Which solo album do you think is best from a member of a major rock band?

Paul simon - Graceland
If you consider S&G as a rock band.
Bruce Dickinson - Chemical Wedding, if not.

Roger Waters(Pink Floyd) - Pros & Cons of Hitch Hiking
Ronnie Wood(Jeff Beck Group,Faces,Stones) - Gimme Some Neck
Johnny Thunders(NY Dolls,Heartbreakers) - So Alone
Ace Frehley(Kiss) - Trouble Walkin'
Joe Perry(Aerosmith) - I've Got the Rock & Rolls Again

I agree with Speedy's take on Ace Frehley .... ....and I'm gonna go out on a limb and nominate Gene Simmons' solo album titled, A**hole. Many Kiss fans hate this album as they must have been hoping for what would basically be another Kiss album, however, A**hole is pretty much exactly the kind of record I expected it to be. This album hardly sounds like Kiss at all. It is very eclectic. The same can be said about his 1978 solo album. I mean, why would Simmons do a solo Kiss record? There are more sides to this artist and the solo album is the right venue to showcase the other types of music he has written. I think this album is actually a very good one and it is a shame that hardly anyone bothered to buy it. I can't even find it in stores anymore .

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow from 1975.

In fact I usually like all of Gene's songs. I think that A**hole is funny, inventive and just damn entertaining. What else do you need.

David Lee Roth-Eat'em and Smile Bruce Dickinson-The Chemical Wedding Yngwie Malmsteen-Rising Force/Marching Out Rob Halford-Halford Joe Walsh-THe Smoker You Drink,The Player You Get/The Confessor John Norum-Slipped Into Tomorrow/Total Control/Another Destination David Gilmour-S/T first album
I would count the first Dio album and the Randy and Jake era Ozzy albums, but I sort of considered those band situations especially Dio.
The first Rainbow album is a band not a solo album. Blackmore stated the only reason his name was on the cover was for marketing purposes. He acknowledged that Rainbow was always a band...even though he would completely change lineups every so often.

I could have mention most of the early to mid 70's Paul McCartney stuff...but that was done with The Wings...which was a band...great stuff and 'Wings Over America' is one of my favorite live albums of all time.
