I think # 1 is pretty obvious......as is #2. I'm having trouble working out 3-10. I'd like to see what others come up with here before I list mine.

Here's what I'm going with:
10-Led Zeppelin. I don't care, I know they were only active for a little over a year of the 1960's, but they came out with twice the classic albums of Iron Butterfly in that time.
9-The Doors. Probably should be higher, but I don't particularly care for them.
8-The Byrds.
7-Cream
6-The Who. Would be higher, but alot of my favorite songs of theirs are actually from the 1970's....hey, I feel another list coming on!
5-Jimi Hendrix Experience
4-The Kinks
3-The Beach Boys. Hard to picture the 1960's without instantly thinking of one or two of their songs.
2- Rolling Stones, Duh
1-The Beatles. I don't like them all that much, but when it comes to best bands of the 1960's, well....double duh!
I'm sure there are some great ones that I forgot, but gimmie a break, I was born in 1972!

I was just going with "artists" in general. If someone asks me what my favorite band is, I start naming both bands and solo artists without thinking twice. A lot of solo artists do have the same band behind them for a good amount of time (Bob Dylan had the Band behind him for a bit)...so in my mind it's all the same.

I specifically said "bands" because that's what I was looking for, but hey, I'll count count Bob Dylan and The Band. Besides, what am I going to do, run you off the board? Then it'll just be me and Frank!
