In my opinion of course, and also from the limited number of CDs I've bought the last few years. Been burning compilation CDs of my favorite tracks from newer albums the last few years. Decided to make up a spotify playlist of the tunes that I felt held up best after repeated listens. I kept the list at 30, but there's quite a few very good runners up. I went a little Country in some spots and a little Metal in other choices, but most of these, I think, would hold up well if put into sporadic rotation on Classic Rock stations. I dunno, we all have our own tastes and personal preferences, but take a look, take a listen. I don't think anyone will like all 30 songs, but I feel I did a good job of putting something for everyone on here.

Very good album! Reminds me of Queen, Yes, Kansas, Emerson Lake & Palmer.......... pretty much every '70's Progressive Rock act........ except Styx spot on Jesse, not quite Styx, Pieces of Eight is probably the best album as far as I concerned Surprisingly, considering Styx is one of my favorite bands, I actually have very few of their studio albums. "Pieces Of Eight" is not one of them. Someday I should look into completing my studio album collection of Styx.

Getting some serious Heart-vibes from these two. Unfortunately, I've searched their catalog and this is really the only song they have that interests me. They are great to look at though....... well, not the drummer so much

Unfortunately, it's at or close to the end of the road for many of our beloved Classic Rock bands. Frank Marino And Mahogany Rush is one of the artists that I might not ever heard of if not for Rnruniverse! RIP yeah great shout, I got to know a lot of bands from the members like you here... anyone American Dog or Buckcherry Wine??..is Jamin Jim around? Don't recall Buckcherry Wine, but I remember the name American Dog being thrown around alot here........ never did get around to buying a CD of them though. Last I heard, I think Jamin' Jim fell for some Nigerian Princess scam

just came across this whilst checking the site, I like them, thank for posting Jesse, I will have follow up and find their stuff.. Nice one J 👍 A lot of people really hate Ghost! I don't know why. Sounds like a combination of Judas Priest and Alice Cooper to my ears. I like 'em!

I was actually listening to one of their CDs yesterday! IT was in the batch that I annexed 2 years ago. I never heard of them, but the CD was pretty good! Not sure that I'm interested in seeing them live, but I'll have to explore and see if there were any more of their Cds in this collection and take a listen. The one I heard was "Get Hurt"

These guys remind me so much og The Grateful Dead,I got into The Dead in the late 10 years. Anyone else into either bands? It's weird, I like the Grateful Dead studio stuff, but not particularly their live stuff. I saw Phish live once and thought they were awesome, but never really desired to buy into their catalog.

It's been a LOOOOONG time since this message board was hopping. I guess as folks got older, lives changed, free time gets to be few and far between and they go a few days without checking in...... then a few weeks, a few months, year or so and bam! It's no longer a habit to check in and see what's going on in the music world. With Facebook, a lot of music news would go through there and if anyone thought to post it here, most of us already knew. Between this board and the old Classic Rock Revisited board, the few regulars who were left already knew each others' likes and dislikes of almost every possible music category, band catalogs, etc. There just wasn't much to post anymore. Not sure the year, maybe 2017 or early 2018, someone created a thread so the few regulars who still checked in (even if we didn't post) could post their Facebook names to stay in touch that way. Not sure if everyone "friended" everyone who was left, but I was/am Facebook friends with the likes of Mak, DuoJett, Frank, Pete, Ricky, Warpig, Spacel0rd, Smileygirl, Bucky, Trexx........ I think that might be it. I was in-person friends with Smileygirl and Cousin-it before they became members here. Unfortunately, both of them passed away. Cousin-it's name was Chris. I forget his last name, I only really knew him through Smileygirl. He passed away around 2018 or 19. Smileygirl's real name was Crysty, she passed way in January of 2022. I had actually lost contact with her for years, but reconnected in 2015 through Facebook. Warpig passed away this past February. His real name was Randall. Don't really talk or interact with anyone other than Mak, Frank and Bucky anymore, though every once in a while Ricky or DuoJett will post on Facebook or Trexx randomly "like"s one of my Facebook posts. As for HERE, I randomly stop in and scroll through the archives of threads past and pick certain ones to check out what we were talking about or arguing about and see if my opinions are still the same LOL. I post new threads at random, mostly new music/artists that I've discovered. Once in a while Mak or a new member or guest will respond. I don't know why I still do it. I guess I just have such great memories of this place and the comradery that we had in regards to music. I hate to totally let go and the only chance to get anything like the old days going again is to post shit and see what happens!
Anyways, welcome back Kim! Welcome back any of the other old members! And welcome to any new members or guests! If you like Classic Rock, I've posted a bunch of threads in the music section of NEW bands who I THINK carry on the Classic Rock sound. Check 'em out and tell me if I'm right or if I need to buy a clue LOL!

She's touring the UK in February 2024 so I'll try and see her live I just discovered her a few months ago. If she comes to the US, that would be another show I might go see!

Concerts aren't really my thing anymore. They've gotten too expensive, too predictable, too much of a pain in the ass and crowds tend to bother me more the older I get. That said, I'm going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra next weekend and will probably go see Blackberry Smoke when they come to my area. Might go see Church Of The Cosmic Skull if they do another U.S. tour too.

My favorite "new" Southern Rock band by a longshot! Blackberry Smoke turned out to be everything that I was hoping the Georgia Satellites, Kentucky Headhunters and Black Crowes would be! Love 'em! Saw them twice in concert. My first taste of them was on a DirectTv concert. The guide listed them as a "Southern Rock Band" so i had to check them out. Honestly, through most of their set, I thought they were ok. But when they played the above song, my ears perked up! They followed in up and ended their concert show with "Son Of The Bourbon" and "Freedom Song" and I knew then that I had found my next favorite band!

Well thank you Jesse and thank you Mak! Nice to touch base with you guys again. I'm going to make a conscious effort to try and check in more often. Not sure if I have much in terms of worthy content these days, but I'll give er a whirl. I must admit, My music tastes have changed somewhat, but that's to be expected for a 64 year old fart such as myself these days...haha. I should go back over some of the more recent posts of the last year or so and get an idea where peoples heads are currently. I have to say, a lot has changed in the way we get and enjoy music even in the last 5 to 10 years and I have to say that I've been exposed to a lot of different music in that time. Some good stuff that I thought I'd never lean towards and of course there's some really funky stuff out there...wow! What's with the "death metal" stuff? You guys may have to bring me up to speed on some of what's going on...haha. I'll leave it at that for now and check in again after I figure out how this board works. Nice to see my avatar is intact! I'm beginning to look more and more like that these days, less hair, confused look, drooling. Gotta love getting old eh? hahahaha! Talk to you guys soon. Yup, a lot has changed over the years since this place was hoppin'. Will have to start a new thread, maybe in the lounge and catch everyone up with each other.

Another one that this CD collection I annexed must've had the entire catalog of. I'm not a fan. Not total crap, I've found a few hidden gems in these CDs and I kinda "get" his appeal overall, but, man, several of these Cds are little more than background noise and not particularly pleasant background noise.

Looking forward to you returning with your opinions and observations, Kim! Lately, it's just been me and Mak, though Duojett checks in sometimes as does Ricky. Let's get it going again!
