Go!! Seriously, I loved Lou Gramm's voice & it really saddened my wife & I when we had to leave his show about 5 songs into the set, 'cos Lou was so far off key. Real shame for Lou Mick Jones has made a great choice, I swear .... Let's just hope no allegations of miming appear!!! Cozy Al

Foreigner Live @ DTE Energy Music Theatre, Clarkston, MI. 06/08/07. So Foreigner are in town & it’s not with Lou Gramm who left the band in 2003, but then went out on the road advertising his gigs as Foreigner Feat. Lou Gramm. Some people could argue today that really this is what Mick Jones should be doing, but I’m guessing that since it was Lou that left the Foreigner set up in the first place, it’s becomes Mick’s band. Gramm was replaced by Johnny Edwards in 1990, the line up that produced the unsuccessful, but underrated Unusual Heat in 1991 & then just over a year later, Lou rejoined the band …..? What …?! Anyway, that line up somehow lasted until 2003, when Gramm quit again & to be honest after all his treatment for the brain tumor he’d fought against & won durings the late 90’s, you could hardly blame him for quitting & I thought that would be it, but no, Lou Gramm did indeed tour with his own band & continues to do so today, but sadly in many peoples eyes, he’s really no longer up to par. Well, in 2005 Mick Jones announced a new Foreigner, that included long time cohorts in Keyboards man Jeff Jacobs (Since 1993) & Thom Gimbel – Guitars, Sax, Flute, you name it! (Since 1995), then new band members Jeff Pilson on bass, possibly best recognized for his role in “Steeldragon” the band created in the movie Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg or for his role as a member of both Dokken & Ratt, Then Jason Bonham on drums, no introduction for the man who’s followed very successfully in his father footsteps & then on lead vocals one Kelly Hansen ex of the band Hurricane. What a find this guy is for Jones, in the first year together they released the Extended Versions live album, which I have to say blew me away …, so finally after 2 years of this Foreigner line up, I get to see the new line up live! No messing they opened with Double Vision, wow! Kelly has pipes & the guy looks like a 20 - 30 something Steven Tyler & boy, does he ever stop running around?! They follow this with an excellent rendition of Head Games …. I could see certain members complain to the sound crew, that their mic’s weren’t right, but out front it continued to improve as they launched into Cold As Ice! Kelly thought he’d make friends in Detroit by jumping out into the crowd, running up through the pavilion across one of the back rows & back up on stage again. He’d got the crowd eating out of his hands ….! Blue Morning followed which once more sounded so fresh he really has this Foreigner gig figured out big time. Time to slow it down with the huge hit that in fact tagged Foreigner as a successful ballad band, Waiting For A Girl Like You. It’s a shame that so many people recall these guys so much more for their ballads than their unquestionable classic rock songs! A little chat from Kelly leads into him asking the crowd if there are any naughty girls out in the crowd, for the Dirty White Boys up on stage! Cue THAT song! An interesting version of Say You Will was presented next in unplugged type style, with just guitars, keys & vocals. Again, how good this guy carries this stuff is fantastic. A very old classic follows next in Starrider, a huge masterpiece of a song, which is then followed by the introductions of each band member & as Jason Bonham is introduced, he teases the crowd with the intro to Led Zep’s Rock & Roll, Mick then starts to riff on guitar, then stops & comments, “Not now, maybe later …” Feels Like The First Time is next to huge applause, but to be honest, the crowd seems to have been behind this Foreigner line up all night! The next track starts by some fooling around by Jones messing around on the guitar & people in the crowd are looking at each other thinking, this doesn’t sound familiar, then I get a hint in Mick’s guitar sound & sure enough, yes! It’s Urgent!” Sure enough Thom Gimbel comes stomping out with the opening sax riff & yep, it’s Urgent alright. Great track, which then leads into Jason Bonham’s drum solo … Must be getting close to the end, when they jam the sounds of Juke Box Hero’s intro, the crowd is at fever pitch when midway through they launch into Led Zep’s Whole Lotta Love, as recorded on the live album released 2 years back now. This closes the set & wow! That was great! Sure enough, the crowd gets the band back out, for Long, Long Way From Home. Fantastic stuff! They’re not done as Kelly Hansen start messing with some gospel touches, almost like Jon Bon Jovi does in the Bon Jovi live set & he starts singing in gospel style, “I gotta question for ya …, etc, etc. I wanna ask you something? Can you sing Detroit, ‘cos I really need you now to help me here? I Want To Know What Love Is?! “ Which they do really well & the crowd isn’t too sloppy either! Well, there’s one track I know they just had to play that they hadn’t & sure enough Hot Blooded rocks the night out! Very good night indeed, catch Foreigner live if you can, but make sure it’s Mick’s gang! 4.5 / 5 – Only because they were rocking so well, the ballads killed some of the momentum but were still class!
Folks in the UK, whether you think this IS Foreigner or not, see for yourself when they play there in November! It's good stuff!

Saw Foreigner @ Pine Knob / DTE, Detroit Friday night & we actually got that stripped down version of Say You Will, great stuff!
Kelly was on awesome form, what a singer, what a voice, what energy this guy has running all over the place, climbing all over the PA, which is the first time I've seen a singer this active since Sammy Hagar with VH in 2004! Jason is such a tight drummer, so spot on ... A truly great night, which included the Juke Box Hero into Whole Lotta Love jam. Great stuff & when Mick introduced Jason, Jason started jamming the intro to Rock & Roll & I thought Mick would follow through on guitar, but no go! He said, "Maybe Later ..," but alas no such luck. Great night though!

TESLA SET TO LAUNCH U.S. HEADLINING TOUR STARTING JUNE 7 IN SANTA ROSA, CA IN SUPPORT OF ‘REAL TO REEL’ DUE OUT JUNE 5; FREE SHOW SCHEDULED FOR MAY 31 IN SACRAMENTO; “TESLA TUESDAY” ROCKIN’ PHOENIX WITH DAY’S WORTH OF EVENTS AND APPEARANCES ON RELEASE DAY; BAND CONFIRMED TO APPEAR ON “ROCKLINE” WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6 May 30, 2007 -- As previously announced, TESLA will launch a summer U.S. headlining tour starting June 7 in Santa Rosa, CA at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in support of their REAL TO REEL album, which is due out June 5 on the band’s Tesla Electric Company Recordings (Ryko Distribution). This marks the 20th consecutive year that TESLA has toured the States. Before the tour officially kicks off, TESLA will make a special hometown appearance at Cesar Chavez Park in Sacramento, CA on May 31 at 7:00pm PT in front an expected crowd of 8,000. Not only will the show, sponsored by KXRQ-FM (98 Rock) and the Hard Rock Café, be FREE, but everyone in attendance will get a special pre-release sneak peek at REAL TO REEL. The one-hour performance will exclusively spotlight songs from “Reel 1” of the two-disc set, which will be sold that day at the new R5 store founded by Russ Solomon, the man behind the now defunct Tower Records chain. Immediately following the concert, the Hard Rock Café will sponsor a listening party with the band who’ll be autographing copies of the album which will be available for sale at the event by R5. The first 13 tracks REAL TO REEL—“Reel 1”--will be available on June 5 at retail outlets, while the second disc—“Reel 2”--containing the remaining 12 songs will be available along the band’s tour route with the purchase of a concert ticket. An empty space will exist within “Reel 1”’s packaging for “Reel 2.” Fans wanting bonus material should head to their local Best Buy, where a limited edition package will be sold including “War Pigs” from “Reel 2” as well as a sneak preview of three of the band’s first-ever unplugged studio recordings of ”Modern Day Cowboy,” “Paradise” and “Shine Away”--the last recordings with guitarist Tommy Skeoch in 2005—which will appear on TESLA’s forthcoming 20th anniversary boxed set. Details about the boxed set will be announced soon. On release day—declared “TESLA TUESDAY,”—the band will be celebrating REAL TO REEL with a day’s worth of listening parties, events and appearances in Phoenix, AZ. Early that morning, the band will perform “Thank You” on “Good Morning Arizona” (FOX), followed by a four-hour stint as guest DJs at KDKB-FM (93.3), where TESLA will take over the live radio airwaves from 10am-2pm playing songs from the album, chatting with fans who call in and giving away tickets to their concert in Phoenix on June 12 at the Dodge Theatre. Once that’s complete, TESLA head to Best Buy (2727 W. Thunderbird Rd.) for an in-store performance at 4pm. The day will conclude with a listening party at Martini Ranch sponsored by KDKB-FM, Zia Records and Live Nation. While the event is free, fans must be 21 and over to attend. TESLA will be mixing and mingling with fans, playing songs from both “Reel 1” and “Reel 2,” and autographing copies of the album which will be available for sale at the event courtesy of Zia Records. TESLA first tested out some of their favorite rock classics with their fans in the summer of 2006 during the “Electric Summer Jam” tour (the first tour with guitarist Dave Rude, who replaced original guitarist Tommy Skeoch). While UFO’s “Rock Bottom” went down like a storm to a standing, cheering, grandstand crowd of 10,000 in Milwaukee, Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” engaged 6,000 people in Lansing, Michigan so much that they refused to leave during a torrential rainstorm which lasted throughout the entire two-hour show. After getting such a positive reaction from their fans, the band knew making REAL TO REEL was a logical next step for them. What can fans expect this time around at a live TESLA show? “They’ll be hearing a lot of REAL TO REEL along with the hits they know and love,” says singer Jeff Keith. “We’re excited to play the new songs especially, because we had so much fun recording them. We tested some of them out last summer and people seemed to really like them. Now that we have the 25 songs in our heads, we can’t wait to get out there and bring them all to life. And in addition to the TESLA hits, we’ll be bringing some older songs out of the archives that we rarely play live. We’re looking forward to playing REAL TO REEL with lots of feel.” Meanwhile, TESLA will be the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show “Rockline” on Wednesday, June 6 at 8:30pm PT/11:30pm ET. They’ll chat with host Bob Coburn about REAL TO REEL, the U.S. tour and everything else happening in their world. The band will also be performing a few songs (some from the new album and some TESLA classics), and fans will have the opportunity to call in with questions for the duo at 800-344-ROCK (7625). For local listings, fans should check out www.rocklineradio.com. In further radio news, lead singer Jeff Keith will appear on “The Adam Carolla Show” on Monday, June 4 at 9:00am Pacific Time. The program can be heard throughout the west coast on the Free FM radio network. Fans should check adam.freefm.com/ for local listings and can call in to 866-901-ADAM (2326) to talk with Jeff. Fans can get up-to-the-minute tour details and purchase VIP ticket packages at the band’s website, www.teslarealtoreel.com. Sad as it seems it's true! Jeff had sent a mail out to all his fans on his mailing lists, explaining his side of things. His message was this: "Hello Everyone, Thanks for all the e-mails and your concerns. I can't go too far into this, as there are now legal concerns regarding the band situation, but I can tell you that the other three guys decided to throw me out and try to replace me. I was expecting to tour this year, as we had just finished a new CD and mixed a live one. Brad and I had worked with an attorney for most of last year to secure an operating agreement with everyone to protect the name, etc. It was unsuccessful, as Jack and Kelly refused to agree to anything with us. (which is the reason we needed an agreement, no one had registered the name for 13 years, as well as many other potentially devastating business management oversights) In November, Yolande and I traveled to Australia to see her gravely ill father, and since then I've not gotten a returned phone call or e-mail from anyone in the band. Evidently, Brad decided to join up with Jack and Kelly, take the name and split the money three ways. Sadly, it appears that their personal greed has trumped the loyalty to our fans. After returning home, I received a one page letter from an attorney saying I was out, and that's all I know. They were actually booking shows without me before I was told anything. In the meantime, I'm playing, writing and recording constantly, while trying to figure out how people can behave so badly after 27 years of working together. Anyone thinking of buying tickets to see the show should know that it won't be Night Ranger they're going to see. (although I've heard that my name and picture are wrongly being used in ads in some markets) Other than that, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer and is going into surgery today, so I'm very worried. I hope this answers your questions. Please let anyone that asks know that I'm fine, and have positive thoughts for my Dad. He needs 'em. All the best, Jeff Watson" Andrew @ www.melodicrock.com/ it seems has an exclusive, as you'll see when you go to the above link. Reb Beach - Winger / Whitesnake - will stand in with N/R for the summer tour dates. Cozy Al

The members of VELVET REVOLVER gave the induction speech for honorees VAN HALEN during the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which unfolded inside New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel on March 12. VELVET REVOLVER also performed at the event in VAN HALEN's place.

Well Hi all, how's it going, long time since I've really added anything here! The site that I write for elsewhere ..., is pretty strict on what they class as classic rock, so certain things that you, I & others may deem Classic Rock, may fall under that sites Heavy Metal section, which ....., I don't contribute to .... Here though, we're all rockers, classic, hard, heavy & metal alike, so what we share here ....., is usually ..... - I think - appreciated! OK, so the Scorps have a new album coming out, yeah, you knew that already, but a few more details on that from the band here: www.the-scorpions.com/english/default.aspAlso, their latest tour details are coming together & no, they're not all done / set yet, but there's some here at their site, including 4 Canadian dates: www.the-scorpions.com/english/tourdates.asp It seems they will also doing a few more UK dates than just the Derby Rock & Blues Custom Bike show, that MSG will also be playing at, along with Uli Jon Roth. I just thought I'd check out Mental, sorry Metal Mickey's website though & it seems that HE's let the cat out of the bag on other Scorp's dates in the UK, that he will also be playing at, currently just showing Manchester & Hammy Apollo: michaelschenkerhimself.com/index2.htmlMetal Mickey also talks about North American dates although none of those posted ..., yet! I'm absolutely stunned ..... RIP Brad. You'll be greatly missed by all.
I understand it wasn't that long ago both he & Tom Scholz had announced that they both coincidently had got engaged. - No, not to each other. I believe this had only happened for both Brad & Tom, within the past 6 months. Wow! What an absolute tradegy .... This stuff is just so hard to sink in ....., even though it comes to us all eventually.
God bless you Brad, sympathies to his family,
Cozy Al Williams

Yep, their real best song was of course sung by Bruce Hall - Back On The Road Again! Shame, they can be good live, but I agree that they need to just at least try & show that they can write something like, BOTRA or Ridin' The Storm Out, Meet Me On The Mountain again.
Nightwatcher - No, the country stuff we can expect from Bon Jovi, as they sell out again to their new found audience! True old fans of Jovi should bloody well boycott them next time they tour, maybe they'll get a hint.
Back to REO - Well, they've really sunk low when the album will ONLY be available at Walmart! Sad thing is, the Eagles have also sold out to Walmart too. - The closest thing to country worth listening too. Well, Keith Urban ain't too bad at times.
Later

Yeah, it's a total rip these days for real, Genesis like The Police can stick their tickets where the sun don't shine IMHO! $200+ a hit for good tix, I don't think so! At least in the UK it's more realistic than here in the States. I know my mates over there think some shows there are still a rip, but the prices are nothing compared to here. The Who here in the States were demanding about $175 - 200 a good seat before The Ox died. On the same tour in the UK, they did a couple of warm up shows in my home town of Portsmouth, Hampshire - Which sadly "I" could not attend, but the top price at those 2 gigs, £40 apiece. Which at today dollar devaluation against the pound would be $80 max & that venue holds just 2,000 people! You see how we are getting ripped off here? Some people may defend them & say, yes but in the States they put on a bigger show ...... Well, I saw screens rolling with pictures / video footage behind them - The Who - on stage at the Palace of Auburn Hills last time around, but there was no pyro's or anything extravagant. How can they justify it? They charge more for merchandise here in the States, the venues charge more for beer / pop / snacks, it really is a rip & you know, it's not like The Who need the money. Heck, these guys are even selling live CD / DVD bootlegs of every show they've done on the last 2 years tours. I just picked up the DVD from the Palace show last Sept. & they are charging $34 inc S&H for the DVD. Bit of a rip isn't it? I bought for souvenier value, so paid the price, but I still think it's a bit of a rip. There's no fancy packaging with it, cardboard sleeve, oh I guess they put a mini poster in with it, but that was it. Anyone interested in picking up one for themselves - If you don't mind paying for it, can find it here: themusic.com/They say the money from these sales goes to charity, but who knows? Cozy Al
