When you stop and think about it...it kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? Not just because of the music that you enjoy listening to but music overall. We all have genres or styles that we love and continue to play for our own enjoyment, but even then, there is music that we tend to like listening to even though we don't have "albums" of, but sounds or lyrics that we enjoy and can relate to. What is it about music that really gets to our senses? It's not only auditory stimulation...it's a physical and emotional issue as well, especially if turned up loud...you can feel it!...Hell!!! sometimes you can almost see it!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha. Bottom line though, even at moderate levels...what is it about music that gets to you? I know that it depends on the mood you are in but at the same time, there seems to be some underlying thing that tends to connect a person to what it is that they are tuned into at any given time. You folks know it...some days Led Zep just doesn't cut it does it???... yet slap on some ELP and the world seems to be your oyster???...why is that? I know that we as a species are also a "moody" lot, but also...there are times, regardless of our personal situation...a particular song will immediately "snap" us out of any given funk that we may be experiencing at the time and set the whole world rotating properly on it's 23 degree axis once again. Why does music do it to us!!!!!! ? Any thoughts? Thanks Kim

Great inquiry, friend.
I dunno...
But:
I could go on and on and write one hell of a book. I’ll make it condensed: When the shit hit the fan in my life, I did a self assesment before going off the deep end. At the time, I asked myself, “What is different now from when I was happy and care free?” It was quite clear...
1) I was estranged from my family 2) I was astranged from my old friends 3) I wasn’t listening to music any longer
Sheeit! Too easy! I reversed each situation in short order and fixed everything. Going out on the world wide web to find folks like you was one of the best things I’ve done for myself as an adult. You all are a huge part of a personal triumph of mine. I know that without those three previous mentioned things that I would have been worm dirt a long time ago.
...Oh yeah, Thanks folks!

I live by the minute...whatever I feel like listening to at the moment is what gets played. Nothing prepared in advance, as I've found that that doesn't work...so just go with the flow...
Of course, most of us here are the exceptions to the rule, not many people in the world can boast the music collections that allow us to do that.

Music soothes the savage beast. LIFE is the beast.

everybody likes some kind of music. it a part of my everyday life. i always find some time for it. not as much sometimes as others. espically when there are others around that are into the same kind your enjoying at the moment. sometime the right song can change your whole outlook on your day. i always try to be open to things musically. don't make to many hasty decisions.
