Rumours are sparking that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl may get the job of Led Zeppelin drummer.
The group, who recently performed at a charity gig at the 02 Arena, are rumoured to go on a full reunion tour next year.
Even though Grohl praised Jason Bonham's drumming at the charity gig, he is apparently desperate to get the chance to drum with the legendary group.
An "insider" source told the Daily Star “While he loves playing with Foo Fighters, Dave would drop anything to be part of Zep’s shows.”

This story sounds like 100% bullshit. By all accounts, Jason did a great job, he's clean and sober, and has gotten nothing but praise from Zeppelin. Of course, he's also John Bonham's son. Why in the world would they consider anyone else?

This would put a big question mark on my seeing them...Dave Grohl doesn't compare even slightly to Bonham, Jason or John!
I hope this is a crap story....

Okay if this story is true........... Could it just be that because Jason is in Foreigner that maybe he is under some kind of contract that would not allow him to tour with Zep? But then again from what I understand from Mick Jones and Jason's relationship that I couldn't imagine Mick not letting Jason out of his contract to tour with Zep.
This is just me thinking out loud...

I think Grohl is a kick-a$$ drummer. I would be excited for him if Led Zeppelin chooses him. I also appreciate Grohl's love and admiration for rock's pioneers. John Bonham is my all-time favorite drummer and I like Jason however, I really think Dave Grohl is a very underappreciated & underestimated drummer. Jason is obviously a good fit because of his namesake and I would be equally as excited to see Led Zeppelin with Dave Grohl.

It would sort of piss me off if Grohl got that gig. Not really the right guy for the job. If Jason Bonham can't do it they should get Zack Starkey or Simon Phillips.
It would be great to see Bill Ward do it, because his drumming style was very similar to Bonham's, but not very realistic because of his health issues and I think he is still obligated to Sabbath.

I really wouldn't want to see anyone else but Jason behind the kit for Zep. Grohl's a decent enough drummer, but it's only right to have a Bonham on drums, especially since his style is so close to his father's.

They take something that's good and right and have to start screwing around with it. This is where things start to get stupid. Nothing against Grohl, but all I can say is, get in line because there is a world full of drummers that would give their right arm to drum for this gig! ;D If that's gonna happen however, then let the voting begin, and for what it's worth, and I get to have my say, then I vote for Mick Fleetwood to stand in for Bonzo! (See how silly this gets?). It shouldn't even be a consideration however and if the rest of the original Zep crew have any decency in them, they know damn well that Bonzo would have wanted them to go along with Junior for this event, just as they did for the one night stand that started all of this to begin with. Some things are better left alone when the chemistry is right the first time. Indicating the option for a possible replacement at this point is simply handing a can opener to all involved and saying "here, you wanna open up the can of worms"? If it's a contractual thing?...I'm sure they can work it out with Foreigner somehow?...Have them (Foreigner) tag along for part of the tour and hey...let the Foo Fight'n guy stand in for Bonham on Foreigners behalf. It's a win/win situation. I'm sure hotter heads will prevail however and if it does come to pass...they'll find a way to f*ck it up somehow...hahahahahahahahaha. Thanks Kim

Just a wild guess here in regards to whether Bonham might be in contract to Foreigner...if Zep tours, and Jason is needed, the Zeppelin machine will have more than enough money to pay Mick Jones to get him out of contract/ He's the only logical choice, stylistically and sentimentally speaking, and as far as I'm concerned, he's Zeppelin's drummer now.

I agree and see no other choice either...
Hey let's PISS off the masses and announce the tour with Dave Grohl as drummer!
Tickets would sell, but I think it would be less interesting...
