Blender magazine is a complete waste of column space anyway. Anything that they have to say is not something I want to pay attention to. That said the "whitey" thing........wow.....can you imagine what woulda happened if it had said "coon" or "spade"? Todays social double standards are at their worst in those few lines. Not quite. There's a difference with being racist, and mocking one's own race. I'm assuming, and probably correct in doiung so, that the person who wrote the article is white. Hence, they are mocking their own race in a sterotypical way. Look at all those black Gangsta rappers freely using the word "niggaz". Look at the film "White Men Can't Jump". It's directed by a "Whitey". You can mock one's own people, but not those from other races. Rightly or wrongly, I don't think it's racism. Merely having a laugh at one's expense. BULLSH*T! If the Cleveland Indians logo is racsist, that article is racist. Period. I hear what you are saying, and I may believe it. However I am sick and tired of "racism" being a ONE WAY STREET. It only applies to any race but WHITE. I do see some others feeling my way. Watch Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central. That is some funny stuff.

Rush In Rio has entirely too much audience noise, which is the wasy they mixed it to capture more of an audience perspective of the show. I'm all for hearing audience noise on a live recording. Heck, it wouldn't be much of a live recording without a little feedback from the audience. But Rush In Rio takes it a little far. It's still a decent recording, but my least favorite of Rush's six "official" live recordings. I have some bootlegs that don't sound so good, but those don't count:) Mark As a CD maybe it sucks, but the DVD is the BEST live thing RUSH has ever done. It shows that they still are a ROCK band and feed off the crowd. It is the closest they have gotten to their early days in YEARS! I can watch it everyday. R30 is ok, but RUSH in RIO is how it feels to be at the show.

I love ALIVE! and was looking forward to II. However it sounds like crap IMO. A few songs are better, but all in all very flat.

1. List one album that you would like to have autographed by an original band member. I would love to have ACE Frehleys 78 KISS album autographed by him. 2. Name one member of any group that you would invite over for a Sunday dinner and why. ACE Frehley. because he was my inspiration to pick up a guitar and get into music. 3. Name 3 people from the RnR Universe that you would like to meet. Don't know if I WANT to meet any. I like my own mental picture of them. However I would jump at the chance to meet any and all people who love music like I do. 4. List 3 of your favourite foods and why you like them. Seafood, Chinese, Mexican. They taste good....why else 5. Name the one instrument that you would kill for in order to be a virtuoso at. Not that I am a "virtuoso" but I play guitar, drums, and bass relatively well....well enough to be happy. I dabble at keys and always thought PIANO would be a cool instrument. I pick piano. 6. Name the one occupation that you thought you would end up going through for at an early age. I always thought i would be a rockstar. I based my whole life on being a rockstar. I never thought of anything else. Now I am 43 and I am a semi-pro musician. Even though I am too old in the back of my head I think I will be a rockstar. However, I am a taxidermist. 7. Name one other country that you'd like to live in other than the one that you reside in now. CANADA - Go there every summer. Cry every time I come home. I am laid back like the Canadians I know. 8. If there was a world-wide, open talent contest being held, all groups considered, which band would you audition for and why. None. I like my bands the way they are. I don't want NEW guys. I don't want to be the guy that ruined AC/DC. I would MUCH rather make it on my own. However I would love to play for any of my faves. Maybe I could play bass for Uncle Ted....I could live with that If Derek St Holmes would sing. That would be easiest to swallow. I sure wouldn't want to play GUITAR with him. How embarrassing. 9. Name the one concert that you're still kicking yer butt for in passing up by not attending. I actually have two. Roy Orbison. His last show was here in Ohio. I was just plain broke. he died the next day. Stevie Ray Vaughn/Jeff Beck. I was broke again and couldn't go. SRV died a few weeks later 10. Name your all time favourite tv show. (one only). Andy Griffith 11. If you could go back in time...who would you like to meet? Jesus 12. Given the chance, out of all the long past musicians would you most want to bring back. That's a tough one. either Roy Orbison or Freddy Mercury 13. In your opinion, who was the most attractive male artist over the last 50 years. I really don't know any "attractive" men. 14. In your opinion, who was the "least" attractive male artist over the last 50 years...( you thought I was gonna ask "most attractive "female" artist didn't ya? ... ). Bobby Ingram 15. In your opinion..."who's the sexiest chic to rock yer world with a geetar in her hand over the last 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!...okay, or the most attractive female artist over the last 50 years... Wendy O Williams in her prime.

Black Sabbath Paranoid make take notice. I wasn't allowed to buy that.
My first hard rock album was Grand Funk Railroad On Time.
The album that inspired me to finally pick up a guitar was KISS ALIVE! I'd say it inspired me most.

I supported KISS in all eras up until this one. I just can't get past it. I accept new members. I liked Van Hagar....maybe better than Roth Halen but Sammy didn't dress up like Dave and act like him.
KISS is a tribute band now.

I think the KISS RTN live DVD kicks ass dude. I can appreciate that. Many people do like it. I just don't. Thayer is just plain boring. He might as well not even be on stage IMO. He gets the notes (mostly) right, but there is no feel or power. Just notes. Even worse his make-up looks like crap and is WRONG. if you are gonna imitate the spaceman do it right. there are many better ACE's in KISS Tributes across the nation. Gene and Paul might as well get one of them. Eric Singer is a great drummer and a super nice guy. Probably not a better drummer in rock currently(there are some equal to him...but not many better). His playing on the old tunes during the Revenge era was fantastic. He brought a fire and style to the music. Unfortunately, since he has donned the Catman get up Paul and Gene have asked him to tone it down. now he sounds like a drum machine. BORING. The only song he tears it up in is UNHOLY.....one of the tunes HE did in his style. By dumbing him down his FLASH and CHOPS are gone, the part of his style that is great. He has NO GROOVE because he just isn't that style player. He is a very mechanical player and without the triplets and double basswork it sounds like a machine. IMO. Peter Criss had GROOVE. It's why it worked even though he wasn't the "best" drummer of the 70's. He was the best for KISS. He's a Charlie Watts. I'm an old school KISS fan so maybe I look at it different than others. All the members of a band make the band into something different. Change ONE guy and the band changes. Don't believe me..... Each time JUDAS PRIEST changed drummers, the music changed immensly. The drummer of Judas Priest is probably the LEAST important member.

I actually don't see it like Rob. In the old days a band would start to decline in popularity and no one knew why. these days bands can check their BB and see why. They may choose to ignore it, they don't really want to hear it, but it's there for them to see.
On the KISS issue there is no bigger fan than I ever was but the Singer/Thayer KISS stinks. My son got the Rock the Nation DVD for a gift and I have to say it is BORING. Either let Singer play the way HE plays or forget it. He has absolutely NO GROOVE on the old tunes. he clearly is a superior player to Pete but he has to use HIS style. Dumbing him down like Paul and Gene have has made him mediocre at best. he's one of the best players in rock......let him play.
Thayer is "ok". He doesn't have anything special about his playing as the ACE did. IMO.
The whole KISS deal is a joke now IMO. When OTHER bands I love got new members they didn't dress them up like the old ones. Imagine the OUTRAGE if Paul Rogers came out in ballet slippers and tights....OR he wore the crown and robe. QUEEN would be murdered. DIO didn't dress, sing or act like Ozzy. Brian Johnson doesn't act like Bon. Dickinson didn't try and act like Dianno. I had no problem with any KISS lineup changes until now. Even when they were Sh*tty in the 80's.
If you get new members.......GET NEW MEMBERS!
KISS IS: Gene $immons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, ACE Frehley.

most people are casual music listeners at best.
many people don't give a crap about talking on the internet
Many people still have dial-up and BB's SUCK on dial up
BB's are for hardcores
You are asking the wrong people why others don't come here. How about running the question on the main page with a poll? You might find your answer there.
If you started having parties every weekend at first they would be crowded. After awhile the crowds would thin out. Finally, you would end up with a nice group of friends that showed up every weekend to hang out with each other. Would you tell them "since the rest of those people are not coming anymore I am not having parties anymore......AND you guys are not welcome here either." Goodbye.
I may not the most active person here, but I like the board. When I have time I come here and check it out.
I don't understand the problem. Sure, it is cool to have a huge number of people hanging out, but if only us few do hang out, so what. I went through the BS at CRR that you speak of. I didn't understand it then or now.
Does this board cost $$?
Do you make money off it?
If that is the case I understand. Otherwise I don't get it. Enlighten me. If my post sounds negative, it is not. I REALLY don't understand the issue.
PS. If this board is getting shut down please give us 30 days notice. I have had many free BB's in the past. They require no work or cost.(that is why I don't get it). I have one I was building for the Mr Speed website before I quit the band. I would be glad to put it up and running for the members here. At least we would not have to lose each other again.

Many albums and bands go in and out of rotation here.
If I had to pick ONE......KISS ALIVE! It never goes out of the top tier for me. In fact the first 4 KISS albums are magic to me. The next four are classics IMO.

Hmm. I'm not gonna puss out and say RAP and hip hop. That is a given. I'll pick bands that people generally like that I really don't care for at all.
Journey - Steve Perry makes me ill
Styx - Dennis Deyoung's voice always sounds like he's making baby talk
Motley Crue - Love the first album.....the rest is garbage IMO
Solo Ozzy Osborne - RR was a great player. Still really don't care for it except a few tunes
Led Zep - Can't say they suck.....I just don't like them

I am not saying EVH is drinking or not, but whoever said that cancer/chemo/radiation cannot do that to a persons appearance is WAY OFF BASE.
I worked 17 years in the health care field and can tell you that the ravages of cancer.....and its treatment can change your appearance to the point that you are unrecognizable.
Add to the fact that the cancer was in his facial area, that means his facial features will be taking the biggest hit from the radiation.
I think EVH has done stupid things in the past. i think he has ruined the band at the moment BUT I cringe when people make fun of EVH when he has gone through a disease and treatments that literally ruin your body. I can guarentee that it HURTS his feelings, wether or not he would say so.
I magine if you had cancer....all your hair falls out, your skin peels and discolors from treatment, your teeth break and rot, you can't eat and lose tons of weight. Then the local paper prints a picture of you and says you look like SHIT! No wonder he has been lying low.

Because Mark is weird. How else can you say it. He actually tours as a christian rocker(he calls it God rocK) and prefers to do that to GFR. He also is deeply involved in conservative politics, not that there is anything wrong with that, I feel pretty much the same way as he and Uncle Ted, but he has developed a sort of balloon that keeps him out of the R&R circle. Maybe because of his religious beliefs. If you go to his website you can read some of his rants. I can see wanting to move on and do something different, however why can't you do both?
I understand the Atomic Playboy. GFR is the band that I started with and they hold a special place to me. Sure, I'd rather see Mark up there. However that isn't happening, and the only chance to see Mel Schacher play his fantastic basslines and Don Brewer pound the drums is at the GFR show. Bruce Kulick is a great player and person, the rest of the band is good as well. Is it Grand Funk.......not really. Is it a great band that puts on a great show HELL YES! Would you go if they called it POTATO SALAD? It is not like they KICKED MARK OUT!! In fact they begged him to play. So it is what it is.
I know how you feel though, I cannot stomach FAKE KISS. However they don't have anyone acting like he is Mark Farner in GFR>

David Gilmour has been slaggin' on the Rolling Stones for years. He always claims he's a fan of their early work but often rips on The Stones. ....I've had a few beers and have decided to write a play called The history of Pink Floyd featuring Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Mrspeedgene. Roger Waters: I quit Pink Floyd David Gilmour: I don't quit Pink Floyd David Gilmour: Roger would you like to come back Roger Waters: F*CK you David Gilmour: Roger you like to come back to Pink Floyd Roger Waters: F*CK you David Gilmour Roger would you like to come back to Pink Floyd Roger Waters: F*CK you that's my flying pig. David Gilmour: Would you like to come back to Pink Floyd Roger Waters: F*CK you your band is a joke. David Gilmour: Hey Roger lets get Pink Floyd back together Roger Waters: F*CK you David Gilmour: I'm going to raise my kids, not worry about Pink Floyd anymore, make a solo album and do a small tour. Roger Waters: Hey David lets get the Floyd back together David Gilmour: I'm busy and I don't like The Rollling Stones. Mrspeedgene: David Gilmour is a stubborn little bitch. The End That is pretty funny. I would believe Dave "wanted time off" if he didn't do a solo album(which sounds like PF IMO), and a mini-tour. Dave can do whatever he wants, he opened the debate up with his remarks. PF can never do another thing and I could care less....but don't try and make it seem like you "know when to retire" and others don't. Raise your kids...don't try and "legitimize" it and try and look cool because "you know when to quit". What that really means is his partner is bitching at him to stay home. He's trying to keep the macho image up by using the "old rockers suck" excuse. Well Ol' dave has been an old rocker for a long time

Old Dave is pissed because he can't hack the road anymore and the older STONES can.
Look I love Dave Gilmour as a player. I can say there is no better guitar player. Many equal but none better.
How can Gilmour be too old to do a FLOYD Tour? All they F*CKin' do is STAND THERE!? They don't have a physical show. Maybe he had a stroke and can't make good guitar faces anymore.
As far as Dave's reasons for not getting back with FLOYD....well that is HIS business and HIS band.
The STONES are none of his business......so if Mick wants to come out onstage in a tutu with a dildo up his ass......well it is HIS band.
He's trying to make up excuses for not doing PF. He really has none. Does he have reason to be bitter at RW? Sure.....but the door swings both ways. Bury the hatchet and do it one more time Dave. Maybe he doesn't want to give up all the spotlight he has filled since the departure of RW.
I can guarantee you that if Mick said "FLOYD should get together....Dave's just being a stubborn little bitch" Dave would have issues.

I love Dave Gilmour as a player but he has turned out to be a friggin' TOOL.
If I was Mick or Keith I would tell these guys to F***OFFF!
I hope the STONES continue to play after they are in wheelchairs and oxygen. As long as they love doing it.
They will have to carry me kicking and screaming off the stage before I quit and I am 43.
Just because Gilmour is an OLD GOAT who wants to plant a garden he thinks everyone else should do what HE THINKS is right.
Over the years everybody thought WATERS was the problem with getting FLOYD back together. Now that the REST of the band says "lets do it" Gilmour blows it off. He has dissappointed me. maybe WATERS wasn't the ONLY EGO PROBLEM in Floyd???
