He'll have a lot more time on his hands now to perfect that "Wall of Sound" of his that he was at one point touted in having on some of his earlier productions since he'll be confined to 4 of them.
Maybe he can find a way to use the shitter as an impromptu echo chamber?
Thanks Kim

I love Social D. However QUICKTIME f*cking sucks. Don't ever post a quicktime link EVER again ;D I have to agree with ya Speedy. Quicktime does in fact suck. I have no choice but to use it for viewing my videos taken with my camera because Panasonic decided that this was the format of choice in viewing the vids taken with their line of cameras. What a pain in the arse! Big files and very little user friendly features that come with the supplied software unless you give in to buying their extend version of the software...BASTARDS! Thanks Kim

Good question Jesse...
To add to the question, I'm wondering when the term Classic Rock was first coined? I'm thinking that this was heard back in the 80's at least and was in reference to groups of the early 60's to mid 70's perhaps?
At that time, in the 80's, we were being hit with groups like Cheap Trick, The Police, and a whole whack of others that in today's position, are in fact considered "Classic Rock".
I almost wonder if the term can be considered relative to another thread that mentioned, "When The Music Died"?... and would include those groups or artists that are favourites on a personal level even up to and including music from the early 90's?
Like anything else in life, I would think that room needs to be made to include artists that have been around now for 15 plus years and in 5 or 10 years down the road, may in fact have to be included into the Classic Rock genre...kinda like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...hahahahahahahahaha.
Tough call. We may have to reclassify the entire genre and call it something like Original Classic Rock - Roots? ;D
Thanks Kim

I've always been a fan of Mac ever since they picked up Nicks/Buckingham.
What can I say, for a top 10 listing, you can pretty much mark me down for the entire Runours album with the exception of Songbird and Oh Daddy...so there's 9 right there.
Tusk,...never really heard much of this release for some reason?
Loved the underrated Mirage album and would only toss out 1 track on this one...Only Over You. The rest of the tunes are great in my opinion.
Tango In The Night really didn't do anything for me.
The Dance is a good release considering some of the different takes on some of the tracks.
Say You Will was also a decent album and I could list a few tracks off of this release into a top 10 list as well...
That being said, I'd have to either go for a top 20 list or cast aside some heavily favoured Mac tracks.
Just for sh*ts & giggles though...
1. Second Hand News 2. I Don't Wanna Know 3. Can't Go Back 4. Eyes Of The World 5. What's The World Coming To 6. Steal Your Heart Away 7. I'm so Afraid 8. Rhiannon 9. Bleed To Love Her 10. The Chain

I know it's a little bit of a weird question, but who's your favorite artist that you haven't got an album of for whatever reason? For me, it's Jethro Tull. Although Kim gave me a homemade compilation CD a year or so ago and I have downloaded a few of their hits from iTunes, I have yet to buy an actual CD of them. Not sure why as I always mean to and I really love pretty much everything I've ever heard from them. How about you? I hope that the cd lives up to your calibre and taste in music Jesse. I can't recall exactly which songs I included on the cd? I believe that I included some of the previously unreleased material??? Thanks Kim

I'm one of the few here aas well I guess that has yet to include a Pink Floyd release into my humble little collection.
I almost picked up DSOTM a few years ago at Sam The Record Man in Toronto, but elected to go with something else for some strange reason. It's still on my list though.
Speaking of Floyd...where the hell is Pete these days???

...and here are the lyrics to the beloved tune...
Kelly my darling, you are my sunshine; When we're together I feel fine. Your smile is so lovely; your hair is so clean; You make me feel that the whole world is mine. Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, K-E-L-L-Y ... Why? Because you're
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, (pause) Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly of mine!
(applause)
Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, ... Mine!
What a hoot!

Sounds good Bucky!
Let me know what you think if you pick er up.
I only have the one that I picked up last year entitled "New York Dolls" I believe it's a 1973 release which must be their debut album as you've indicated.
It's pretty good but not the same as the PBS special that I caught one night which most likely had a number of their other hits over the years. I just recall the dude from Hanoi Rocks, all dressed in white playing a mean guitar.

Nope. Can't say that I've tried this yet but it does sound pretty good Bucky.
I may have to look into that service.
Is there a good variety to choose from?

At any time when I fire up the puter, the first thing I do is check out this site...THEN! I check my email, so you can see where my priorities are even if I don't get the opportunity to respond to the threads. As you know, it's difficult for me to blurt out a simple few words and prefer to make it worth while by adding a little more meat to my responses in terms of some rather long winded posts. I'll admit that I just have not had the opportunity to do that for the last month or so. Coming off the heels of planning a surprise B-Day party for my sweetie and then a trip to the sunny South, I figure that I should be back in top form shortly. Still have to get the pics onto a cd, then I should be able to get back to reality here with the rest of the good folks. It appears that as of late, life has gotten busy for a number of us, at least that's what I'm going with. Jesse has done a superb job in supplying us with a number of great threads and they have garnered a decent amount of feedback from what I've seen thus far. I can sense the frustration however in that it's been rather quiet and yet I don't see where that should take away from the great site that we have here and all that it has to offer. One person does not a great site make...and collectively it's up to all of us to help keep the fire alive and sometimes just a spark or two to keep some of the burning embers hot. As soon as I can get myself organized, I'm certainly going back to respond to some of the issues that may have required some input on my behalf...(I think Jesse was egging me on for a response to the Obama thread...hahahahahaha)...and I will reply. Anyway, when I first saw this thread, I almost wanted to post one of my own entitled "Favourite Guitarist"...just to start it all over again hahahahahaha. Hang in there folks...we shall persevere!!! Thanks Kim

1959 - Pretty much the gurgle & hiss and constant heartbeat coming through the womb walls. 1969 - As a 9 year old boy in short pants, I got to hear a lot of what was playing on the Jukebox at the local Chinese restaurant. CCR stands out for me along with a number of one hit wonders which escape me at the moment. 1979 - I was kind of going through a slight change-up from the earlier 70's stuff and although I was still hooked on BTO, Styx, Nazareth, Edgar Winter, Supertramp, ZZ Top, ELO and the like, newer groups like The Cars, Dire Straights, The Police, Cheap Trick and TOTO started to pique my interest at the time. The early 80's saw a much more profound change in my personal lineup, starting to get into some of the older music such as Tull for example. I found a new appreciation for Kate Bush in and around 1982 and also got into some lesser known artists such as Dave Edmunds as well. Genesis became a popular staple in my musical diet along with U2, actually having the chance to catch both acts in concert before the decade ended. 1989 - This was kind of a strange period in that I was going through a down time financially speaking and the music kind of revolved around groups and albums from a few years previous...continuing to stay with REM, Wilburys, Genesis, Roger Hodgson, Steve Earle and of course Kate Bush. It was about this time however that I kind of lost the initial feeling that I had with Kate's earlier releases and although I gave her release "The Sensual World" a really good chance...just couldn't get into it like I used to? For me, and this may answer the question to an earlier post that asked when the "music died", this was about the time that I no longer got excited about newer music by newer artists being released. In fact, there was a dry spell of a few years where I didn't make any album purchases whatsover...and if when I did resume doing so, it was the start of my journey to now replace existing cassette tapes with the cds from years past. 1999 - I was well on my way in getting my hands on Status Quo music, mostly compilations of course to find out just what the group had done over the years. Turns out it was inspiring to chance buying the new releases when they began coming out once again. That, along with beefing up my Tull collection as well to a degree by getting what I could in terms of previously unreleased material. About the only new group I was actually interested in was Collective Soul, and although they had been out for a few years, it was a refreshing change in my lineup at the time. It was also about this time that I got connected with the net and soon found new music and hard to find older stuff through venues such as Napster. Of course friends and foe alike were always willing and able to cough up a disc or two with about 3 or 400 crappy 68kb mp3 files for you to check out. It was a couple of years later I believe that I stumbled upon a site which most of us here are familiar with and it was through the great folks that I met there, and still call friends to this day on this site, that really pulled me out of the musical slag heap and opened my eyes and mind to a lot more of what has been released in the past and even giving me heads up on some of the newer stuff. So as I reach the magical 50 milestone this summer, I can only say that had it not been for the great people here...I'd still be trying to figure out just why The Travelling Wilbury's didn't put out at least one more "Volume" for me to chew on for the next couple of decades? Good thread Jesse! Thanks Kim

I've had many a tune as my so called "anthem".
Goes back to when I heard the first chords struck by The Beatles...back in the early 60's...namely "She Loves You".
Since then, it's been all over the place and rightly so... simply because there have been so many great tracks that I could call my "anthem" depending on the situation and given people present in gatherings that I have had the great opportunity to attend over the last 40+ years.
I won't count the first 4 or 5 cuz I was too concerned with eating and pooping...after that however, music kinda came into play and made the difference.
Seriously, I could make a "best of" cd of all of the tracks that I consider my anthem to an extent...filling a number of discs.
Songs including the aforementioned Beatles track to Andy Kim, to Gilbert O'Sullivan, to Steve Miller, to Status Quo, to Steve Miller, to Jethro Tull, to Kate Bush, to Led Zep, to The Tragically Hip, to Collective Soul, to Frank Sinatra...to the little ditty by the "Be Good Tanya's" that I get to hear on tv selling clothes at the nearest Zellers outlet.
I honestly couldn't pull one out to the top and call it an anthem... it would have to be a compilation to a degree. There was and is just tooooooo much great music out there to pick one song in particular.
Besides...where would ELO, Springsteen, Alan Parsons, The Cars, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Dire Straights and most importantly...BTO be if I didn't include them?
Classic rock and the classic rock musicians that have made my life great because of their collective music is my "anthem" in general!
Thanks Kim

I'm back. Just had a 50th b-day bash yesterday for the little missus and had a lot of other "puter" work to do in order to get er done. *WHEW*...have to say though, it was probably the best party I've been to in over 20 years! Had a great time! Now that it's over, I should be able to start posting again... at least for a few days, then it's off for a 1 week vacation to Punta Cana...but then I'll be back in top form!...albeit a little bit burnt to a crisp no less...and hungover...ahahahahahahaha. Smarty pants wife went for a few tans to get into shape...I didn't and will most likely pay dearly for it...ahhhhh...the smell of burning flesh...hahahahahaha. In response to an earlier thread regarding "Artwork" asking if we do any, for what it's worth, I designed the logo and printed it off at home and actually ironed them on to the shirts myself...so for anyone out there thinking of doing something similar...go for it!... It's easier than snot!...Sweetie pants didn't even noticed that I used her iron!!! hahahahahahahahaha. ....and yes... in case anyone notices... I drink Milwaukee's "Beast"...the imported stuff from the good ole US of A...not the crappy Canuck brewed version!!! That'll teach em for going on strike here in Ontario 15 years ago... Silly bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not...I repeat...DO NOT!!!...F*CK with a man and his beer!!! The other cool thing is that the "Coozie" holding the brew is one from South Padre Island, Texas...picked up in 87' and I've been using er ever since!!! I believe that was made in the USA!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Kim
