AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has reportedly been charged with attempting to procure a murder, as well as possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill. According to Stuff.co.nz, the shocking charges were brought after police raided Rudd’s home in Mauta, New Zealand, earlier today. It is not known who Rudd allegedly was attempting to have murdered. He was scheduled to appear in New Zealand court on Thursday afternoon. Rudd was conspicuously missing from the simultaneous filming of two videos for AC/DC’s upcoming album, ‘Rock or Bust,’ as well as from a publicity photo the band posted on its Facebook page last month. His absence — attributed to a “family emergency” at the time by singer Brian Johnson — prompted speculation that Rudd’s status in the group was in jeopardy. AC/DC is already dealing with the recent departure of founding rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who has been diagnosed with dementia. We will have more updates on this breaking story as they become available.

A day after AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested for attempting to hire someone to murder two people, the band has issued a statement on the matter. Although there is no definitive word on Rudd’s status with the band, their words hint that his time with the rock legends may be over. The three-sentence statement was issued on their Facebook page. It reads, “We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album ‘Rock or Bust‘ and upcoming tour next year.” Rudd was released on bail yesterday after offering no plea, but the use of the word “absence,” without a word like “possible” or “potential” before it, suggests that they are already making plans to carry on without him. There was also no expression of concern along the lines of, “Our thoughts are with him at this difficult time,” which is more-or-less standard in such statements. Last month, rumors about Rudd’s departure from AC/DC were circulating after they released a new publicity photo for the upcoming record that omitted Rudd, and it was revealed that he had also missed a video shoot due to a “family emergency.”

The procuring-murder charge against AC/DC‘s Phil Rudd has been dropped. According to Stuff.co.nz, the 60-year-old drummer still faces a charge of threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis stemming from his arrest yesterday. Rudd was arrested yesterday on charges that he allegedly tried to hire someone to murder two people. He was initially charged with attempting to procure a murder, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and threatening to kill. He was released on bail and due back in court in three weeks. But now the major charge against him has been withdrawn. ”The decision to charge Mr. Rudd was made by the New Zealand Police without consultation with the Tauranga Crown solicitor,” Rudd’s lawyer, Paul Mabey, said. After a meeting with police, it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to justify the charge. Mabey also said that the drug possession charges are “minor.” ”Mr. Rudd has suffered unnecessary and extremely damaging publicity as a result of widespread and sensational reporting of a very serious allegation, which on any basis was never justified,” he added. Earlier today, AC/DC released a statement that read, “We’ve only become aware of Phil’s arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil’s absence will not affect the release of our new album ‘Rock or Bust‘ and upcoming tour next year.”

As of late, I think Bill Cosby has a lot more to be concerned about regarding a "career" compared to the so called accusations regarding Phil. Let's face it, Phil is a "rock & roller" and may be targeted for reasons unbeknownst to the rest of us, on one single account...after a "hard night of drinking" ??.... Cosby, on the other hand, claiming to be the new age "father of America", has many "skeletons" coming out of the closet over the last 40 years and looks pretty suspect at this point. Thanks Kim
