So...as long as we all waited for it...the summer of 2010 came and went...REEEAL FAST didn't it!!!! ? Granted, there are still a number of dates and artists that are on the bill and can be had for the going fee??? Who was it however, that you had the chance to see thus far since, ohhhhh let's say MAY! Has it been a slow summer for you in terms of gigs attended? Give us your list of those that you had the chance to see, those that you wished you had seen, or those that still might be a possibility...in the next little while. Personally, I was not fortunate enough to attend a decent musical gig over the last number of months, but can state that I do have tickets to see "Howie Mandel" here in town in October...so at least I should have a good laugh. Saw him here in 91' and my gut was sore for 3 days from laffin'...so I am once again looking forward to the show. Whether it was due to the economy or other factors...we just didn't get any sort of opportunities this year...? Next year should prove to be better!! Thanks Kim

On July 23rd I FINALLY got yo take my oldest son Chris to see Kiss in Cheyenne Wyoming. We've been wanting to see them together since 1996 for the reunion tour it just never worked out. But it did this year!! Best show ever for me!! Chris was 6 in 96 & is 19 now. It was probably the best day I've ever spent with my son. I'll post pics here one day soon. On August 16th my son took me to see Drowning Pool in Lincoln Nebraska at a club for my birthday. What a wonderful live band. If Motley & Ozzy are following them on Ozzfest this year... God forbid because their getting BLOWN OFF THE STAGE by Drowning Pool on a nightly basis I'm sure.

I usually go see a lot more over the summer considering I can see the world's largest music festival from my window but I spent a lot of $$$ on Roger Waters early which will pay off very soon. So before Roger this summer I have only seen 30 Seconds To Mars and Jimmy Buffet.

I seen nuthin', know nuthin'...I think my days are over as far as concerts go. Detroit and Grand Rapids sucks as far as driving home that late at night, not into big crowds anymore either, ticket prices I'm now boycotting also. I'll stick to live DVDs!!!

I can't believe the ticket prices either. If you think about it...in the 70's when I seen Kiss I paid $6.50 for the ticket. That $6.50 was about the same cost for a record album in 1978 so shouldn't today's prices be around 15-20 dollars??? I hate paying 50 bucks for a concert although I will for Cooper or Kiss but for my tastes no one else is worth it. I'm excited to go to Roger Waters & the main reason I'm going is because tickets were under 50 bucks & my wife really wanted to go. I paid for the Cooper & Kiss shows this summer but the others were all free
Kim, Thorogood was probably the worst of the concerts I seen this summer but he put on a pretty good show although it was nothing like his '80's performances.

I'm getting to that point myself. Never thought it would happen to me as I used to hit damn near every concert of the summer. Just not into the crowds and, unless I'm in the front row, not really into the live experience like I used to be. Ticket prices don't help either. Bad enough tickets for almost anything are in upward of $60, but then you get hit with another $15-$18 PER TICKET in "handling fees". FUCK YOU! That said, I did see Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum and Love & Theft this summer. That was it. My Fiancee loved it. Not a bad show, but again, high ticket prices, we had to park over a mile away (and pay $20 besides!), large crowded venue, overpriced food and drinks (2 strawberry daqueries $28!), traffic congestion going to the venue, traffic congestion leaving the venue........FUCK IT!

Hearing every one bitch about traffic makes me thankful I live within walking distance of about 5 major venues. But tonight I'm going to the UC in Chicago which is the mother of all traffic headaches.

I can relate to all the comments. Attending concerts is acruing quite a pain in the ass factor.
This year I'm still paying my friend back for a Scorpions show that he was kind enough to front me the money for.
Rounding out this season:
Cheap Trick -real good. FUN. Def Leppard -DISMAL ...a mere shell of past glory Poison -actually OK but not great
Cinderella -KICK-ASS! Scorpions -A benchmark for excellence
Ratt -Not too bad Scorpions -Damn. They were great!

I saw Clutch (good show even though I was in the pit), Porcupine Tree (sonically brilliant), and Rush (great show!).

Unfortunately my schedule did not allow for any concerts this year. I think I could have fit one or two in if I really tried. Shamefully I really didn't.
Don't know why really. Maybe traffic, driving to and from... Maybe I'm just getting to be an old fart.

"Lady Antebellum", I have a few of their tunes on my Flash Player and I really like the music! They seem to have the talent, hooks and melodies to "get ya" from the first listen. Thanks Kim

Not into arenas this late in life. I have always preferred the outdoor concerts. Saw The Doobies, but weren't that spectacular. We used to have great outdoor summer jams here, but all they book anymore are hip hop shit. The best I've seen lately, which was 7 years ago,was Steppenwolf,Iron Butterfly and Black Oak Arkansas on one bill. That was great. Now our own group is talking about disbanding, for all we get are Holiday Inn Lounges. I may go back to studio work. Not not for some hip bullshit!

How "late in life" are we talking here Yardbird?...hahaha I'm 51 and it sounds like you've "been there and done that", but just wondering. By all accounts, it appears that you lean heavily to the older, 60's, 70's genre of music. Sad to hear that your group is disbanding. What seems to be it's downfall, other than the "Holiday Inn" gigs? Any thoughts of continuing on with the format that you're used to performing?...with or without the former band mates? What music does your group currently cater to, cover or perform? What music would you really prefer to carry on with, in terms of performing? Nosey little bastard aren't I?...ahh well...it's my job...other than running the Sno Cone machine when Rik, Pete and Jesse aren't looking...hahaha. Seriously, great to have you here as a member, and look forward to hearing of your trials, tribulations and overall accounts regarding your past musical history! I'm sure it's been one helluva ride huh?... We all look forward to your input! Thanks Kim
