Haven't done one of my Top Tens for a while and I still have a few good ones to go. This one's pretty easy and some of you who don't live in the USA or Britain will probably have a better list than I do. 10-Europe. "The Final Countdown", yes, THAT Europe. Is this a sign of how few bands there are to choose from? Maybe, but I always thought Europe was a pretty decent band. Moreso their early stuff, but I can tolerate "The Final Countdown" on occasion. 9-U2. Not a fan at all, but I'd be a fool NOT to hav them on my list somewhere. Proabably deserving of the #1 spot, but I hate them too much to rank them any higher than 9. 8-Gamma Ray. The splinter group from Helloween, Gamma Ray made aname for themselves by being every bit as good as Hellloween in the 1990's. Their albums have tailed off a little bit as of late, basically repeating the same old cliches musically and lyrically, however at one time they were one of my favorites. While all my friends were listening to Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, ALice In Chains and the like, I was wearing out the first 5 Gamma Ray Cds. 7-Stratovarius. As far as I know, they are about the only band from Finland that I can name. I started buying their CDs when I couldn't get enough Gamma Ray and Helloween. Great power metal band. I used to be on a Metal dicussion forum and seemed like everybody hated Stratovarius, fuck me, I thought they were great! 6-Triumph. Canada's "other" power trio. I liked these guys way more than Rush. I could relate to what they were doing more, I suppose. If this list were only MY tastes, Triumph might be #1, but I have to factor into the equation that Triumph's hey day wasn't all that long, nor great. More to come!

5-Accept. Outstanding German power metal band. Not sure what else I can say about them, they friggin' rock, that should be enough! 4-Helloween. Another great German band. Took the Iron Maiden concept to new heights. 3-Scorpions. What is it with these damn Germans? I guess one could say that this is the band that put Germnay on the musical map. 2-Rush. I don't particularly care for them, but I've learned to appreciate them over the years. Can't deny their success nor influence. 1-AC/DC. Australian Rockers prove that less is more time and time again.

Ok, here's my new list: 10-U2. I still hate 'em, but the HAVE to be on the list somewhere. 9-Golden Earring. I can only think of a handful of songs of theirs that I like, but that's more than I can say about U2. 8-Thin Lizzy. Excellent Underrated band. 7-BTO. Their music always puts a smile on my face......and if I'm driving, usually causes me to get a speeding ticket. 6-Triumph. 5-Accept 4-Helloween/Gamma Ray. Ok, I'm cheating. I can't bring myself to leave either off the list, so since Helloween begat Gamma Ray and both bands have shared musicians over the years, I'm putting them in a tie for 4th place. 3-Scorpions 2-Rush. This still kills me a bit, because I really can't listen to more than one song of theirs at a time. Still, they are great musicians who've had an outstanding run of success. I can't deny them that. 1-AC/DC I think I've got it now.

I have no fucking idea where the bands I like come from until about 10 years or so pass and I eventually hear about that detail stuff. Hell, most of the time I don't even know the name of the songs I like until I'm forced to find out to get it on youtube.
