I just wanted to take a second or two to wish all of the great folks on this forum a very Merry Christmas and an even Happier New Year. For some, it's been tough and I hope nothing but the best for all of the great people here that take the time to come in and spend a few moments to share their thoughts on all things music and on a personal level as well...regardless of the topic. It's great to see that this site remains a constant to those of us that have elected to keep up with and contribute to such a great and informative site. I think it's been close to 10 years now since we left the old "Jeb" forum, and for the life of me, I don't know where the time has went? I can say this, a lot of stuff has happened over the years to each and every one of us, but for some reason, we managed to stay in touch...I think I know the answer to that.... To me, that says a lot about this place...and says even more about the great people that have elected to stay with it. All the best to you and yours....from me and mine... You guys are still the best!!!...and I hope that you will never forget that. Here's looking forward to another great year with you folks on Riks fantastic forum!!! Thanks and all the best... Kim

Thanks Snakes... Sadly, NO, I don't "Get it"......and is why I thought I'd ask you for your thoughts on the matter. I was half expecting at least some form of an informative diatribe on your behalf. The best I can take from your response is that "there is no hope". Okay, works for me...every man, woman and child for themselves, no dialogue needed. It's "eat or be eaten". Thanks again Snakes for the response... (No offense of course)... Thanks Kim

Right on Spacel0rd! Looks like quite a deal and a helluva lot of fun. Centipede was always my favourite game to play. That and the original "Pong"...haha
If you don't mind me asking, what did something like that set you back?
Enjoy!
Thanks Kim

Shit Jesse...I wouldn't know where to start?...hahaha. Top 16 is pretty limiting in scope but I guess I can take a few minutes to chisel it down a bit? Not sure what criteria I could use to compile such a list, but I will attempt a try in another post for ya buddy! Thanks Kim

Right back at cha to all of you great people! Although we celebrated our Thanksgiving here in Canuckville back in October, (The weather up here dictates that we have to do that for some reason???)...I'd still like to take a minute to wish you guys all the best. It truly is the music that brings us all together and borders know No bounds when it comes to online friendships that we have developed over the years through this great site. Although some days may seem slow here, the thoughts of the people that I have come to know over the last many years are still in my mind and in my heart at times like this. You guys are the best! Thanks Kim

wHATEVER: I can only mention an (in)famous quote: "EITHER YOU'RE THE PROBLEM OR YOU'RE THE SOLUTION" (MC5).......and the only solution nowadays is ANTI-POLITICS:) !!!! It's your probs if you don't get it:) !!!!! Hi Snakes, I guess it is my problem, and may be the problem of some others here in regards to the "solution". I must admit, I don't "get it"? It would be great if you could elaborate on that statement just a bit more, in the hopes that I can better understand what it is that I'm not getting. No offense, and pardon my obtuse comment, just looking to see if there is something that I have been overlooking or have not been privy to in the vast number of methods that have been and continue to be employed when it comes to being in charge of a country. Don't get me wrong, I too, am not happy with my current governing power, but when I look at those on the world stage, and see just what goes on in this global community that we call home, I sometimes think to myself that I'm really being somewhat nitpicky when it comes to the life that I am living, and the life that I have lived in the country that I was born and raised in. Overall, I'd have to say, that I won the lottery living here in North America. Can it be better? SURE!...Can it get worse? SURE! I can't for the life of me imagine being born into a country such as Iran...Iraq, North Korea, China, or pretty much any of the African countries?...and that's just for starters. I just wonder sometimes that we simply want more and more from a situation that cannot afford to give anymore, without having to give something up in terms of the perfect lifestyle? We are all going through some pretty wicked changes these days right around the globe and we here in North America are not immune to those changes. Our lives are being affected in ways that we never thought possible 20 years ago...and on history's timeline, 20 years is not even considered a heartbeat. I understand perfectly what Jesse is saying and I for one have nothing but the utmost respect for his statements. The man is a realist and wants a better situation and at this point, it didn't work out the way he wanted it to. He has the right to state his feelings on this very important decision that the American elecorate decided to go with. That's politics. It's called a democracy. Was Obama the right choice? Who knows? When Lincoln got in, was it the right choice? When FDR got in, was it the right choice? When Kennedy got in, was it the right choice?... When Reagan got in,......................................? ...and I'm not dropping these names as a poll to see who was better. My point is, it's all a crap shoot...but to deny ourselves of having a say in the matter leaves us knocking at the doors of a Dictatorship, or worse, a fragile, war torn country made up of various factions and regimes that care little for nobody but the elite group, and their belief systems that they are in chatge of on any given day. Yeah, it's pretty bad out there...but I'll take this over having some Somali insurgent come busting into my house to rape and kill my family just for shits and giggles, only to get away with it all in the name of the cause...whatever that may be...and who knows...maybe the "Cause" is to be able to continue to rape and kill at will??? Sorry to go off on a tangent there on ya Snakes...but if there is a better way, by all means, I sure would like to know. That said, I, along with some others would like to hear your thoughts on the matter and if I could be so bold as to ask, is it possible to conduct a decent conversation without name calling and flame throwing...it certainly would lend further credit to this post that Jesse was so kind to start in the first place. Who knows?...maybe we, the people can come up some constructive solutions to the worlds problems...because to quote another popular phrase..."The Longest Journey Starts With But A Single Step". Thanks Kim

It's been advertised as a return to their 70's roots....but I took that with a grain of salt because every Aerosmith album of the last 15 years has been advertised that way. I take it I'm not missing anything. I often think they need to get back on drugs to write good music again. IMO no, youre not missing a thing. Sadly Frank, I've mentioned the same thing in the past and I have to agree with you. Thanks Kim

Debates are over, storms have come and gone, nothing left but the devastation and now it's down to the wire...a race to the finish line.
Should be interesting.
Any bets on a given horse?

Rush, good to see you back once again. It's been a long time buddy. I hope all is well with you and Maggie. Very interesting post here. First of all however, I must be getting dim in my old age as of late but I'm trying to find the connection betwixt the 4 lines from your 2004 post here? Could you point it out? I understand what you are saying though...I just didn't see the connection?...sorry buddy... Anyway, that said, there are a couple of ways to look at this. One is to take some credit in the fact that a published author felt your words worthy to use it in their publication, unfortunately at the expense of your wisdom and personal take on the situation elaborated upon. The one thing that we all have to remember these days is that even before the world wide web came into play, words, pictures and music were up for grabs and fair game if they weren't copyrighted. Should someone get caught back then, it was still dealt with, but we, the general public heard very little of this coming into play. Hell, even before the net took over our lives, I recall hearing something about the fact that "Happy Birthday" could not be played in public unless those 2 old gals that wrote the ditty were given royalties after the fact??? These days, with people blogging this that and everything from Cat Food to Music, I'm thinking the playing field has been blown wide open. Again, in the old days, a university grad getting caught trying to sell a previously penned thesis would be turfed outta their frat house in a heart beat. Now, you can find some 2nd rate, alcoholic reclusive bard wannabe with rudimentary keyboard skills to pump one out for beer money for you while you continue on partying yer ass off until the day you get to throw your square hat into the air. Can you blame them? It's just too damn easy these days to so and make a fortune in the process and worry about the legal repercussions later on down the road. However, I get your drift and I too find it not only strange, but shows you just how small the global village really is when you see your own words being used by others. What's the chances huh? The author most likely never gave it a second thought, however you picked up on it. Interesting also that you made contact with the author, only to be shrugged off... That to me smacks of disrespect. The author could have at least explained and offered up a free, autographed copy of said tome and graciously had it delivered to you free of charge once confronted... Funny thing is, your handle was quite evident and perhaps the author felt his ass was covered by changing the numbers ever so slightly?...WRONG!!! hahaha. Even I would have picked up on that one! I have one that I may have mentioned here as well regarding a blatant rip off of one of Mellancamps tunes and if exposed, I'm sure would lead to a law suit to some degree, but I digress. Best thing I can suggest Rush, contact the author once again and mention that you are flattered that he was able to use your thoughts and words in his book, without your permission and that you'll settle for a signed copy of the book and all will be cool. Mention that Valachi & Sons Barristors and Solicitors will be more than accepting of his decision should he wisely elect to do the right thing... ;D I'm sure that he'll concede.... Thanks Kim

Im' thinking that it will all hinge on the next debate.
Romney knows that he has Obama on the ropes at this point. So does the rest of the nation...and that's what they want. They want a "Leader", regardless of their policy. There are also a lot of people that simply want Obama "Gone", for reasons that we won't get into.
Mitt smells blood and he will go for it. His 2nd crack at it proves that he is hungry enough to win.
After the first debate, he WON, and now has nothing to lose. Watch the outcome. It will amaze us all.
I will be highly surprised if Mitt Romney is not the next President of The United States of America.
Hey!...gotta hand it to him...he sure would look "GOOD" on the world stage!!! Seriously, the man is typical of what anyone would think the President of the United States should look like...really....!!! look at him!!! Comic Book, movie perfect classic looks!!! This guy could wage war on the Soviets and still come across as believable!!!! Fuck me...the man has my vote and I'm a "stoopid Canadian".
By the way Equinox...you have great taste in programing...I too, am pretty cool with big bird and PBS as well... ;-)
Thanks Kim

Hey Jesse, Yeah, I care...that's why I watched the debate. Crazy huh?...silly ole fuck of a Canadian watching a US presidential debate? You'd think I'd have something better to do "EH"? hahahahaha. Seriously...I do care. You guys are our brothers. Our neighbours. We just differ in laws and taxes...but overall, our expression of freedom and way of life is the same. My good gawd...has it been 4 years? 4 years since I went off about how great the big O was? Ha...all I can say is, the crow I'm eating now sure would be better with some gravy to flush it down with a lot faster!!!.... ;D Sadly, the state of affairs that dictate the personal well being of the voting electorate have not become much better for them now has it? The other sad thing is, that it wasn't Obama's fault. The shit hit the fan under somebody else's watch and we have yet to recover from it...even after 4 years, that's how bad it is. But!...I guess Obama didn't make a difference?...and given another 4 years, probably won't do much to turn it around either? Ergo, let Mitt have at er!!! As far as the debate goes, on a debate basis...of course Romney won. Shit!...I was starting to believe the guy and got all warm and fuzzy...haha. I was taken aback to a great degree with Obama's persona, demeanor and overall stance on his delivery in anything that came out of his mouth??? He didn't appear to have a slolution at hand or in speech, let alone indicate that HE is the guy at the helm at this point!!!!! ...WTF??? This can cost an incumbent an election in a heartbeat. For what it's worth, the next 2 debates and 1 vice debate should prove to be interesting and I will try to be witness of as it is of course important to us as a "North American". Also, for the "what it's worth" department... We here in good ole Canuckville have a "Majority" Conservative (Republican) party in control and things have gotten worse. They are allowed to bulldoze through anything and everything that they had on the table for the last 15 years and boy howdy...are they going at er!!!......at the expense of our lives and livelihoods. Jobs are down. Benefits are decreased, Cost of living is up,...and here's the kicker...my all time favourite... TAXES HAVE GONE UP!!!.....WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! By the way, don't eat our beef because it's contaminated and we no longer have inspectors to ensure it's safety because our government doesn't care anymore and laid off a good number of our inspectors...which of course leads to the "private sector" thought process of..."fuck it!...we do things the way we want and save a buck at the end of the day"...all for profit at the expense of the consuming public." Eliminating jobs at the expense of killing consumers is not a wise decision in terms of maintaining a healthly taxbase in my opinion. Anyhoo...I for one am looking forward to the next debate. I thought Romney came across quite well and if I were an American, at this point, as a swing voter, he just might get my vote if he could just ensure that my "MIDDLE CLASS" family would continue to prosper should I hand over my vote. The guy appears to have what it takes and hopefully he would consider in kind, those that have less and vote for him and his policies. One last stab, but to me, Romney is a much better solution than that "Dubya" character and if we wanted a "clown", we would have voted to have a circus come to town. Thanks Kim

Hey Frank, Good point, I agree. However, this site does not seem to be as user friendly as it used to be for regular members. As an example, I've always tried to keep myself "logged in" so that I don't have to go through the sign in procedure. From time to time however, for some reason?, I get booted out only to try and come back in, using the same user name and password, only to be rejected. This has been happening more often than I care to see and I'm thinking that Pro Boards is to blame for this. That said, I'm thinking that a lot of regular members are simply checking in and not taking the time to try and get past that issue, only to read the posts and move on. Trust me, I've done it myself and is partial to the reason why I don't post here as much anymore. It took me 20 minutes to get in here today and I still can't understand why it took so long? In regards to the newbies however, I also agree...FOR SURE...Sign Up...because with more members here, perhaps we can avoid this happening to any of us. Most importantly Frank, I sure hope that you are feeling much better and that the stroke hasn't hindered you to any degree. It sure is great seeing you back here with us where you belong and I trust that you'll be doing that much better each and every day... Hey?...maybe you, Pete, Jesse and the rest of us should go on a "post"raiser type campaign here and bolster the numbers a bit? Thanks Kim

I know I know, they did things that no one else had ever done before them when it came to rock music. But if you compare them to the bands that came after them, are they the most talented band that ever lived? Geezus...NO! Sorry once again for the long winded response. Thanks Kim That being said, I've yet to witness a band that has come as close to being the best, so yeah, yeah yeah...in my opinion, maybe they are. Any takers willing to challenge? Once again, Sorry for the long winded response. Thanks Kim

Excellent thread Jesse!...Excellent! I wouldn't know where to start and if I did, it would end up in on helluva long winded rant which I'm sure nobody here wants to be a part of. That said... ...If you consider the newbies coming into the freshman year of their post secondary learning years today, we have to try and put ourselves into their collective shoes and for starters, think back on the day when it was our turn, in order to keep it all in perspective. I think that there are some differences, and I can't exactly put my finger on what those differences might be and as mentioned, I surely won't bore you with my comments. Interesting thought to ponder though...good stuff Jesse! Thanks Kim
