What music was your favorite back in high school?
Also if you went to a party on a Friday night, what songs would be played during your high school years?

Foghat,Ted Nugent,Kiss,Alice Cooper, Aerosmith,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Led Zeppelin,Molly Hatchet & AC/DC just to name some. Back in my little home town we had a party somewhere every Friday & Saturday night either the river or an old spot we called the hayfield, a big Bon-Fire coolers full of beer and plenty of weed. The good ol' days I guess, I'm just happy I survived all of those "Good Times".

What music was your favorite back in high school? Also if you went to a party on a Friday night, what songs would be played during your high school years? Ok, this is a two parter: First question: I listened to mostly Southern Rock. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels Band and whatever I could find by The Outlaws, Blackfoot and Marshall Tucker Band (Most Outlaws, Blackfoot and Marshall Tucker albums were out of print by the late '80's. I love what I heard of them, but a majority of their respective catalogs didn't enter my collection until AFTER High School). I also still had my Country favorites from earlier in the decade like Hank Williams Jr, Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe as well as some newer Country like Dwight Yoakam, Kentucky Headhunters and even some Garth Brooks. I was also very much into Led Zeppelin, Ted Nugent, Heart and to a lesser extent some Pink Floyd and Neil Young. I had also gotten into some Christian Rockers like Whitecross and Shout and some Heavy Metal like Dokken, Metallica, Metal Church, Accept and Helloween. 2nd Question: I guess it depends on who was throwing the party. Probably a lot of Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, AC/DC and Poison would be in the mix. I also recall a lot of folks into Megadeth, Overkill, Testament and the like.

At a party, because of the people around, there was a lot of GnR, Styx, Zeppelin, Floyd, Queen. Some hair bands (that I never dug).

High School for me was basically the same stuff I still listen to...Kiss,Alice Cooper, Stones, Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult,Aerosmith,Nugent,Max Webster,Triumph,AC/DC,Cheap Trick,The Doors,Angel,Starz, Foreigner, Pat Travers, Rick Derringer. I wasn't really a partier until just after high School During High School my friends & I would just sit around & crank out our records. Instead of spending our money on booze we bought records. I had a lot of fun partying through the 80's & I always brought my records to the parties mixing a bit of everything as far as music was concerned (by the mid/late 80's I was making up party mix cassettes & brought them)

April Wine, BTO, ZZ Top, Queen, Styx, Uriah Heep,Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Edgar Winter Group, Skynyrd, Eagles, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, ELO, Sweet,...pretty much the going rate for the day back in the mid to late 70's. Back then, it was like clockwork...Friday nite dinner was finished by about 6, dishes done and mom and my step dad would be off to their "cottage" for the weekend by 7pm or so. They'd be heading out the front door of the apartment building and the boys would be coming up the back entrance with a "two-four" of beer, which we all chipped in on of course. It was all good. Always maintained our sense of decency...music was never loud and we behaved ourselves...and this from about 4 to 6 guys, 16 to 18 years old. It was a place to kick back and enjoy part of of our weekends during our teen years. On one occasion, my mom came back to get a forgotten item and I figured, "okay, I'm busted"!!! She just greeted my friends whom she knew and loved, said "behave yourselves and "have one for me"...and off she went. When I asked her about it upon their return Sunday nite, she said that she kind of suspected that we had these getogethers over the past year or so, but trusted and believed that my friends and I would be mature enough to ensure that things never got out of hand...and you know what?... they never did. Sometimes, we'd gather on a Saturday nite and watch the hockey game, with the sound off and the tunes on at a decent level so you could still shoot the shit. Believe it or not, it reminds me of "That 70's Show"...haha cuz we did have a girl that hung out with us that enjoyed being with the boys...and she was cute too!!! haha. That was a long time ago and the old gang has long since gone their separate ways. That's the part of my highschool days that I miss the most... To Bernie, Clint, Hal, Rick, Brent, Anthony, Brenda...and of course my mom, for believing in us, here's to you guys... Thanks Kim

It was mostly hair metal and pop. There was a friend who had an older brother who at parties would always insist on playing the music and he'd put in his Sabbath, Nugent, Nazareth albums which got me interested in those. Shortly after high school I started to get into arena rock like Boston, Foreigner, et. al. From their I went backwards and forward listening to more classic rock and whatever the current crop of rock consisted of.
To this day I still keep a foot in the pop pond but mainly listen to rock whether it's classic, current mainstream or alt. Although, most recently I've been gaining new appreciation for The Rolling Stones. The woman I'm dating is turning me into a Fleetwood Mac fan.
