sabbath for me. the first 4 ozzy albums and dio's heaven and hell are classics. i like purple, but they didn't have nearly as many "classic" albums as sabbath imo.

I love Deep Purple...
however, Black Sabbath is more of an icon to the hard rock genre.

Sh*t...and I thought the Van Halen vs AC/DC was close... Sabbath for thier early stuff...and even with Dio. Purple for the long haul and more classic songs than any band could dream of... A draw...again.

A no brainer for me here. I was never into Sabbath, (although the Paranoid album was top notch).
Deep Purple all the way.
Thanks Kim

I'm gonna go with a draw on this one. Sabbath was definately more consistent, but Purple at it's best couldn't be beat. I loved the interplay between Blackmore and Lord. Also Ian Gillan is one of my favorite singers of all time. Sabbath are the Kings of metal and their albums are timeless. To tough to call.....love them both the same.
