AC/DC have returned to the top of the U.K. album chart with a little help from Iron Man. The group's "Iron Man 2" soundtrack has beaten Paul Weller to the top spot and the rockers are well on course to end Lady GaGa's run at the top of the European album charts. "Iron Man 2 - Official Soundtrack" is only AC/DC's third chart topper in the U.K. Weller's "Wake Up the Nation" debuted at two on the new countdown, with Meat Loaf's new album "Hang Cool Teddy Bear" entering the chart at four. Meanwhile, Diana Vickers' "Once" tops the new singles chart in the U.K., ahead of "OMG" by Usher. The sale of "Iron Man 2" soundtrack could boost the sale of the movie's tickets as well. Starring Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke as the hero and the villain respectively, the film is heading to theaters starting May 7. Track Listing: 1. Shoot to Thrill 2. Rock 'N' Roll Damnation 3. Guns for Hire 4. Cold Hearted Man 5. Back in Black 6. Thunderstruck 7. If You Want Blood (You've Got It) 8. Evil Walks 9. T.N.T. 10. Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be 11. Have a Drink on Me 12. The Razor's Edge 13. Let There Be Rock 14. War Machine 15. Highway to Hell

Right now it's just a waiting game, but Bret Michaels' doctors are searching for a source of the bleeding where his brain is hemorrhaging.
The type of aneurysm that Bret has occurs in only about 2% of the population. Some people are born with it and have no clue that they have it until they start hemorrhaging. Sometimes even smoking can trigger the rupture.
A message was posted on Bret's website:
"At this point Bret remains in ICU in critical condition. He is under 24 hour doctors care and supervision. We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located. As we all know Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc., will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal. Everyone at Michaels Entertainment would like to thank all fans and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time."

Former Supertramp frontman Roger Hodgson has slammed the band's decision to reunite for a 40th anniversary tour without him.
Rick Davies, who founded the progressive rock band with Hodgson, has announced plans for a 2010 tour, and Hodgson, who quit the group in 1983, is furious he was never invited to take part.
The singer, who is currently midway through a solo tour, has released as statement, dubbing the move "misleading and disrespectful".
It reads, "We've been told that they are billing the tour as the 40th Anniversary tour of the band and we just find this very surprising, misleading and disrespectful of Roger since he is the only other member that was a part of Supertramp when he and Rick founded the band together 40 years ago.
"It would seem that you would want to invite the other co-founder and the bass player of the classic line up for the 40th anniversary of the band. So, we're really hoping it doesn't create any confusion in the marketplace or mislead anyone."
Hodgson adds that he offered to join Davies onstage during gaps in his own tour schedule, but that he was snubbed.
The statement continues, "Roger thought he could join Supertramp for a few special concerts when he doesn't have any scheduled shows... but (Davies' agent) told us adamantly that would 'never happen'."

Ashba, who officially replaces current NIN guitarist Robin Finck, is best known as co-founder of hard rock bands Sixx AM and Beautiful Creatures. "Dj's a gifted, energetic guitarist that Guns N' Roses is proud to have on board!!" exclaims Axl Rose. "We're very excited to have the opportunity to work together. Alan Parsons shaped Floyd's sound over the years. I'm glad he didn't partake in that crap called The Wall. Parson's production will outlive any Ezrin/Gilmour/Wright stuff by far ;D ;D

Monster Magnet are Recording Remember Monster Magnet? Yeah, you know: they were behind the late '90s smash "Space Lord," from their breakthrough Powertrip album. They had another hit in 2001 with "Heads Explode" from their God Says No LP. Well, they're working on a new album that they're describing as "guitar-heavy." (What, so they were going to go hip-hop or start using 8-bit samples?) Guitarist Ed Mundell recently told Metal Injection the album, which doesn't yet have a title, should be out sometime this summer. "[It will have] 15 tracks and Dave [Wyndorf, vocals/guitars] is doing the vocals right now," he said. "He couldn't make it tonight 'cause he's in Van Nuys doing vocals. We're waiting for him to finish it up." The disc is described as a bit of a departure from the New Jersey rockers' previous material, and Mundell says it's like "space rock and The Stooges." [Total departure, btw.] It's being produced by Matt Hyde (Die Mannequin, Strung Out). "There's no hit singles — it's all just rocking, lots of crazy effects. And Dave's singing better than ever. Lots of guitars. Four weeks of tracking guitars — nothing but guitars." Monster Magnet's last album was 2007's 4-Way Diablo.

I'll have to check these out and get back to you. I always like at least one of the recommendations you make on these lists of newer rock you occasionally make. I've probably bought about ten albums and even gone to a few shows base on your recommendations. To name a few Silvertide, The Last Vegas, Pepper's Ghost, American Minor, Gemini Five etc. I have Gemini Five's first album which is pretty good. I remember reading a review on AMG that called it "...thinking man's glam." I'll have to check these out I'm sure there's at least one I'll like.

Its ok...I wont hate on it too much. But why does her "Whole Lotta Love" remind me of Sly Fox's "Lets Go all the Way" I think the first part of Stairway sounds goofy. Sometimes covers work too often they sound karoke. It would've been better if she covered Sly Fox.

Report: GUNS N' ROSES' Guatemala Concert Cancelled Due To Poor Ticket Sales - Apr. 13, 2010 According to the Nuestro Diario newspaper, GUNS N' ROSES' April 13, 2010 concert in Guatemala City, Guatemala was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
"I feel sad and helpless in this situation," Pedro Michelena, the president of the company in charge of the event, Success Music Entertainment, told the newspaper. "We know that thousands of Guatemalans had the intention of seeing GUNS N' ROSES."
GUNS N' ROSES was scheduled to play a single concert tonight at Estadio El Ejército, which has a capacity of more than 15,000, but only about 3,000 tickets had been sold ahead of the event, according to the paper.
Concert organizers said in a statement that they will announce within 72 hours how ticket holders can go about getting a refund.
As previously reported, GUNS N' ROSES' April 9, 2010 concert at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in San Jose, Costa Rica was cancelled due to a faulty stage setup. The production agency 28 Producciones, which was in charge of the event, sent out an apologetic email to fans and members of the press. The email assured ticket-holding fans that they would be reimbursed and that all inquiries should be referred to the web page 28producciones.com.
