That way they won't piss off so many people, thinking that the "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame should actually have some rock and roll in it!!

Actually the connection with that song, album, & rock & roll goes a bit deeper. At that time Abba was popular in Scandanavia & Germany & while in the studio in Germany they were introduced to a 17 year old guitarist named Michael Sarstedt. Benny & Bjorn from Abba were producing the album & were pretty well amazed at the young guitarist so they used him on a few of the tracks which went on to be uncredited. Sarstedt was not Michael's Birth name but was actually the city in which he was born. Sarstedt was indeed Michael Schenker & I'm sorry you had to read all of this shit just to find out I made it all up!!!

It's all B.S....so i treat it as such by not thinking or caring about it. I got my OWN R&R Hall of Fame in my heart and mind. And thats the only shrine I care about.

I wouldn’t mind going to the HOF in Cleveland one day just to see all the memorabilia. My question is…Do you have to be IN the HOF to have memorabilia in it? Or do they also include stuff from artists who are not inducted?

Or do they also include stuff from artists who are not inducted? Personally I loved it there & there was a room of all different costumes on maniquins & they had Alice's guillotine & Gene Simmons Alive Costume so yes there was different memorabilia. I was there with my wife in 2003 & was in there for at least 4 or 5 hours. We had a 2 day ticket & we went back for another 2 hours the next day. They had an awesome 2 hour film of all the inductees in one room. There are people I know that didn't enjoy it as much I did but for me there was plenty to read & look at. I was really surprised w/ my wife because she enjoyed it almost as much as me & usually if we go in a CD/record shop she's yawning & bored to death after 10 minutes

Still, I do think they could avoid a lot of controversy and bitching if they would just call it the "Pop Music Hall Of Fame" or simpler yet: "The Hall Of Fame For Music". I do get a kick out of the criteria for consideration though. Other than the requirement that their debut must have been at least 25 years ago, the criteria is so vague that one could make an argument FOR any artist who had any amount of success in their career OR AGAINST any artist shy of the success and influence of Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin.

It's very easy to slam and hammer ABBA. No problems there whatsoever. A lot of folks cringe when the name is mentioned. Everyone's thinking of "Dancing Queen" right? Ahahahaha...
It's also somewhat absurd to think that they should be, or could be included into the "Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame"...yet when one considers the inductees over the past years, we collectively have to ask ourselves one question.........just who is in charge of allowing those in that we all seem to have problems with, each and every year?
Who is it that is really in charge of actually getting them in there? Old folks? Young folks? Uninformed folks? Idiots? ...or is there some contributions on a "side level" that gets the groups or artists in there?
Hammer ABBA all you want, but I will say this, they were, and had a greater contribution to today's music much more than people realize.
Short of someone like Shania Twain, you will not find any group or artist capable of putting out music with hooks in the music such as this ensemble from Sweden ever did. Plus, the quality of their productions have put them and their music in the upper echelon and proof of that can be witnessed by attending a showing of "Mama Mia".
Even the BEE GEE's have yet to have that honour bestowed upon them and yet they were apparently just as big or not bigger than ABBA ever was?
Granted, ABBA, is not to everyone's taste, but to deny their contribution over the years to "music" overall, is to admit that Beethoven never played the piano.
Yeah...not rock and roll in the classic sense...but tell me this... Who in the hell voted in half of the retards into the hall over such a short period, that can't even be regarded as musicians to begin with?
As much as I respect Frankie Vali and the 4 Seasons, The Beach Boys, BTO, Led Zeppelin, or any of the other original groups out there we love...I have yet to hear of a "billion dollar" offer for them to reunite such as ABBA has been given.
Simply put, I for one would love to hear a new song from this group...simply for their excellent harmonies, vocals and musical arrangement ANYDAY!...and I mean ANYDAY...compared to the silly, nonsensical, crap I've been subjected to over the last many years. I also have to include the fact that their production values and quality on their albums was 2nd to none!
Maybe a few of those "nay sayers" need to take the time to listen to what ABBA actually had to offer? Sappy?...yeah...some of the tunes were...but that's what touched the majority...then there was the "other stuff"... "Summer Night City"..."On & On & On". Very simple music...but so was The Beatles and yet there are a lot of fans that respect that "simplicity" in regards to a groups diverse output.
Show me one group today that compares to ABBA?...... Insert group here ______________________________________ I know that line above will remain blank.
Sub standard vocals, stupid assed attitudes, suicidal sounding, piss poor timbered vocals and overall lousy instumental inclusions appear to be the standard these days...well, sorry, I just can't get into it that garbage.........Call me old and an ABBA fan... I'll suck it up!
Thanks Kim

Just to echo what Kim said. Listen to ABBA's 'Summer Night City' & tell me that is not a rock song. Certainly heavier than anything Journey ever did! Also a song like 'Eagle' is along the lines of Heart. Hell, even Yngwie Malmsteen covered one of their songs. They were a band that is too good for The Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame.

I do not really have a problem with the artists that have been inducted. My biggest gripe is focused on how in the world KISS is still not in the so-called "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame"!!!!! Imagine if the Pro Football Hall of Fame refused someone like Terry Bradshaw or if the Baseball HOF refused Reggie Jackson. That would be ABSURD!!! ...well, this is absurd....

Actually it's more like The Pro Football Hall Of Fame not inducting Terry Bradshaw, but rather inducting Pele, David Beckem, Serena Williams, Bobby Orr, Wilt Chamberlain and Darrel Waltrip.
