What are you least favorite albums from you favorite band?
These are just based on my own personal opinions & taste when it comes to what I adore most about Sabbath as a fan & inspired musician.
Never Say Die:
Don't get me wrong it has its moments. But for me as a whole body of work it has more misses then hits. To my ears it sounded like a watered down version of Sabbath that tried to hard to be radio friendly. I think by that time that album was the nail in the coffin for that Sabbath era.
Seventh Star:
I think for the work as a whole it should have remained Iommi's own solo album. Besides Iommi being on it that line up was far from even remotely resemble the spirit of Sabbath. Even though I do like Tony Martin Sabbath era & do like the next three releases The Eternal Idol,Headless Cross & TYR. Like with Seventh Star they were missing for me one main element of the Sabbath sound which was Geezer's sonically complimenting base lines. Even when Ward is out of the mix when you just have the Iommi & Geezer formula the spirit of Sabbath is still present enough for the sound of Sabbath to shine through!!

My feeling is it must suck when a band just because a parody of their past. I love when bands shake up their set list with random rare songs that hardly ever make it past album form or new song that haven't even been recorded yet.
As much as I've loved seeing Sabbath over the years I wish they would break up the standard hits with some less known songs that you just as good. That is kind of why I get bored when Ozzy is back in the mix. Yes as a diehard fan it was cool getting to see the original line up the for the first time. But the next time I seen them after that the novelty wore off & I found myself thinking about how repetitive my experience was & feeling sad because my favorite band sounded like a parody act.

This is a instrumental band from Germany I have been digging for the last few years. When describing their sound progressive jazz fusion with some metal elements & odd time signatures come to mind. Fans of Steve Vai,Dream Theater/Liquid Tension Experiment,Joe Satriani & later Cynic might like this band.

I am a big fan of Doug Aldrich's work. Dude is a shredder who knows when to let his notes breath. That is pretty rare with people who play that good. My Lust Your Fate is my favorite track off of the album.

I just read were Sabbath is gonna concentrate on early material during their upcoming tour. What? So that Ozzy can bend over the telestrator and still not no the lyrics?? I have ZERO respect for him anymore. What a joke. I couldn't agree more!!

If the question was Ronnie James Dio era Sabbath vs Zeppelin.... Id take the RJD Sabbath anyday ;D The RJD era Sabbath is where I started & then I worked my way back to the Ozzy era. I love both era's for different reasons.

1000% Agreed Warm analog sound...... heaven... ;D Yeah that is what I love about the sound of analog it is warmer & the highs aren't as hallow. That is why when I record my own material I use my 8track reel to reel.

I am as diehard as it gets when it comes to Sabbath. But I am disappointed it isn't the original line up. In my opinion Iommi's riffs sound so much better with a Geezer & Ward rhythm section complimenting him. That said I do dig what I am hearing.
BTW Appice is a badass drummer in his own right.
