What bands seemed like they should've been better than they actually were? Like, on paper, they should have been phenomenal, but in actuality, they were simply "meh", okay at best or actually horrible?
For me: The Firm. Jimmy Page + Paul Rodgers should've been the supergroup of the century. They didn't suck, but those albums paled in comparison to Zeppelin and Bad Company, like not even close.
Rossington Collins Band. This is the band that made me think of this topic. Basically Lynyrd Skynyrd with a female singer. A REALLY GOOD female singer! And a REALLY GREAT lead single in "Don't Misunderstand Me". I dunno, rest of their output just felt flat in comparison to what they should have sounded like in my mind.
Vanderhoof. Two guys from Metal Church making retro-Rock music. Good cover of Deep Purple's "Burn" and two or three other decent songs. The rest kinda sucked.
The Bama Band. Hank Williams Jr's high-energy, rockin' backing band making their own music! And it's overly slick, over-produced Nashville Country music. Couple of rockers, but mostly not.
I know there's more, but I'm drawing a blank right now. Somebody help me! LOL!

They are one of those bands who I don't think I know that many songs from, but, scrolling through iTunes just listening to the song samples........ apparently, I know a ton of their songs. I don't know how I know so many, maybe through osmosis or something. Fine band, now the only question is: Do I start downloading, or just buy up the damn CDs?

........Maybe Didn't Know Were Covered"
I grew up in a "Country Music Bubble", I listened, nearly exclusively, to Country music and didn't know ANY of these songs were covers, let alone covers of BIG Classic Rock hits! Maybe you didn't know these songs were covered by these artists, but these were ALL my first exposure to these tunes. Get ready for a laugh.

Skynyrd would probably have a decent connection with a Football Crowd…Cheap Trick might go over pretty good All of the artists we named would've been better than that. Ted, Skynyrd, Foreigner, Paisley, Cheap Trick,

I had seen parts of it before, but last night I watched the whole thing start to finish. Is it me? I hate to single out "White House Down" because there are a ton of movies that are probably worse, but..... just so stupid! Yes, I do realize that one HAS TO suspend reality in order to enjoy almost any movie, but, geez! Early on, the terrorist team takes over the White House with a "one shot, one kill" ratio, knocking out ALL security guards, Capitol Police, military, secret service, etc who get in their way. Then, once the protagonist gets involved, these same "sharp shooters" are blowing through thousands of rounds per minute without so much as nicking the protagonist(s). All of these action movies anymore are like they are written and directed by a 6-year-old with ADD . The shame is: "White House Down" (along with a LOT of recent movies) COULD be great! Make the scenes just a smidge more believable and it might be a movie I could watch over and over again. As it is, once was too many.

This is the band that people keep telling me that I should be listening to instead of Greta Van Fleet. I dunno. They don't suck, but I just can't get into them. Couple songs make for an enjoyable few minutes, but nothing I'm willing to spend money on. Sorry, for all their faults, I like Greta Van Fleet better

Yeah, man! He'd be great! It'll NEVER happen, but it SHOULD! I was thinking about my answer and, I dunno. Anyone who would go over well is way past their prime and newcomers like, say, Blackberry Smoke, just don't bring the energy to a live performance for it to work IMO. That said, original or not, Foreigner would be great! Brad Paisley puts on a great show and is still in his relative prime.

Mr. Big

Any fans? I saw them in concert last night! I have to beg forgiveness as I dismissed them for a good 30 years because of dopey hit "To Be With You". I remember hearing friends tell me that they were so much better than that song, but I never bought any of their music until a bandmate suggested we cover "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind". I bought the download from iTunes and loved it, but never got around to getting any more from them. Apparently at a jam back in September, someone said something about Mr. Big coming around. My drummer said something to me in late December about going to see them and I kinda blew him off. Two weeks ago our mutual friend from the September jam texted saying he's got tickets for Mr. Big wanting to know where and when to meet up to go to the show....... so, I guess I'm going LOL! FANTASTIC show! Those guys are insanely great musicians! Total virtuosos! I guess they got lumped in with the "Hair Metal" label, but that is so unfair, they were SO above that label! Total pros onstage! Eric Martin sounded great! Pretty sure all the songs were in the original key and if he sang higher back in the day, it couldn't have been much higher. That said, he did lose his voice about 2/3 into the show. Kept singing, but struggled to hit the highs (still did though), bowed out of any chorus or song part with backing vocals and tossed the baton to bassist Billy Sheenan to sing verses here and there to get through the rest of the night. But, yeah, overall, outstanding show! "To Be With You" was actually the low point of the set IMO (though my friend's wife and daughter would likely disagree). I'm gonna have to get on Amazon and order a bunch of Mr. Big CDs now! Unfortunately, i am truly late to the party as it was their "Final Tour", but who knows? Lotta bands been saying that, then keep going!

I have no idea who's playing the halftime show this year, but I'm pretty sure it's someone or some band I don't like and it'll suck. What artist or artists SHOULD do the halftime show?

Christ Stapleton took "Country Performance Of The Year" with a song that "Rocks" a lot harder than these retarded kids do. Don't particularly love Stapleton neither, but at least he's a got a pretty rippin' guitar solo on this tune.

According to the Grammy's, this was the best Rock performance of 2023. I think they had more credibility when they declared Jethro Tull best Metal performance of 1989. I dunno, I don't exactly HATE the song, but.....really? If THAT was the best, then I guess there is ZERO reason for me to listen to any Top 40 or Mainstream Rock radio, cuz it's just not that good. If simply being able to listen to the entire song without giving in to a desire to shove an ice pick into your ear is all it takes to qualify as the "best", we're in bad shape folks. Grammy? Really? This is a joke,I like Jethro Tull but they are not and never be Metal No joke! They also took "Rock Song Of The Year" and "Alternative Album Of The Year". I mean, I've heard worse, but GEEZ!

1) Molly Hatchet 2) Charlie Daniels Band 3) Blackfoot 4) Deep Purple 5) Helloween
I dunno, my "Favorite Bands" are always fluctuating, I tried to go with 5 bands that I probably have listened to the longest yet never really burned myself out on.
