A local American Idol-type thing has been going on in Philadelphia for the past month or so and a friend of mine Katie Del Bono was on tonight. She lost out by one lousy point during the judges voting, however she still has a shot as a wildcard voted in through the website. Follow this link upn57.com/gimmethemikevoting/ there are video clips you can watch to see how well they did. On tonight's show, Katie was the only one who sang anything remotely Rock with Melissa Etheridge's "Like The Way I Do". IMO, there was only one other contestant as good as Katie.....and the judges didn't pick her either . Anyways, I think we have 24 hours to vote, so if you got a few minutes to kill, follow the link, watch the clips (only a few seconds each) and give Katie a vote if you thought she rocked head and shoulders above the others....if you didn't think she was better than the others....don't vote at all . Katie Del Bono

Thanks everyone! Katie got the wildcard finalist spot! They will broadcast live Sunday from Atlantic City. Having seen Katie several times with her bands, I'm hoping maybe she'll sing "Son Of A Preacher Man" or "Me And Bobby McGee". She does both extremely well. Thanks again y'all!

Wel, I just got done watching the finalie and...........Katie didn't win . Actually, I'm not too pissed about that, there were 2 finalists that were clearly better singers than her. This chick was the winner. I thought she had the second best voice in the bunch. She was the 5th one to perform and by then I was sick and tired of hearing slow R&B ballads. She sang, yet another one, but sang it great. She showed absolutely no stage presence, but it was hard to knock her singing. This guy finished second in the judges voting. He sang Rod Stewart's "Losin' You". He gave a very energetic and spirited performance, but I thought his voice showed limitations while singing that song. He probably had the 6th best voice of the 6 finalists, not bad, but he wasn't in the same league as the rest IMO. That he finished second with the judges makes me think this might've been fixed . This dude finished third. Before he went on, he talked about how he liked to sing upbeat stuff.......then he went on stage and sang a ballad . But by the time he got to the chorus, I was blown away! He had the best voice of the 6 hands down IMO and SHOULD have won...or at least come in 2nd.

This chick had a good voice, but the song she sang was kinda lame. Slow, low-register R&B ballad. She sang it well, but not well enough to impress me...or the judges, she got 4th place. First of all, Katie got 45% of the vote for the wildcard spot! So again, thanks for any of you that took the time to listen to her video clip and vote for her ! Secondly, they said tonight that there were OVER 1,000 people who auditioned for this show and for Katie to come in 5th is quite an accomplishment. She must've read my posts here because she did sing "Me And Bobby McGee" and sang the SHIT out of it. I actually thought she oversang it a bit in the beginning, but she settled down and had the place rockin' after 4 straight ballads . Like I said, I thought she had the third best voice of the bunch, but gave the second best performance IMO. Depending how much you want to weigh singing vs stage presence, a case could be made that she shoulda won. Katie's a good friend and I love her voice, but I still don't know that I coulda chose her over the guy who finished third. This is the chick that beat out Katie during the semi-finals. She finished 6th here becasue she chose to sing a song that didn't really suit her voice too well. It required a low-register which she often sounded flat trying to sing. The judges really had to struggle to think of good things to say about her performance.
