I know I've probably left out some obvious comebacks, but that was all I could think of at the time. An argument could be made that Aerosmith's comeback album was Permanent Vacation, but Done with mirrors was the first with the original band reunited so there ya go. Oh and if you choose other please name what "other" album you're voting for.

Well....it seems like EVERY time Metallica does a CD its a "comeback." And, IMO, Aerosmith's Done with Mirrors was SUPPOSED to be their big comeback... but it wasnt. Permanent Vacation ended up being their big comeback album. From the list, i'd go with Death Magnetic. But, going off the list, I would go with Brave New World from Iron Maiden.
Some others i can think of that arent listed: AC/DC -Black Ice Fleetwood Mac- Say You Will Heart- Red Velvet Car Pink Floyd- A Momentary Lapse of Reason Rush- Vapor Trails Bob Seger- Face the Promise Steely Dan- Two Against Nature Traffic- Far From Home CSN&Y- Looking Forward Phish - Joy Y&T- Facemelter Whitesnake- Good to be Bad Tina Turner- Private Dancer Testament- The Formation of Damnation Social Distortion- Sex, Love and Rock n Roll Santana- Supernatural Elvis Presley- NBC-TV Special ('68 Comeback) George Harrison- Cloud 9 The Cult- Beyond Good and Evil Stone Temple Pilots- S/T Jerry Lee Lewis- The Duets Krokus- Hoodoo Johnny Cash- American Recordings Buckcherry- 15 Anthrax- Worship Music
(OK...i went thru my Window Media Player for help)

Well I knew I missed a few, but that's a whole helluva lot Anyways my fave comeback was Perfect Strangers. These polls just don't seem to get the board going like they once did.

I went with Heaven & Hell. What a fantastic album. Its sad to know theyll never play together again. Bible Black became my favorite song by this band over their classics Die Young & Heaven & Hell. Had Heaven & Hell had not been on this list I would have went with Deep Purple.

Hard to pick "the best" but from the list I'd go with Heaven and Hell, just because I was so bummed when Sabbath dropped Ozzy and Dio split with Blackmore (Rainbow). I never thought that the two would get together and make an album that (IMO) rivels the best stuff from either band!

From the list Van Halen. It's fund to have Dave back and Van Halen making decent music again. Off the list I'd have to go with Pink Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Tough one. I haven't yet listened to all of the new Van Halen so I can't honestly judge it. But I love what Ive heard so far. The main competiton in this poll is Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell and Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers. Man, those are really great albums and amazing combacks. It's difficult to choose one of those over the other. I'm choosing Heaven and Hell. It's very pure and remarkable. Black Sabbath were on the fast track to be has-beens. Then POW! Dio hops in, replaces the un-replaceable and voila! That album is crazy good.

Black Sabbath (with Dio) released a CD in 2009 and called their band Heaven and Hell.

I went with 'Perfect Strangers' but I did love Lita Ford's comeback album a few years ago titled "Wicked Wonderland" which was a very dark & Heavy album. Kim Mitchell's 'Ain't Life Amazing' really kicked ass & although it sounded more like a David Johansen solo record I really loved the NY Dolls 'One Day it will Please Us...'

Well I knew I missed a few, but that's a whole helluva lot Anyways my fave comeback was Perfect Strangers. These polls just don't seem to get the board going like they once did. Actually Warpig, your 3 threads regarding polls racked up some pretty good responses considering the quiet nature of the board these days, so give yourself some much due credit in doing so...keep em coming!... Yeah yeah...I hear your reply now... "Okay but what was your pick for comeback album...?" I can't really say as I have not heard any of them on the list and off the top of my head can't think of one. Just thought I'd pass along some kudos to you for injecting some life into the forum... Thanks Kim

Deep Purple's 'Perfect Strangers' is probably the greatest comeback album of all time. As much as l love the classic era Deep Purple(One of my favorite bands)....I think it could be argued that 'Perfect Strangers' is their best album......which for me is a reason it is probably the great hardrock comeback album of all time.
For Black Sabbath....I would put 'Born Again' as a greater comeback album. You have to remember that the Dio era Sabbath was not that successful at the time. 'Born Again' was actually a fairly successful album upon its release.....and in my opinion a better record.
