I had a bad feeling about this CD going into it, but I bought it anyways. I loved Sonic Boom, and I was hoping for more of the same. I think the BAND thinks it's "more of the same"...but to me it's a poor man's Sonic Boom. The songs are pretty boring, the production is a little "flat" and some of the lyrics are BEYOND predictable. The first time hearing it, I could tell what a lot of lines were before they sang it. Maybe it's me. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for a new Kiss CD. I dunno. Lemme know what ya all think of it.

I'm a Kiss fan so take this for what it's worth but I love the album & if anything I feel it's much heavier than Sonic Boom. I'm not sure if I do like it better than Sonic Boom (right now I may say yes but I'll have to give it more time). I will also say the production may lack a little & the lyrics on a few tunes may even be a bit dumb but overall I feel the album rocks out. Like Sonic Boom I feel like the songs do stand out & by the third listen I feel like I know them all pretty good. I hear so many influences throughout the album as they really stand out. I hear shades of Humble Pie's 30 Days in the Hole & I Don't need no Doctor on a couple of songs, one song has rhythm of old AC/DC, I hear a definite MC5 influence on one track, I hear Zeppelin, the Who,the Yardbirds, & even one song has the thumping rhythm of Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath. This could end up being my favorite Kiss album since 1982's Creatures of the Night.

I can't stop listening to it either Tommy does tear it up & I really feel he stepped away from the Ace shadows & into his own. In my earlier post as much as I said how I love the album & how it rocks out I also tried being objective as to hear what Spacelord & others might hear (after all me being a Kiss freak they can do no wrong). Anyway, those first few listens to the album I thought that "Back to the Stone Age" was such a great song but the lyrics were pretty dumb ( which they still may be) but the more I keep listening the more those lyrics don't bother me. I don't know how long it will be up but if you go to CBS.com Kiss performed a 10 song concert before their David Lettermen appearance that I thought was great ( they didn't even play R&R All Nite instead they closed with Deuce!)

I'll give a few more spins. And this weekend I'll give it the "listen to while drinking" test.

Watched Kiss on Letterman and I was very pleased that they didnt play Rock & Roll All Nite. Did you see em on Good Morning America? They were good on there also.

Been reading a lot of people on the net complaining that they don't like the first single Hell Or Hallelujah. WTF? I don't get their bitching. That song kicks major ass & is the start of the album & is the basis of the whole album never letting up. I love that. As far as some of the lyrics go, Ill be the first to admit their kinda dorky. But that's Kiss for you. They don't write thought provoking lyrics, never have, never will. And I'm OK with that. Do the songs kick ass with out thought provoking lyrics? HELL YES! And that's what counts.

I agree with you on everything Frank

I LOVE this album!!! It rocks from front to back, top to bottom. It feels like Kiss has come full circle after nearly 40 years

I personally think the album is not very good compared to their classic stuff. These new albums are the bad B-sides they recorded way back when.

Two weeks later and it's STILL in my CD player!! Can't stop listening to it. Yeah Hell or Hallelujah is a great song but I think the true greatness comes from the deeper cuts. Shout Mercy, Eat Your Heart Out, and Take Me Down Below are some of my favorites on the album. Long Way Down should be the next single. I know I'm tainted from being a KISS fan for 35 years but this CD kicks some serious a**!!

It really takes me back to 70's Kiss in that within a week I got to know every tune front to back. The sticker on the front said no ballads or fillers & they weren't kidding

It's better than the new Aerosmith album, I'll say that. You can take that for what it's worth.
