I think I'm finally recovering from my weekend of debauchery and Rock n Roll with Kid Rock in Milwaukee. Some friends and I went to go see Kid Rock and Puddle of Mudd at the world’s largest outdoor music festival Milwaukee’s Summerfest.
Puddle of Mudd was the opening act and was almost mediocre. I’ve seen worse but they were nothing special. The crowd pretty much ignored them until they did their 3 or 4 radio songs Control, Blurry etc. By the time Twisted Brown Trucker (Kid Rock’s band) took the stage I was pretty buzzed from 1 or 4 or 5 or so of Milwaukee’s Mineral Water Miller Lite The President of Beers. The way they came out was pretty cool. Someone, I’m not sure who (maybe Uncle Cracker) introduced them all individually. As they were introduced they did a solo on their instrument. So to start things off we were treated to a pretty solid searing guitar solo. They even had a steel guitar solo that was pretty cool but the highlight of the introductions was Stephanie Eulinberg the drummer. It’s odd enough to have a female drummer but this is a big black female drummer. She is pretty good and played a good solo. Kid Rock at one point in the concert also took each and every instrument and played solos on each. When he went to guitar he bust into some ZZ Top riffs. They played the usual favorites Ba Wit Da Ba, Cowboy, American Bad Ass, Feel like Making Love was pretty cool. He introduced it by saying he was gonna sing a song written by Paul Rodgers and one of the best classic rock bands of all time. He also did a pretty heavy rockin’ version of Free Bird. When he did picture the crowd was treated to the surprise of having Lean Rimes join him on stage. I’m not really what you would call a fan of Lean Rimes but it was cool having her come out and sing Sheryl Crow’s parts. She just happened to be there because Milwaukee’s Summerfest where Kid Rock performed Friday night just happens to be the world’s largest outdoor music festival.
I made it to a friend’s downtown condo by about 4:00 am Saturday morning. I got separated from my group at some point partying in downtown Milwaukee. Over all I’d give the Kid Rock show a solid 7 on a scale of 1- 10. The night as a whole I’d give a solid 9 for Rock n Roll and drunken debauchery.
