What a guilty pleasure and a throwback to the days of old. With its strong, in your face melodies, this new Accept album makes me feel like I just left high school on a Friday afternoon and I’m stopping bar to bar trying to buy a 12 pack without getting carded… …with my horrid mullet, bad mustache and all. This isn't even one of the best songs, but I only had two to choose from.

I dunno, though. I like them better when the singer isn't singing.

I actually played their music in the morning as I cleaned the house. Then afterwards we went out. So it wasn’t quite the ceremony I was looking for…but it’ll do for now. There's always next weekend too.

The new nerdy thing I'm doing: Starting this year I'll be inducting five artists into the Laszlo Rock n Roll Hall of Fame every July. These are artists that had a impact on MY life. The only rule is I had to have started listening to them 20 or more years ago. The inductees this year are: Pat Benatar Crosby, Stills & Nash Iron Maiden Ronnie James Dio Rush I'm sure they would all feel honored. Ceremonies are this Saturday in my home bar. I'll be listening to select cuts by each artist as I sip on Corona Lights. A speech will be given to induct each artist and my cats will be the audience. OK...yes....I'm kidding about the "speech thing."

I was just going with "artists" in general. If someone asks me what my favorite band is, I start naming both bands and solo artists without thinking twice. A lot of solo artists do have the same band behind them for a good amount of time (Bob Dylan had the Band behind him for a bit)...so in my mind it's all the same.

I made a list a while back of my favorite 100 or so metal songs. I decided to take about 50 steps further and make it my top 666 metal songs. It was hard to decide what’s metal and what’s not. I mean, do I include older Rush? And if I do, do I include Zeppelin as well? Is older Bon Jovi metal? Not all Aice in Chains is metal, but is all Soundgarden metal? Well…don’t ask me how I came to deciding what’s metal and what’s not. It was all too complicated in my brain to put into words.

John Mellencamp Santana Danzig Supertramp Opeth Testament The Who Witchcraft Cracker Manchester Orchestra The Scorpions (how I’ve missed them in the last 30 years, I don’t know) Fleetwood Mac- I saw them in the early to mid-90s with that wacky lineup…but that doesn’t count. Dire Straits if they ever got back together It sucks I missed Genesis on the last tour. It looks like that was my last shot.

Jesse, I think you are using a little too much logic and stats in determining who should be in and not be in. This is pop/rock music…not sports (where there are definite stats, numbers and wins). You can hate the Sex Pistols and say how they have one “real album” to their name…but the simple truth is they belong in. When one thinks of punk rock they are one of the first bands that come to mind. For a long, long time, before the Ramones became an overrated iconic sensation (after a few of the members died), The Sex Pistols were the face of punk rock. For that alone, they should go in. When thinking of who goes in, one has to put down the paper and pen, stop cramming album sales, number of albums, years of activity, ect… You just gotta “go with your heart”. And if a certain kind of music isn’t in YOUR heart, talk to a few other people who have that kind of music in THEIR heart. I’m no Tom Waits fan. I hate him. But I see the impact he has had with his “artsy” kinda rock. And I see how much his fans adore him…and how LONG they’ve adored him. He’s an icon within his weird-ass hipster genre. Would I rather see Deep Purple go in before him? Yea. But I ain’t gonna argue with him being in. The only thing that surprises me is when acts like 60s doo-wop bands or 70s funk bands go in. Some I never HEARD of. Some don’t even have a signature song that people know. Some have one minor hit. The O’Jays? Love Train is THAT big of a deal? The Dells? Little Walter? The Moonglows? The Famous Flames?? The Blue Caps???

Here's mine: 10-Crossroads 9-Forever Man 8-Sunshine Of Your Love 7-White Room 6-No Alibis 5-The Core (Would be #1 but it runs a little too long for me) 4-Pretending 3-Bad Love 2-Let It Rain 1-Layla I'm surprised a few of his more country-flavored songs (I’ve Got a Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart, Promises) didn't make the cut.
