Only been to two shows this year. Saw Paul Di'Anno back in February and saw Iron Maiden in July. Both great shows.

Not into arenas this late in life. I have always preferred the outdoor concerts. Saw The Doobies, but weren't that spectacular. We used to have great outdoor summer jams here, but all they book anymore are hip hop shit. The best I've seen lately, which was 7 years ago,was Steppenwolf,Iron Butterfly and Black Oak Arkansas on one bill. That was great. Now our own group is talking about disbanding, for all we get are Holiday Inn Lounges. I may go back to studio work. Not not for some hip bullshit! How "late in life" are we talking here Yardbird?...hahaha I'm 51 and it sounds like you've "been there and done that", but just wondering. By all accounts, it appears that you lean heavily to the older, 60's, 70's genre of music. Sad to hear that your group is disbanding. What seems to be it's downfall, other than the "Holiday Inn" gigs? Any thoughts of continuing on with the format that you're used to performing?...with or without the former band mates? What music does your group currently cater to, cover or perform? What music would you really prefer to carry on with, in terms of performing? Nosey little bastard aren't I?...ahh well...it's my job...other than running the Sno Cone machine when Rik, Pete and Jesse aren't looking...hahaha. Seriously, great to have you here as a member, and look forward to hearing of your trials, tribulations and overall accounts regarding your past musical history! I'm sure it's been one helluva ride huh?... We all look forward to your input! Thanks Kim Hi Kim, I'm not that much older than you in years.I am 55. I don't know your musical background, but you sound like you know something about it. As per my post in the introductions,I started this ride at a very young age.As I stated there I was playing with John Lee Hooker at 20,by age 21 doing studio work.I've played on numerous albums, got to meet and play with numerous musicians. I left the studio back in the mid-90's. I didn't like the change I saw comming over the music industry. Sure a job is a job a gig is a gig and all that. But real music was and is dying out.Instuments giving way to computor sounds and electonic bullshit. MTV making stars out of no talented girly boys with good looks. I'm a dedicated die hard rocker!I still love amps on stage and cords running all over the place.Carrying a nice light box of Red,Blue and Yellow. I love the road, the nervousness,"fear",anticipation of the next show. You know. I've had only one major band since, yes we play only 60's and very very, early 70's. I've read a lot of posters here who like a lot of great bands.Ask yourself why you like them. It's not an age thing or nostalga,it's music.REAL music, not some fabricated factory shit. When you hear that leslie screaming out Steppenwolf ,Iron Butterfly,or evan an old Animals tune,it makes you want to come!!! That why are band will probably give it up.All people want today is some boy with his pants falling off.screaming I want to fuck you.SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW...I was just thinking that I MIGHT have seen only ONE show this Summer. Reverend Horton Heat with Cracker and Split Lip Rayfield...it was great though. I AM, however going to see Accept and Kings X in about a week. If you've never saw Kings X live, you're in for a treat Speedy. Amazing live band. And real nice guys too! I saw King's X open for Porcupine Tree in Chicago a year ago. Great, great live band! Mark

I'm getting to that point myself. Never thought it would happen to me as I used to hit damn near every concert of the summer. Just not into the crowds and, unless I'm in the front row, not really into the live experience like I used to be. Ticket prices don't help either. Bad enough tickets for almost anything are in upward of $60, but then you get hit with another $15-$18 PER TICKET in "handling fees". FUCK YOU! That said, I did see Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum and Love & Theft this summer. That was it. My Fiancee loved it. Not a bad show, but again, high ticket prices, we had to park over a mile away (and pay $20 besides!), large crowded venue, overpriced food and drinks (2 strawberry daqueries $28!), traffic congestion going to the venue, traffic congestion leaving the venue........FUCK IT! "Lady Antebellum", I have a few of their tunes on my Flash Player and I really like the music! They seem to have the talent, hooks and melodies to "get ya" from the first listen. Thanks Kim I'm really starting to appreciate Country music again and Lady Antebellum is a big reason why. The vocal harmonies in today's Country are unparralleled in today's Rock and Pop scene.
