Here's the premise...and please humour me on this one to an extent as it can't be any worse than what we have gotten shoved down our collective throats thus far on network tv.
Queen.
The remaining members of Queen are looking for a new lead singer...NOT to replace Freddie Mercury by any means, but to help them in continuing on with the music that the band collectively have come to know and embrace over the years...with perhaps someone that could help provide an additional ambiance that would take them in the direction that they may want to head into. This would include not only vocals, but song writing abilities and possibly instrumental talents as well.
Regardless of how they (Queen) elect to determine what is right for the band, it is not only up to the remaining members of the band to judge and or vote, but would need to bring in some additional "professional help".
In other words, if I were running the show, I would first want a panel of 3 illustrious peers to help weed out the undesirables that would initially proliferate the so called "talent call" and help to shorten the line up outside.
This being considered, each week, 3 "talented" hopefuls from the outside "line-up" would have the opportunity to perform 2 songs each and only 1 performer would then be selected to go on to the next round from each week...
...this would continue for 6 weeks.
Initial rules would allow for any first round contestant to perform ONE original Queen song if they so choose to do so, but would not be considered a prerequisite.
At the end of 6 weeks, the 6 selected finalists would then vie for the top spot with a continuance of 1 to an eventual 3 songs per set with 1 contestant being eliminated due to voting each week for the remaining 5 weeks.
Example:
Week 1 - 6 contenders - 1 song each
Week 2 - 5 contenders - 1 song each
Week 3 - 4 contenders - 2 songs each
Week 4 - 3 contenders - 2 songs each
Week 5 - 2 contenders - 3 songs each - Eventual winner.
Here's the kicker...the judges are NOT made up of the remaining members of Queen...but would be a panel of 3 of those considered well known and proven in the musical world...for the first round only!!!
At the end of 6 weeks...1 of the judges will be voted off of the panel by the studio audience and call-in audience as polls will be taken over the 6 weeks and numbers compiled as to just who is worthy enough to keep their seat on the judging couch!...so if DLR gets an initial spot on the panel...he'd best keep his wits about him or else! ;D
This will bring the judges down to 2.
The remaining members of Queen...are the HOUSE BAND!!!...and do not have a vote until the final 5 weeks rounds of voting,
Once one member of the judging panel has been dismissed...Queen will be collective in its count as 1 vote and would be the tie-breaker. (No worries about a tie within the Queen camp as there are 3 members, and as stated, counts as 1 vote).
Rules for eligibility...
Must be 21 years of age or older.
My question to you is...who would you folks like to see as "peers" on the judging couch?...keep in mind...Paula Abdul and Tommy Lee and Regis Kelly or David Hasselhoff are not options...let's get some substance here.
Thanks
Kim
