Anyone heard the new Aerosmith album yet, Music From Another Dimension? I have to say I was very dissapointed with it. And I had high hopes for the album too with their classic 70's era producer Jack Douglas on board. I liked two songs and that was it. And they should be shot for trying to reach the American Idol crowd with their duet with Carrie Underwood. 2012 was a good year for new music, I guess Aerosmith didn't wanna join the party. I also watched a live webcast of them playing live on a flatbed trailer in front of their old apartment yesterday. Live they still kick ass but they've lost it in the song writing department.

I didn't know it was out now.
I'm listening to tracks on youtube. Nothing really great. Out Go the Lights and Jesus Street sounded ok.

It's been advertised as a return to their 70's roots....but I took that with a grain of salt because every Aerosmith album of the last 15 years has been advertised that way. I take it I'm not missing anything.

I listened to an Aerosmith "Town Hall" on Sirius and the songs they played were not bad.
I'll have to give it much more of a listen when I get the cd

The last solid album they came out with was Honkin on a Bobo.
PUMP was the last great album of originals that they have released.

I just picked this up. After hearing the two tunes they released early, I really thought this was gonna be a good album. Boy was I wrong, this one's a DUD in my opinion.

I didn't care the new album. I think what's killing Aerosmith for me is Steven Tyler's vocals or should I say ego. It almost feels like they should be titled Steven Tyler w/ Aerosmith. I thought his vocals killed the Honkin' on the Bobo album which I was psyched for that album(knowing about their blues roots in the 70's on such tunes as Tiny Bradshaw's Big 10 Inch Record, Reefer Headed Woman, I Ain't Got You ...etc I figured Honkin' would have been an easy home run). Sorry but if you want to hear a rock artist cover the blues throw on some Johnny Winter, Pat Travers, Gary Moore, Stevie Ray, or Eric Clapton where the music is what it's about. If any band would be able to pull off a Blues album I really would have thought Aerosmith could but I thought it fell short. I thought Pump was as Jesse said...Decent

I keep giving this album a try.... still the same result, dissapointment. This album is definatly not a return to their 70s rock roots. Steven Tyler is trying to hard to sound like he belongs on top 40 radio.

Actually, there are more than a few AOR and FM radio-oriented tunes on Pump as well) !!!!!!!

I think you are all being a little hard on it. At least it is MILES ahead of anything they have done since 'Pump'. I mean seriously does anyone REALLY think they are going to ever write another album as good as 'Rocks'? Of course not. 'Street Jesus' is ine of the best songs they have done since 1985.

I can't believe this thread was brought back up. This album for me died a quick death. The record buying public felt the same way
