Years ago, Canada was considered as a safe haven and was devoid for most things considered wrong in terms of violent crimes and all the trappings that go along with them. Sure, there was the odd homicide, many altercations regarding racial strife, but not to the degree we witness it these days.
As of late, I have noticed many a news story that really gives me the willies here. Although we supposedly have "gun control" laws, there seems to be no shortage of people getting gunned down on our city streets, a severe increase in violent gang related deaths and altracations, more headlines containing domestic homicides on a regular basis.
In the past 24 hours, here's what's happened in the Southern part of Ontario.
Police are searching for four female suspects after a Brampton man was beaten to death outside a west end bingo hall, apparently for his winnings.
Fifty-eight-year-old Yousif Youkhana won $1,000 at Country Bingo near Finch and Islington Friday night, according to authorities.
But his good luck ended once he stepped outside just after 10pm.
Police say four women, who are said to be regulars at the bingo hall, followed him to his car and demanded that he hand over the cash. When he refused they allegedly kicked and punched him a number of times.
The victim managed to make his way back inside the building but he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the four suspects took off on foot.
They are described as:
#1
Black
250lbs, 5’7”
Short, black hair in a brush cut
#2
White
5’, 150lbs
Straight, black hair worn in a ponytail
#3
Black
150lbs, hair pulled out of the back of her black baseball cap
The fourth suspect is described as a black woman.
Because the suspects apparently frequent the betting spot, authorities are hoping witnesses will help identify them.
If you can help police, call the Homicide Squad at (416) 808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
A quiet rural community has been rattled after several bodies were found in and around vehicles abandoned near a gravel country road southwest of London Saturday morning.
A property owner made the horrifying discovery and called authorities just before 8:30am, OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor said.
The bodies were found inside and around vehicles in a field bordering Stafford Line, a few kilometres south of Highway 401, near St. Thomas.
“It’s in a rural part of Elgin County along a country road ... very isolated location surrounded by trees,” Rektor explained.
Police said the property owner isn’t linked to the victims in any way and isn't considered a suspect.
OPP Const. Doug Graham confirmed eight bodies were found, but wouldn’t comment on the cause of death.
It’s believed the victims were shot.
“We are treating this as a homicide, a multiple homicide. Certainly it appears that there was foul play and that's how we're treating it,” he said.
More victims could be found, Graham added.
“We hope that doesn't increase, but we are not sure at this point,” he said. “We haven't had an opportunity yet to search a little bit farther afield from where the vehicles are, but at this point we can confirm eight fatalities.”
While the area is isolated, there are homes about a kilometre or so from the crime scene, he said, but it’s not known if neighbours heard anything suspicious Friday night.
Authorities have said the victims are all adults, but they won’t say much more than that.
One of the three vehicles involved is said to be a tow truck that may be linked to a towing company in Toronto.
“Well there is a tow truck. I can't confirm whether it is linked to Toronto,” Graham said.
“This is the first time I have seen this type of thing happen in our area, and again we are coming to grips with it and we are being very careful in our investigation because obviously we want to do everything proper, and we want to ensure that the victims here are respected.”
So far, the OPP is the only force involved in this investigation.
I can pretty much guarantee that by the end of tomorrow, there will be at least one or two more reported deaths related to heinous crimes.
If anyone has the audacity to blame the USA of their crimes, perhaps it's time to look at Canada as well. Being a domestic Canuck myself, it appalls me and I am saddened by the fact that this seems to be an upward trend in the way in which our society is headed.
Pretty bad when the crown jewel of the country of Canada (Toronto) is now being referred to as "Murder City".
I think someone like Michael Moore had best do his homework before he starts out on his next film project and focus on a country better suited for "non violence" instead of Canada.
It's getting pretty bad here folks.
