I just finished a First Aid / CPR course and the one thing that came up was when there is no hope left for the victim...and they "call it". ...Anyone wanna "call it"? For what it's worth, they gave it a shot and had the chance at the "swan song" and perhaps this last kick at the can was it? Good on them for giving it a go. Thanks Kim

Next to Blinded By The Light, "For You" was another Springsteen track that the group did a fine redition of and I see that it's included on the release.

April Wine, BTO, ZZ Top, Queen, Styx, Uriah Heep,Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Edgar Winter Group, Skynyrd, Eagles, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, ELO, Sweet,...pretty much the going rate for the day back in the mid to late 70's. Back then, it was like clockwork...Friday nite dinner was finished by about 6, dishes done and mom and my step dad would be off to their "cottage" for the weekend by 7pm or so. They'd be heading out the front door of the apartment building and the boys would be coming up the back entrance with a "two-four" of beer, which we all chipped in on of course. It was all good. Always maintained our sense of decency...music was never loud and we behaved ourselves...and this from about 4 to 6 guys, 16 to 18 years old. It was a place to kick back and enjoy part of of our weekends during our teen years. On one occasion, my mom came back to get a forgotten item and I figured, "okay, I'm busted"!!! She just greeted my friends whom she knew and loved, said "behave yourselves and "have one for me"...and off she went. When I asked her about it upon their return Sunday nite, she said that she kind of suspected that we had these getogethers over the past year or so, but trusted and believed that my friends and I would be mature enough to ensure that things never got out of hand...and you know what?... they never did. Sometimes, we'd gather on a Saturday nite and watch the hockey game, with the sound off and the tunes on at a decent level so you could still shoot the shit. Believe it or not, it reminds me of "That 70's Show"...haha cuz we did have a girl that hung out with us that enjoyed being with the boys...and she was cute too!!! haha. That was a long time ago and the old gang has long since gone their separate ways. That's the part of my highschool days that I miss the most... To Bernie, Clint, Hal, Rick, Brent, Anthony, Brenda...and of course my mom, for believing in us, here's to you guys... Thanks Kim

Here's a thought... Maybe we could trade "assholes"? You give us Obama and you can have Stephen Harper...haha. Thanks Kim It would only make you want Harper back..... Not so sure about that?... Harper just announced 20,000 Federal job cuts here in Canuckville and 1000 of them are border guards and snifer dog teams as an example. Now there's a boost to our faltering economy!!! ...not to mention helping out on the war on terror, let alone making us sleep easier at night knowing that the bad guys are most likely applauding this move by our elite Conservative government so they can slide into CanaDuh much easier and hop the invisible fence that divides these 2 decent countries and will no doubt widen the ever growing rift between friendship as nations on so many levels. I guess though, that's one way of filling up those big, brand new prisons that Harper wants to build here through his omnibus crime bill that he and his cronies bull-dozed through Parliament as a majority rule garnered through voter apathy and most likely voter "fatigue" after the last few years. No worries though, I'm sure that Mitt will give our "Ken doll" look-alike, a slap upside the head and get him back on track once the thugs start moving drugs and guns through the Canuck border to John Q. Public in Anytown, USA or at the very least, a good swift kick in the nuts, cuz boy howdy, he sure could use one. Thanks Kim

Hey Snakes... No problem mentioning what you have to say... No problem at all... I'm simply putting it out to the other moderators on the board in that maybe we should slide this conversation over to the "Lounge" and seaparate the talk from the usual "musical" topic that goes on here. I didn't mean anything wrong against you by stating my piece here... I just thought it might be appropriate if we moved it to the other site...no harm in that now is there? For what it's worth, you raise a really good point and surely is worth a rebuttal from those of the forum that wish to respond to in kind. Blue Cheer's original post unfortunately didn't define the contributions to be musically intoned...but after seeing it turn as political as it has, I thought maybe it was in our best interest to move the thread...and thought it best to confide in my compatriots here...namely Pete and Jesse. Thanks Kim

Although Bluecheer surely had good intentions when starting this thread, I'm wondering if it's intent has strayed from the original topic? No offense, but maybe we should move this one to the "Lounge" and allow it to carry on in that category? Don't get me wrong...I'm all for the debate about the 80's and what we did or didn't like about that epoch in time, I'm just wondering if we should separate it from the "rock talk" section of the forum as it appears to be going in a political direction. Pete, Jesse...I'll leave it to you guys to decide... Thanks Kim

Well I knew I missed a few, but that's a whole helluva lot Anyways my fave comeback was Perfect Strangers. These polls just don't seem to get the board going like they once did. Actually Warpig, your 3 threads regarding polls racked up some pretty good responses considering the quiet nature of the board these days, so give yourself some much due credit in doing so...keep em coming!... Yeah yeah...I hear your reply now... "Okay but what was your pick for comeback album...?" I can't really say as I have not heard any of them on the list and off the top of my head can't think of one. Just thought I'd pass along some kudos to you for injecting some life into the forum... Thanks Kim

Without a doubt for me, I have to go with Let There Be Rock.
As much as I love "It's a Long Way To Rock and Roll......" from the debut release, LTBR does it for me in its consistency in regards to the tracks included on this release.
For me, when it comes to ACDC, there isn't a clunker on the album. Straight ahead, no filler, kick ass rock from start to finish.
Very few albums do it for me such as this one does.
Thanks Kim

Kim didn't leave...I just took some time to gather my thoughts on the comments that I've made recently and a good friend here was able to help bring it to light. Thanks Jesse. I'm still here Pete and I thank you for thinking of me when mentioning Toto. I was but a young 19 year old fella in college when I first heard this group and it had an impact on me back then. I could tell ya's stories about the times and the way that the music infected me and influenced me...but they just wouldn't seem fitting in this day and age...and I'm good with that as it's only one lonely mans story at this point...besides...we all have them right? For what it's worth Pete, I think that not only myself, but a lot of us here have learned a helluva lot more about music from you and friends like Jesse, than you realize compared to guys like me. You guys know yer shit and it shows. All I can say is thanks for the last many, many years of informing me...I have to say, on a personal level, in terms of music, I consider myself having come a very long way. Thanks guys!!! And you know what?...It's okay to "av a few"...and post some thoughts while doing so because I firmly believe that it sometimes takes a few spirits, to release a few spirits and allow the honesty to come forth..... (There is absolutely Nuthin wrong with that)!!! ;D Thanks Kim OK, But which Brian Johnson era AC/DC Album is your fave? My apologies Warpig...sorry for not following through with the intent of the thread here... I went with Back In Black. The title track speaks volumes to me and I think Bon would have appreciated the nod. Great post by the way Warpig...thanks for bringing that forth. I for one sure do miss your input here and sure look forward to further contributions as I have always found your threads interesting and worthy of responses in return. Hope all is well with you and yours Warpig! Thanks Kim

I had to pick Back In Black but I really like Razor's Edge. I'm gonna go into true confessions mode here. In high school I used to be a pop fan. I liked all the pop stuff. Duran Duran, Micheal Jackson, Power Station, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Animotion, Human League etc... AC/DC and Def Leppard got me hooked on rock. At first it was Lep. I was a huge fan of Pryomania and everything that followed. Than Razor's Edge came out and I got into AC/DC. I started looking into earlier back catalogs of AC/DC and Def Leppard and that also brought me to the likes of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd etc. So I have a very soft spot for Razor's Edge but BIB is my favorite now. I've been drinking tonight and I'm listening to Toto. Kim would probably like that. I think he left. I came to CRR many years ago and learned about real music. Awesmome music. From Spacelo0rd, Jessie, Frank, Jammin Jim, Kim, Picklehead, Sandi, Equinox, Rush862, Mrspeedgene, Trexx, Warpig, Dreamtide, Scott, Hifi Chick, Mr Ace, hojam, Dreamtide, Rocknut, FunkyCanuck, Axisboldaslove, Nightwatcher, and all you other crazy fucks. Even Jeb and pooldude. You newer dudes like Snakes and Cozy rock too. Oh hell sorry Rick fellow Pink Floyd dude you too. lol I thought I knew music and you guys opened my eyes to a lot of cool shit. This forum is slowing but I still come here to maybe learn something new or post shit i'm interested in. You fuckers rock... oh yeah I umm Back IN Blcack. Kim didn't leave...I just took some time to gather my thoughts on the comments that I've made recently and a good friend here was able to help bring it to light. Thanks Jesse. Good point and I agree with you Jesse. Thanks for bringing up that past post of mine that I was quite passionate about...sorry for that. I was wrong there as well and I apologize for that one. You got me there my friend and I'll admit that you are correct in all that you have indicated. My apologies to all here that I may have offended recently and in the past...I realize that I don't know a heck of a lot about music (other than what I like I guess)....haha...and once again...as the credo that I have stood by many years ago with the Jeb forum...""I know shit from pudding" Thanks all for putting up with my thoughts since 2001 though. I guess the best I can say is that I trust that our collective musical tastes will somehow come to some common ground and regardless of what we hear, say and do...we'll still have something in common. Once again, I do apologize for my comments over the years...no harm or foul intended. Have a great life all you great folks. Take care all. Thanks Kim

You almost had me, then you lost me Kim. Nirvana over Guns N Roses? That's just plain stupid. Kurt Cobain, hands-down is the worst guitar player to ever write "Rock Star" on his income tax forms for "occupation". I know you don't like GNR, but please, Nirvana? Don't insult my musical intellect by acting as if THEY of all bands had more to offer than Guns' n Roses. And, 2 hits? Seriously, I don't know what planet you are from, but how's the weather there? Guns' N Roses had no less than 17 songs hit the Mainstream Rock top 40 charts between 1988 and 1994, 11 of which also hit the Pop charts. Well short of the Beatles for sure, but certainly much more than a two-hit wonder. I DON'T think they belong in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, but your denunciations of them make you look foolish......every bit as foolish as someone who would downplay the Beatles successes. Jesse...I figured you to be the first, and most likely not the last to respond to this one...but this one kind of hit home. Really..."stupid"...awww c'mon Jesse, I thought I was a tad bit higher up in your cerebral cortex to be pigeonholed into a corner of such tight confines???...haha... I do, as you know, call Earth the same home as you do ...alas, my somewhat slanted, personal, yet unique opinion regarding the observation of said group in question, is one that has struck a chord with you, and not one in a favourable fashion? Regrets for me in offering that up. So, if I get this right, Mr. Rose et all, was, and is, the end all to the last best vestige that we had regarding rock and roll as we know it to this day?...and groups such as Nirvana were pretty much a flash in the pan....okay, "cool" as we used to say... Well so be it...I was wrong...it was just an opinion from one who really isn't a fan of either group to any great degree. I'll admit, Mr. Cobain was not the musical virtuoso that his still living and ever so successfull musical rival is today. Why is it that we hear nothing from that camp? Chinese Democracy...now there's an oxymoron to be interpreted in more ways than one now isn't it? By the way Jesse, I sure as shit didn't mean to insult your "musical intellect" in any way shape or form. My humble and sincere apologies go out to you if I did. My comments were simply based on what I feel towards the group that was mentioned, and it appears to me that I made a grievous error in not only commenting on them, but comparing them to another group that I know absolutely fuck all about...my mistake for sure. I guess it all boils down to personal preferance and for some reason I tended to side with Curt and Co. because I have heard some of their earlier music and I kind of liked it...and in all fairness, I can't really say the same thing about Guns. Again, that's just my opinion...so please disregard it okay? Call me "stupid" all you want...but I will say this....... You can state that GNR had no less than 17 hits...and I will come back to you and tell you, that I have only heard 2 of them. Again, my loss...and my ignorance in not having the ability to catch them on the usual and typical FM Radio that should be playing those 17 hits on a regular basis...I guess us Canadians just don't get the opportunity to hear the same rotation of FM squabble that you guys get? Maybe I am from a different planet, but I'll tell you this... the planet I come from has a shitload of Beatles songs and its not only me that's heard them. Maybe I'm old. Maybe I just need something to use as a benchmark when it comes to good old fashioned music...and maybe I just used this one silly old post from Pete to relate to. On another note...hey...thanks for considering me as foolish... I'd like to reciprocate, but to be quite honest with you Jesse...I have too much respect for you to respond in the same manner. I respect you as a person, as a friend, and as much, a lover of great music, so don't ever, EVER, expect me to come out with both "barrels a blazing" against you. Sorry for saying my piece in the previous post...it was just an opinion and one that I regret... As the years go by, I find myself less in tune with what it's all about out there these days...even to the point where my once confident knowledge of older music held some value in terms of what was discussed only to realize that I really didn't have a clue. It's no wonder I try my best to keep my thoughts to myself and post as little as I do these days. By the way Jesse...the weather here is pretty good...a little nippy by your standards I guess...but pretty good none the less... Thanks Kim
