It looks like after 15 years, this whole classic rock message-board-thing is finally dead. We had Bowie and Glenn Frey die recently and no one said “boo” on here about it. If that isn’t a sign that things have come to an end, then I don’t know what is.
It was fun when things were at their peak. But I’ve watched members leave one-by-one and never return. It came to a halt Genesis-style with “…And Then There Were Three.” But now even the three people who posted of late are never on.
So, I guess this is mostly farewell. It’s been real. I’m on Facebook. (https://www.facebook.com/jamie.laszlo)
I hope everyone has a great life. Do your part to keep rock alive! Support younger rock bands…cuz all the older legends are dying!
Byeeee!!!!

I'm being the lead singer for Halloween. I got the pope hate, cloak, makeup and Ghost logos. I'm gonna make the neighborhood kids cry...ha.
I saw them a few years ago and they were great. If I had to pick a favorite album, I'd go with their first. But this new one comes close.

Ok....im listening to the new Buckcherry. It's far from perfect. But it's the best thing they've done in 10 years.

If I don’t keep my music collection fresh with new music my life seems to feel stale.

I'm not sure what happened between me and Buckcherry. But I just don't like their albums any longer. Their first two are the only ones I still listen to, if I listen to them at all anymore. I think the Fuck Album was the nail in the coffin for me.
**Well...I JUST NOW listened to their new song, The Madness, for the 1st time and it isn't that bad.

I have never seen this much music coming out that I, personally, am excited for. Now, I expect some albums to be a lot better than others, but this is the list of all the new ones I’ll be checking out this Fall. I can’t remember the last time three albums I cared about dropped on the same day, and there are THREE days that happens in the next six weeks. It’s gonna be a great soundtrack to College Football Saturdays this Fall.
August 21st: The Sword August 21st: Ghost August 21st: Kadavar August 28th: Motörhead September 4th: Iron Maiden September 11th: Slayer September 18th: Chris Cornell September 18th: Metric September 18th: David Gilmour September 25th: Graveyard September 25th: Silversun Pickups October 2nd: Clutch October 2nd: Queensrÿche October 2nd: Trivium October 9th: Coheed and Cambria October 9th: Monster Magnet December: Baroness

Does anyone else think it’s weird that the last album had a song called The Alchemist, which is a title of an older Bruce Dickinson song…and THIS new one has a song called The Man of Sorrows which is also a title of an older Bruce Dickinson song (without the “The”).

www.ironmaiden.com/new-iron-maiden-studio-album-the-book-of-souls.htmlIRON MAIDEN’s eagerly awaited new studio album The Book Of Souls will be released globally on 4th September through Parlophone Records (Sanctuary Copyrights/BMG in the U.S.A.). It was recorded in Paris with their longstanding producer Kevin “Caveman” Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added earlier this year. However, the band decided to delay its release so that vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who was recently given the all-clear from a tumour, would have time to recuperate sufficiently to join in the preparations for the album’s launch. The stunning cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson, who has worked with the band previously, and because this 11-track album has a total running time of 92 minutes, it is IRON MAIDEN’s first ever double studio album. There’s a broader split on the songwriting compared to previous Maiden records, with bassist and founder member Steve Harris contributing to seven of the tracks; 6 of them with Maiden’s guitarists and one sole composition. This is also the first time since 1984’s Powerslave that an IRON MAIDEN studio album also features two tracks written solely by Bruce Dickinson, one of which is the longest song Maiden has ever recorded! And also two Dickinson/Smith collaborations.

I like Winds of Change, True Colors and Free Bird. I think the only people who bag on Smells Like Teen Spirit are the ones who are bitter about how it changed the face of rock music at the time. I like it…but I’m so sick of it I never listen to it by my own choice. I can pretty much go the rest of my life without hearing Cowboy again as well. Madonna has better songs than Music…but she has a lot of worse ones too. I Wanna Rock is pretty repetitive. I can’t listen to Ted Nugent anymore because of his mouth outside of the “music world”. Rockstar, as well as all other Nickleback songs, just seem generic and formulaic to me. They have a simple blueprint they use in writing songs, and they don’t stray from it too far. Other bands do as well (AC/DC), but some formulas get stale a lot quicker than others. Now for the biggie: I would call Cherry Pie the worst rock song of the 80s. Maybe of all time. I could get into reasons, but I’m not sure it matters when one hates a song as much as I hate this one. It’s like asking me why murder is such a bad crime. It just is…and there’s no sense in getting into the “whys” of it.
