Legendary musician/engineer/producer ALAN PARSONS is still very active after a career that spans four decades. In addition to the release of a new live DVD/CD Eye To Eye – Live In Madrid, in an interview , Parsons said that he is considering recording a new studio album this year as well.
“I think I probably will make an album over the next twelve months,” Parsons told host Sterling Whitaker. He also divulged the name of one likely guest vocalist. “I think it almost goes without saying that if I make this album, I will definitely get Kip Winger involved in at least one track.”
The WINGER leader has worked with the Alan Parsons Live Project in the past, and in his own interview with Long Live Rock he shared the story of writing a letter to Alan when he was just another young fan, and how he treasured the letter Parsons wrote back for years and years. When he finally got to work with Alan, Kip showed him the actual letter, a story Parsons confirmed.
“Thank God I did write back to him,” Parsons said with a laugh. “There were a lot of people I didn't write back to. Kip's a lovely guy and a great singer, and a great musical talent. I love him to death.”
In the meantime there's a new track called 'All Our Yesterdays' included on Parsons' new three DVD project The Art and Science of Sound Recording, in which the legendary engineer - who began his career as an assistant engineer at Abbey Road working with The Beatles, and went on to score the first of ten Grammy nominations by engineering Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon - interviews many of the top engineers and producers in the world, from rock to country, on the subject of sound recording and production. The film documents the recording process for “All Our Yesterdays” from inception, right up to final mix.

This DVD by David Gilmour is his best live performance I've seen. It's as good as anything he's put out since Waters left Pink Floyd. It's an amazing show.

I really enjoy this forum and have for years. It doesn't have as much traffic as it had in the past but I still enjoy it. I really like the way you change up the graphics. It always looks good. My favorite banner is the rnr house. That one is always cool. The only thing and it's a minor point is imo the reviews, concerts, Interviews and news etc should be left in the main talk section and not seperated out. ...and since the snow cone machine is broke maybe we should try vodka slurpies. Cheers!!

As rumored in recent months, Roger Waters is taking Pink Floyd's "The Wall" on the road this fall for a 36-date North American tour starting Sept. 15 in Toronto and wrapping Dec. 13 in Anaheim.
Prior to this, the 1979 concept album has only been performed 31 times -- by PInk Floyd in 1980-81 with limited engagements in Los Angeles, London, Uniondale, N.Y. and Dortmund, West Germany, and an all-star presentation by Waters in July of 1990 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Waters, who played "The Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety during 2007-08, will reportedly take "The Wall" to Europe in 2011, but no dates have yet been announced.
The show will be a state-of-the art affair, featuring a 240-foot-wide and 35-foot-tall wall constructed and subsequently torn down during the concerts. Other props and special effects are expected to be part of the show as well.
Waters is re-launching his official web site at 2 p.m. today with ticket sale information.
Released in November of 1979, "The Wall" -- which focuses on a disaffected young musician facing an existential personal crisis that reflected Waters' state of mind at the time -- spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified 23-times platinum and won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Recording -- Non-Classical.

Duff set to quit Velvet Revolver? Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins says new recruit Duff McKagan has committed to being a full-time member of the band –and it might mark the end of his time with the dormant Velvet Revolver outfit. VR went on hiatus two years ago after sacking singer Scott Weiland, who returned to Stone Temple Pilots. Efforts to find a new singer have continued on and off, with band members regularly saying the hunt is still on. Meanwhile, guitarist Slash is touring his solo album while McKagan –who also fronts his own band, Loaded – was announced as Eric Avery's replacement in Jane's Addiction last week. And Perkins says their new member will clarify his position soon. He says "Duff knows how fragile bands are, but he's in for the ride. He's with us. He's one of us. Jane's Addiction is now the four of us: Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Duff and myself. "Duff's a full-time member and he's ready to bite off as much as we are. What that means for the future of Velvet Revolver, I don't know – I think he might be getting ready to say something in the column he writes for the Seattle Weekly." Perkins says the band weren't surprised when Avery finally left after months of hinting his heart wasn't in it. He explains: "Eric's decision is Eric's decision. I can't speak for him, but it's something that's been on his mind for a while. "Jane's Addiction has always dealt with extremes, whether musical or the way we work as a band. Moving forward is something we all want to do now, but Eric didn't want to move in the same way. He didn't feel the same sense of commitment to making new music. We couldn't force him to do something he doesn't feel, so that's kind of that. "We have to evolve. We discussed a few different bass players but suddenly Duff came into our lives. We had a jam or two and it felt great and we all said, 'Okay, why don't we do this?' "It's a cool clash of styles. We feel really together now as a band, very unified, and there's a lot of fresh energy. We're finding ourselves again. Even playing older songs like Mountain Song, it feels new again. "It's going to sound different to a lot of people, but maybe they'll appreciate it on a new level. I know we are."

Japan's Biggest Rock Band to Play Lollapalooza They are the biggest rock band in Japanese history. They've sold more than 30-million units worldwide. They've sold out Japan's 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome 18 times...so far. Their look was the direct inspiration for today's Anime. Yoshiki, the band's leader, songwriter, drummer and classically-trained pianist, was commissioned to compose and perform a piano concerto for the Emperor of Japan to help celebrate the Emperor's 10th year on the throne. Their song "I.V." was written for the 2007 international blockbuster horror film "Saw IV," and played over the film's closing credits. They are the first-ever Japanese band to play Lollapalooza's Main Stage, and will play August 2010 at Grant Park in Chicago. Their first U.S. release is set for this summer. Even with all of this success, you may have never heard of them. But that's about to change they are X Japan

Slash Sneaks Conan O'Brien Onto Leno ShowApril 7, 2010 Slash pulled off the ultimate act of defiance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last night -- dude rocked a Team Coco pin on the air during his performance at the end of the show! Though it appears NBC tried to edit around the Conan O'Brien support symbol, a few shots of the pin still managed to make air. No word if Jay even noticed. Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has revealed that Van Halen were making a relative pittance from their worldwide success until incoming singer Sammy Hagar forced their record label to make new deals with his new bandmates. Hagar was already a big name after a stint with Montrose and his solo work when in 1985 he replaced David Lee Roth in Van Halen. By that time the band were riding high with the success of their sixth album 1984, featuring the tracks Jump, Panama and Hot For Teacher.
But Anthony says the band weren't making much money – until Hagar changed that. The bassist tells Attention Deficit Delirium: "We didn't have a really good contract until Sammy came in. He came in with his manager and he said, 'What the f'k? Let's redo your contract'. Then all of a sudden it was really poppin'. We'd been looking around and a lot of the guys at Warners had heir summer houses and nice vacations. I guess we were paying for that."
The debt owed by Van Halen to Hagar is just one reason why Anthony is happy to be seen to have sided with his singer in the notorious fall-out between them and brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen.
But he insists: "It wasn't that I chose to stay with Sammy. It's just that the brothers, mainly Eddie, were so bent that I'd buddied up with him after he left the band that they wanted to exclude me from everything they did.
"I'd have gone back and done a reunion with those guys. I don't want to be bitching and moaning and playing games until I go to the grave. Unfortunately the Van Halen brothers still want to play those games.
"I want to have fun – and that's what Chickenfoot is – it's for us to have fun and not demand the big money. We did it because we're friends and we love playing the music."
Van Halen reunited with Roth in 2007 and replaced Anthony with Eddie's teenage son Wolfgang, risking the wrath of fans by superimposing Wolfgang's image over Anthony's on their website. They also showed the youngster performing bass parts in their video game - even though he hadn't been born when they were recorded.
Chickenfoot, starring Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith alongside Anthony and Hagar, are working on a second album after their self-titled debut was a big success last year.

Y&T, featuring original members Dave Meniketti (vocals and lead guitars) and Phil Kennemore (bass), along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums) have recorded their first studio album in 13 years, aptly titled “Facemelter” to be released in Europe on May 21st on Frontiers Records.
With a discography of 18 albums and three greatest hits collections, Y&T has sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band has toured with numerous Rock icons including OZZY OSBOURNE, AC/DC, AEROSMITH, and MÖTLEY CRÜE, receiving constant and extensive airplay with hits such as 'Forever', 'Rescue Me', 'Mean Streak', and 'Summertime Girls'. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five US top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T’s hits are still played nowadays on classic rock radio stations everywhere. Y&T’s high-energy music still captivates legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T’s music timeless.
As the title indicates, Facemelter—the anticipated new recording—is a hard rockin’, song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band’s raw energy and tightness that they’ve become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes—the same artist who designed covers for Y&T’s classic albums Mean Streak, Black Tiger and In Rock We Trust—to create the amazing art of the new Facemelter.
“What a great feeling to dive back into making new Y&T music,” states Dave Meniketti. “After being away from it for this long, the anticipation of writing a new CD worth of material was, at first, a bit scary, but as soon as we started up I was happy to find how natural it was to get right back in it again. I think we're going to have to keep this up, because musically and emotionally, we still have a lot to say!”
“It's ridiculous that we waited so long to make a new record,” states Phil Kennemore. “In creating new music for Facemelter, I rediscovered the most important thing for any artist, and that is to continue creating . . . it feeds my soul. My hope for Facemelter is that people might just find a few new favorite Y&T songs.”
"We recorded together to capture as much of a live feel as possible which I feel is the strong point of the band," adds Mike Vanderhule, while according to John Nymann, “The chemistry we have between us makes it so easy to develop ideas. Now that we are ignited with new material, I can't wait to bring it to the stage.”
Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-’70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, “you melted my face,” which inspired the group’s first publishing company: Facemelting Music.
If you haven’t yet taken Y&T’s new album for a ride, grab your leathers, strap yourself in, and prepare to have your face melted.
