MOTLEY CRUE Singer Comments On ASHLEE SIMPSON Lip-Syncing Controversy (Blabbermouth) In a recent interview with Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM, MOTLEY CRUE singer Vince Neil was asked to comment on the Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing controversy. "I'm glad (she was exposed on national TV), too, because there's a lot of people... the majority of the new people that are out there now, these teenagers basically do movies and then figure they can just go out and put out a record," Neil said. "The way the technology is today, you can just go in there and sing, and a guy can actually adjust every syllable and every word that you just sang and make it sound amazing. And then these people go on stage, and they have no talent, so they lip-sync. And it's cheating everybody. "I'm glad she got caught. And I've seen her sing since then, and she sucks. "If you've got true talent, you don't need to do that. "There's some other people that I've talked to some producers that... some chicks that have done a couple of albums and sold millions, and they spent weeks and months editing their vocals to make them sound good, and they only spent one day in the studio and did the record - one day. It's pretty sad. "This has gotta stop. It's not about talent anymore, it's about money. "If you've got the cash, you could go make a good record."

Anyone hear Vince Neil sing recently? I hear he sucks too! Doesn't make what he's saying here any less true, I know, but it sounds funny coming from someone whose voice is shot (and was questionable even back in the day).

"The way the technology is today, you can just go in there and sing, and a guy can actually adjust every syllable and every word that you just sang and make it sound amazing."He should know...they've been doing it for him at least since Dr. Feelgood. Vince knows it...we ALL know it. There's an old saying..."Better to be silent and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

When I saw Motley recently, they were using taped vocals too.............. I saw the Crue on Leno last night, and the background vocals were taped, but the rest of the tune was live...but that's not new...we saw that screw up pretty bad at the Spike Awards not long ago...actually last night they made it pretty obvious in places, as Nikki backed away from the mic and Mick Mars wasn't even attempting to sing, but the background vocals were pretty full...Tommy Lee couldn't have been doing it all alone!

They were enhancing Neil and you are absolutely right, the other guys didn't even bother to pretend they were singing the background harmonies half the time.

Just makes me heap more enthusiasm towards bands like Silvertide and less to these reunion gigs...

I don't understand bands these days needing these tracks...years ago you went to a show, and the background vocals were as good as the guys singing them, and we didn't really care...

I enjoyed the film clips from 1983. The US festival was a good time for all. Motley did a good job.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but Mick Mars has one of his vocal cords that is paralyzed from the disease his suffers from, so he probably is not able to sing as he did before. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.............
