good friend of mine in the UK, no names here ...., he knows who he is but as yet has not signed up to this site but ....., anyway he was saying he thought "Reach" was a lame album from Survivor. Very predictable, but I've not heard it. I thought the 2 new songs they played that night - Even with a naff sound! - Reach & Fire Makes Steel, still sounded pretty good in the set. I think I'll still pick it up in due course. Again, give him about 5 or so gigs more with the band & he should be right back into it. My only concern would be, how much gigging has he done in recent years? I firmly believe that could've been what brought Steve Augeri to the situation he got into. Many years off & then to tour as much as Journey have done ...., would just just be too much. I still wish Steve Augeri well & hope he gets back out touring again, either with Journey or Tall Stories. I'm not fussy, although having never seen Tall Stories, it would be great to see 'em live. I think Robin should be alright, Survivor don't gig as much as Journey! Ha ha! Now don't get touchy folks, as I still think Survivor are a great band. Now then, I also have a review of John Waite's gig at Sterling Fest the following night. Do you want to see it? Come on, tell me, do ya ....., huh, huh?!!!! Are you still out there, let me know if you're out there!!! - Thanks for those words Phil - RIP - you were great mate & much missed! Cozy Al out! PS Kimbaman - Collective Soul - What a great band! One of the "newer" acts I actually like along with 3 Doors Down, Jet & Silvertide.

Hey all, Not long got back in from the Survivor gig tonight at SterlingFest, with new vocalist Robin McAuley - Ex-Grand Prix, Far Corporation, MSG. OK, just got to thinking some folks won't want to read my review & just wanna know the setlist right? OK, here it is: Reach Burning Heart Take You On A Saturday Rhythm Of The City Poor Mans Son High On You Burning Bridges She's A Star Keyboard spot - Chris Grove The Search Is Over Fire Makes Steel Guitar spot - Frankie Sullivan I Can't Hold Back Eye Of The Tiger Encore: Caught In The Game They started right on 8pm tonight, but to be honest the crowd was segregated as this event is sponsored by local council / government, all the families of the people that work for them, were in the sectioned off front part of the arena - It's in a local park. Wrong crowd for a band like Survivor I think, turned out OK in the end. Crowd attendance, I'd guess at maybe a few thousand for the actual show, Survivor as headline act. - Throughout the day before on this same stage had been all sorts of other "family" entertainers, magicians & the like, hence wrong crowd! So it was really a family crowd that were probably all telling their kids that, "this band has got a great song called Eye Of The Tiger ...., etc, etc." There were some rock fans around, from what I could tell but people being into it from the start ...., a few around the edges. They opened the gig with "Reach" & then launched in "Burning Heart," probably due to the lack of response to the title track of the new CD. Next up was a track that shocked me to hear, but it's a great track, "Take You On A Saturday." It sounded somewhat different & to be honest they were really struggling with the sound from the start, Chris Grove especially with the keys. Robin did a little introduction before Frankie did a little messing around before they ripped through, "Rhythm Of The City." Then Robin approached the crowd with, "How are you doing, I'm sure many of you have been following Survivor through the years & are thinking, who the heck is that guy singing? Well let me tell you all, I don't you guys either!" Don't think the crowd knew how to take that one! "Poor Mans Son" next, great stuff for me & the crowd was starting to get behind them a little. "High On You" was next with Robin showing a little struggle on some high points. "Burning Bridges" & "She's A Star" from Too Hot To Sleep next up. A little key's spot for Chris next, which then cued up Robin to join Chris for "The Search Is Over" before the rest of the band joined in. A new one next, "Fire Makes Steel," seemed to slot in pretty good before Frankie took a little solo spot. Then we had "I Can't Hold Back" & set closer, the one Mum's & Dad's had told their kids about, yes, "Eye Of The Tiger." The time at the end of the set, 9.20pm, so 1 hr 20 mins, would they come back out again? One more time, for "Caught In The Game," which suited me fine. My wife wasn't familiar with the song, but I loved it! Overall, either there were points during the set where Robin's mic cut out or he wasn't sure on some of the lyrics, otherwise I think he did good considering I suspect the monitors were not up to scratch, for any of the band! It was good to see Survivor back in Detroit for the first time since they played here last with Night Ranger in 2001! By the way Jack, when's Night Ranger coming back? Keep on rockin' Cozy Al out folks!

Hey you guys, Great to not feel so alone with the old LP's / albums! I have between about 400 - 500 albums, about 50 12inch singles / 45's & about 400 7inch - "leather heels ...." got a little carried away there, sblack person sblack person! - singles / 45's! I really got into the collecting coloured (Spelling - English in me folks!) vinyls & pic discs & over the late 70's / 80's years I got quite a few autographed. Likewise, many I could never find on CD so still keep to this day & play occasionally on the turntable. Should probably get a new one though. I really need to hook up the turntable to the PC & copy them over. I'd love to frame many of many vinyl items, especially coloured vinyls & pic discs. Thought about the autographed stuff too, but would be concerned that the ink would deteriorate in constant daylight. Keep on rockin' folks! Cozy Al

Hiya folks, Check this out posted @ Blabbermouth: GUNS N' ROSES Frontman Unable To Complete London Show; SEBASTIAN BACH Steps In - July 30, 2006 Former SKID ROW frontman Sebastian Bach sang lead vocals for the last two songs ("Night Train" and "Paradise City") of GUNS N' ROSES' set at the Wembley Arena in London, England on Sunday (July 30) after singer Axl Rose was taken ill and was unable to finish the show. The band performed an abbreviated set which reportedly featured no new songs, a departure from the rest of the tour where several "Chinese Democracy" numbers were regularly aired at every performance. In other news, GUNS N' ROSES played a special acoustic gig late Saturday/early Sunday at a small London club called Cuckoo, featuring a crowd made up in part of audience members from GUNS N' ROSES first Wembley Arena performance on Saturday (July 29) who had their names read out by Axl during the show. The acoustic gig reportedly started at 4:00 a.m. and finished at about 5:30 a.m. The July 30 Wembley concert was the final show of GUNS N' ROSES' lengthy European tour, which kicked off May 25 in Madrid, Spain. GUNS N' ROSES will headline KROQ's Inland Invasion 2006 on September 23 at the Hyundai Pavillion at Glen Helen in Devore, California. Additional U.S. dates are expected in the fall. Rose has been saying that the band's long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy", will be out later this year. Well, what next! All these lead singers seem to be dropping like flies! I'm guessing Axl's was more drink induced though, eh?! Later Cozy Al

Hiya gang, Well, JSS continues his run up front with Journey which has led to the cancellation of the planned Euro Talisman dates, another of Jeff's activities. This from his website: [glow=red,2,300] Talisman Tour Canceled! [/glow] We regret to inform the upcoming Talisman dates in Europe have been canceled or postponed until further notice. Seems Jeff will be continuing his tenure with Journey until further notice & the Talisman dates were right in between the schedule which wouldn't allow any time for rehearsals or travel. There are negotiations being discussed to rebook the tour sometime early next year if schedules permit. This could only be a positive as Jeff will surely open up a broader fan base that will discover Talisman for the 1st time and see why this has been the longest running band in his career. www.jeffscottsoto.com/english/index.php Well Jeff, hope the Journey tour continues well for you. I didn't go, but from mixed comments at Journey's site, look under "On The Road" & reviews for the DTE gig, Clarkston, Detroit, MI. It's funny cos a guy I used to work with - Not aware it was Jeff up there ...., sigh! - dropped an email to me after going to the gig & said "Journey were bad, they had a 3rd rate singer with them, but Leppard were great." A little defensively I jumped at the guy saying, "What ....?! Didn't you know who it was?! JSS ex-Yngwie, Soul SirkUS, etc, etc." Guess I wasn't there, but others that were there said both good & bad things about Jeff's voice that night. Read them here: www.journeymusic.com/index2.htmlAgain, I hope he's not gonna do his voice long term damage from over gigging. Jeff's a great talent much praised in many, many circles. Hang in there Jeff & continued success in all you do bud! Keep on rockin' Cozy Al

Sounds like a certain other path, "journey" - Ahem! Sad, but again, like JSS replacing SA, RA is a good replacement for JJ. Saw RA with Grand Prix, way back. He's great! Then with MSG. You know he was also the voice on the Far Corporation's cover of Stairway To Heaven. Hence the Frank Filipetti link. Good luck to both Jimi Jamison & also to Robin in his new role. Cozy Al
