The Elder Born Again Seventh Star
Are all albums I like. I think probably the one I like that most people hate most is Judas Priest DEMOLITION.

Good stories.
I married one of those people. She's my soul mate but she don't care squat about music. What music she does like is COUNTRY! Oh well I didn't marry her for her music knowledge.

Also, consider how you play, and what you feel comfortable with. It's all nice to be able to say you've got a Les Paul, which is really why I bought mine. But if you never really feel comfortable playing it, you won't. It took owning a Paul for 7 years alongside an assortment of Strats to realize that I just don't feel comfortable with them. My next guitar will likely be another Strat. So true. I have NEVER been able to play a LesPaul comfortably. I always lean towards BIG guitars like Explorer's, Dean ML's and Firebirds. Most people DON'T like those. Guitars are like women. If they make you FEEL good they ARE GOOD. Regardless of what they look like or what other people think. Rock On.

Just 2 more cents. It is rumored that MF has bought Gibson/Epiphone so expect the quality to go down quite a bit.

Just my 2 cents. DON'T BUY ANY GUITAR BY MAIL. Also check out these: They blow away the Epi's by a mile. They are ESP LTD's. They are excellent guitars. They have great hardware, tuners and EMG 81's or Duncan jb/59 pickups. Try one of these when you go to GC and try the Epis. You will feel and hear a HUGE difference. Right now they are 739.99 in the musicians friend catelog. If you call to order and they give you a HIGHER price just tell them you have 739.99 in YOUR catelog and they will give it to you. When ordering from MF ALWAYS check the website AND the catelog. the prices NEVER jibe and you may get a better deal either way.

Lets get the story right here...it wasn't 'the Lifesons" that were up on stage, it was Alex's son who jumped up on stage, and Alex was trying to help his son when he was being physically removed from the building... Sorry...I support him on this...I am not saying it was right what his son did, but it wasn't right what the cops did to them in the stairwell either...you see this kind of thing going on all the time with the police...it's about time someone with some money actually is actually able to take them to court on the abuse... I hope he wins. RUSH I respect your opinion, but if my son was being arrested I would go to the Police Station and take care of it there. I sure as heck would not get into a brawl with the Police, out numbered and outmanned. Neither of us were there so we are talking out of our asses, but I still think there is a way to do things. In fact, had they just went to the station chances are that NOTHING would have happened. Police in these areas are well conditioned into handling over medicated partiers. It is BIG MONEY in these areas. Alex tried to intervene. When he saw that they were not going to leave his son at the venue he got pissed and knocked a female officer down the stairs. I HAVE to side with the Police on this one. They have to have some level of control. If it had benn you or I we would have gotten the max.

I love RUSH and Alex, but do you think if any of US had hit a cop we could have "got off."
Alex should have just been happy he isn't rotting in jail.
If you are getting "falsely arrested" the answer isn't to KICK ASS. Getting on stage with a band is NOT a RIGHT during a drunken night out. I hate it when I am playing and some drunk ASS gets onstage because he thinks it is his right. All the Lifesons had to do was get off the stage and go sit down.
The sad truth is that because Alex has a name and money he was able to get off pretty much scot free. Now he takes the chance to rub it in the faces of the cops. I think it makes him look like a BIG ASS. I have lost respect for him IMO.
I have had the chance to play with rock stars before. Even THEY ask if they can JAM or play your equipment.

Get out!!! You did not call Ace's Mom. It's sad but true. We were such KISS idiots that we used to call information in NY to try and get their phone numbers. We'd say stupid crap like it was an emergency and we were relatives...on and on. One time we read an article that named ACE's parents. We called information for the Bronx and got their phone number. I am not kidding Esther Frehley was the nicest person. She talked forever with us. We called her at least once a week for a couple of years. We thought it was SO COOL to talk to ACE's mom. We ALWAYS tried on EVERY call to get ACE's phone number but she always declined nicely. Still she never got mad or hung up on us. Later in an interview with ACE he mentioned that things were so crazy for KISS that kids were calling his mom on the phone. He offered to pay for an unlisted number but she said "no" that she enjoyed talking to the children. When I read the news it was really weird that I felt that a relative died. Now that I am older I really appreciate the time she gave us. I wish I could thank her.

When we we're in Junior High some how we got ahold of ACE's mom's phone number. We used to call her all the time and talk to her. She was ALWAYS nice and would talk to us however long we wanted. I just cringe now when I think of this poor women being barraged with STUPID questions by a bunch of idiots. She always treated us like we were her long lost children calling. Very nice lady.

Roth era has the best and the WORST songs. What was great was GREAT what was bad STUNK!
Van Hagar had better albums front to back. In fact I believe the F*U*C*K is the BEST Van Halen album other than the debut. Balance also kicks major ass and gets no props.
I thought that Van Hagar never got their chance to peak. EVH saw $$$$ signs after talking to Roth and appearing at the Grammy's. They tried to pull a KISS and it did not work.

I seriously doubt if most of us "hate" ozzy at all, and certainly not because he is more popular than dio as you stated Don't put words in my MOUTH. READ what is there not what you THINK is there. I said: There is a BIG difference. You mean to tell me that OZZY's overexposure has not played any part in your decision? It sure has mine. When I was a kid IRON MAN kicked ass, CRAZY TRAIN was awesome. These days if I EVER hear either song again I will PUKE. Sort of like FREEBIRD, STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, and so on and so on.... these songs suddenly didn't get Sh*tTY. They just wore them out. 99% of Ozzy's music has been ground into the dirt until I can't stand to hear it. Only some of the old SABBATH can hold up for me in his canon. DIO gets little play these days. He seems fresher and better. However, if we had to listen to HOLY DIVER 75 times a day we'd feel the same way. OZZY seems tired because they wore him out. DIO seems fresh because he is not overplayed.

Basically Speedy, no offense, but your post is pretty much the talking points of every music magazine in the industry. I don't disagree with much of what you said, it's just that I don't see the point in it all. I know Ozzy's credentials, but I also know what I enjoy listening too......and I'll take Dio anyday over the Ozzman, now or during either's hey day. ;D I know what you are saying. I was just pointing out that DIO is not even in OZZY's league wether you, I or anyone on this board likes it. Hey I really don't like Zep but I would be a fool to say that they SUCK or that Twisted Sister is better. Just like the dimwits who say the Beatles suck.

Uhm, I really like DIO and he might even be the "better" singer....
but DIO is not even a pimple on OZZY's ass. Most of you hate Ozzy because he has been driven into the ground, over exposed and overplayed. WHY? Because he is so damn popular and a LEGEND.
Dio has made a career out of a style of music that was INVENTED by Ozzy and the Sabs. You might LIKE Dio better but there is NO DOUBT that OZZY is bigger, more popular, and will live forever. Ozzy can still do stadiums. The last time Dio was here he played a 1500 seater with plenty of empties.
DIO is legendary. OZZY is a LEGEND.
No need to pick songs.....Ozzy has plenty of albums without a single bad tune.

I like the song. It is no more "spinal tap" than Electric Eye, The Sentinal or Nightcrawler. Priest has ALWAYS done these types of songs. I call them "visualization" tunes. Where the idea is to give you an image of a legendary or science fiction character. How about Saints in Hell? The angels and Saints are fighting Satan in an epic battle? Hmmm. Hell Bent For Leather? The powerful biker crushing all those in his way? Is Loch Ness any dumber than DEMONIZER?
In fact I think AOR is exactly what I wanted and expected from PRIEST. Varied tempos and song styles. Escapism and fantasy. I am amazed at the people who have said this album does not represent the PRIEST they know.
WHAT PRIEST DO THEY KNOW? Judas Priest has always been about taking chances and not treading water with their music. Grow or die as they always say. Those that guage every PRIEST song to Painkiller or Exciter are retarded. PRIEST was never just about that. In fact some of their most lauded albums have little or NO SHRIEKING! There are many songs like Angel and Worth Fighting For in the PRIEST cannon. Those are damn good songs. David Lee Roth said it best "where is there a rule that says I have to slam my head to every song on every album?". If you expected something else out of AOR you cannot really be a JUDAS PRIEST fan. If you were you would have expected AOR. Is it their BEST EVER, no. Is it crap NO! I'd stick it in the middle somewhere.
HELL! Just be glad that ONE of our past faves is willing to put it all on the line with new material. PRIEST is already working on the next album! Figgin A. At least they have the BALLS to put something out.

Speedy since you are obviously very knowledgable on the subject of guitars and guitarists style, where would you classify Ace Frehley in terms of pickup style? Especially since he customized his Les Pauls and added a third pickup. ACE was a bridge pickup guy. He often had all the other pickups disconnected on his Les Paul's. He just like the look. In fact many of his "3-pick-up" Les Pauls were actually just 2 pickup guitars with a FAKE third pickup glued on. The only REAL 3 pickup guitar ACE used in the 70's was the cherry sunburst. Even it only had the bridge pickup connected. All the other 3 pickup guitars were "fakes". If you are so inclined this site www.acelp.homestead.com/intro.html goes in HUGE detail about all of ACE's guitars including his smokers. the guy is NOT a flake and know what he is talking about.
