They came. They rocked. They conquered. Metal gods Judas Priest debuted their new lineup – including latest addition Richie Faulkner – on the American Idol finale Wednesday night. Priest teamed up Idol contestant James Durbin for a double-shot of metal, playing two of their classics, “Livin’ After Midnight” and “Breaking The Law.” James rocked Priest’s “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” back in March, possibly the first time heavy metal has hit the Idol stage. All season long, Durbin encouraged Idol viewers to get behind the heavy with his slogan, “give metal a chance”; he was eliminated two weeks ago and ended up in fourth place. Priest have just announced North American dates for the band’s Epitaph Tour, billed as the band’s final world tour, which kicks off June 7 in Holland. “We’re pulling out all the stops,” singer Rob Halford told the media at an L.A. press conference Tuesday. “We’ve built a brand new stage set, we’ve got all the effects that people love us for — the lasers, the fire, the bombs, the smoke, new costumes, and the bike. It’s just a full-on metal extravaganza.”

I wouldn't have thought it after the first few seasons, but lately, I can't help but think that American Idol has been a great thing for music.

As most of you know... I was never a fan of this sort of stuff........ But I have to say......this is pretty damned good! Thanks Pete!!!!!! What a great video!!!!!!!!!!!...and this, coming from a guy that had issues with "American Idol"....... It's obvious I need to get into the groove and at the age of 52, understumble the entire deal that this venue has to offer!!!
Thanks again Pete...I love JP and thought that they did a fine job promoting themselves...a young audience finaly gets to hear what they were all about.
I'm impressed!...and it takes a lot to impress the shite out of me!
Now...as far as the "gay" comment............. I have to say this.............
It's obvious that "homophobia", is rearing it's ugly head here.
Let me say this...there is no room....NO ROOM here for this thought process on the board.
Anyone that want's to be a "Homophobe", "Redneck" or "Nazi" had best check them selves at the door or I'll be the first one to 86' the sonsofbitches and their comments out of here...............................
Wanna try me?........I still check this place out and I still believe that it's a safe place to come for anyone that wants to discus music...........and the ast time I checked........ I'm still a MODERATOR!!!....so knock it off.
Rob Halford is who he is.........so is Elton...... So is anyone else that feels good about their lifestyle...and that can incude your neighbour and best friend........ Lighten up.........life is short...then you die...any questions?
Are we clear here?....................................
Thanks Kim

I sure hope we will never see Sabbath with Lady Ga Ga. Another thing also. Can we get any cheesier having that boy play dress up as Rob Halford? Check please. I won't be coming back anytime soon to watch this show.

Me neither, but I never much watched it to begin with. You? I've got a pretty good educational guess that most folks who watch American Idol don't know the first thing about Judas Priest. So, by Priest playing on American idol, they are exposing themselves and Metal in general to a whole new audience who seemed to enjoy it. You know, you get on this forum and bitch that nobody likes "real" music anymore and, here, Priest and American Idol joined forces to bring good music to people who won't seek it out on their own.....and you bitch about that too. I don't get you.

They are made for the morons who LIKE this sort of thing. In that respect, I think it's great to expose those people (mostly the younger generation) to the likes of Judas Priest, Alice Cooper and Kiss.....aw, hell.....even Aerosmith. They might never get into those bands otherwise.

The kid was doing a song with Priest. What did you want him to wear, a tux? You just like to piss and moan about the good old days that you weren't even around to see! By the time you were born I had seen The Who, Queen, Tull, Styx, Uncle Ted, Aerosmith, Molly Hatchet, Priest, UFO, Yes, Nazareth, Foghat, Kiss, Alice Cooper........... And you come on here and try to tell everyone what is good and what is crap?

I agree with just about everything Jesse said (although I really don't mind watching the show). It is exposing different people to acts like Kiss, Priest, Alice...etc. There is no doubt that Priest sales went way up after that appearance. Equinox is right on target as well.
