Robert Plant demanded a London bar stopped playing Radiohead, branding it "rhyming crap".
The Led Zeppelin rocker dislikes the melancholy five-piece so much he asked staff at Camden's Fifty Five Bar to change the record because it was ruining his night.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robert was drinking with a woman and didn't like the choice of tunes playing.
"Radiohead was on and he started complaining. He said, 'What's this rhyming crap?' "
However, when staff put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers instead, the 59-year-old was still unimpressed.
The insider added: "The staff were obviously keen to please so they changed their music. They put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who they thought might be more up his street. But he didn't like their stuff either and said it was like a 'nursery rhyme'.
"He then said he wanted to listen to Captain Beefheart, an American musician who was famous at a similar time to Zeppelin from the 60s to the early 80s."
Captain Beefheart, whose real name is Don Glen Vliet, was a musician and singer known for his surreal lyrics and harmonica skills.

While I love Zeppelin, and I think Plant has had a pretty fine solo career, he can be a bit of a dickhead. I HEARD him say on the radio (back in the early 90s) during an interview, something very similar to "one of the problems Zeppelin had among the critics was that we were compared to really bad, boring bands like Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, and Deep Purple". I couldn't believe my ears - why the hell would he feel a need to slam those bands? Since then, I've met two other people who heard the same interview, so I didn't imagine it.

I agree with him hole heartily of the radiohead crap. But Sabbath, Purple and Tull? Maybe he was just in a bad time since the glory days of Zepplin were no more?

"Robert was drinking with a woman and didn't like the choice of tunes playing.Perhaps he should have drank MORE, then? I don't think I've ever heard these guys before so I can't judge but what I just read of Plant's behaviour the word primadonna comes to mind.

I love Radiohead. OK Computer is as good as its made out to be by fans and critics. And "Fake Plastic Trees" off of The Bends is one of the most beautiful songs of the 90s.
After hearing their new single a few times, it has really grown on me. I plan on picking that CD up.
I think I remember Plant saying back in '89 that Faith No More was a great new band. If he was diggin Faith No More then, I think he would like the Chili Peppers. Not that I really care or know what trivial events took place that night...but something tells me he was just in a foul mood and would of called ZOSO crap if it came on. And when you are rich and famous, I bet those moods make you act even MORE like a diva. Like, I heard one time that Elton John called a hotel management to complain that it was raining outside and the thunder was too loud.
I know I've "been there" where everything kinda bothers me.

Hard to say about Robert. He seems to get into these moods a lot, where he dismisses things he used to like or love. He constantly said he'd NEVER get back together with Zeppelin again, calling them a "boy band" and he wasn't a boy anymore, then there he was at the O2. I think OK Computer is a really good CD, but it's not something I would listen to really. That being said, I could see how some of the music could sound like whining.

Plant's got as much right to bitch about the music being played as the rest of us do. The only difference is... When Robert Plant bitches about it...they actually change the music to try and please him. If you and I bitched about it...they'd probably just throw us out on our asses.

Got that right!
Usually, by the time I'm completely repulsed by whatever may be playing, I'm already on my way out... driven out... with explatives flying about what a bunch of degraded, gutter-trash, undeveloped, juvenile retards they are for playing THAT SHIT!

Or they would turn up the crappy music to irritate us

I like Radiohead. But I could see where some of their stuff comes off as whiny and annoying. I find it hard to believe that he made those remarks about Sabbath and Purple, seeing that all 3 bands share a kind of kinship and I always thought all of those guys were friends.
Deep Purple was anything but boring....

He's right. Apart from 'The Bends' [Radiohead's rock album] the others are total crap.
