As many of you on here know I have moved from Nebraska to Casper Wyoming. There is a great litte CD shop in downtown Casper called "Sonic Rainbow" It's one of those shops that has the good hard to find stuff and they're prices are easy on the wallet also. Since I have become seperated from CD collection this store has been a life saver for new tunes for me. They have a bargin bin of used CDs for $2.00 each. Last week I went in there and found 4 CDs in the bargin by The Galactic Cowboys brand new in their wrappers for $2 each!! I went home & listened to as many audio samples as I could and was very impressed. I went into the Rainbow yesterday and bought these CDs: The Horse That Bud Bought, Machine Fish, Feel The Rage and Let It Go. What a GREAT band!! They remind a lot of Kings X. Has anyone here in The Universe ever heard these guys also? And whats you're take on them if you have?

I love the first two albums, s/t & Space In Your Face, though I never followed up with anything after those two. I really liked them specifically because of the King's X influence. The bands shared the same management and producer, Sam Taylor, for many years. I guess one of these days I should investigate some of the later releases.

These two, the ones onering brought up are great. Kind of like The Beatles meet Metallica. Also another good band which shared the same management as King's X and The Galactic Cowboys was Atomic Opera. Similar style as the other two, only not as well known.

I actually think I may have a CD of them somewhere. I think I got it in a "prize pack" one time from a local radio station for calling in a request. I'll have to search my closets and see if I can find it. I don't think I EVER listened to it, cuz I hadn't heard of them.

Definitely have heard of the Galatic Cowboys. Actually, Monty Colvin (bass, vocals) is from my small Missouri hometown. Talented guy. He also did the strange (and very cool) artwork. He has had another band called Crunchy since around 2001. Their first CD was compared to Cheap Trick. It was very good...although nothing like GC. I was disappointed with their second effort...but they have a newer one out that I have not heard yet. It's supposed to be "heavier" and "back to roots"...but hey, aren't all new releases? The Cowboys were an excellent band. A little out there at times...but still immensely more talented than a lot of bands that are "household" names. Haven't listened to them in forever...but maybe I should.
