Anyone happen to catch John Fogerty's performance on PBS last week?
During their ongoing pledge drive, which seems to be a constant???...they happened to showcase Fogerty's live performance from September of 2005. I can't recall where it took place but it appeared to be a packed house judging from the audience.
Anyway, this one, differed from an earlier venue in that he was able to now perform some songs that he was not legally able to do previously.
I noticed stuff like Lodi, Who'll Stop The Rain and Up Around The Bend being performed. I have to admit, although the man is getting long in the tooth, he still puts on one helluva performance. The back up band was tight and precise as you could ever hope for and honestly, it was a tad better than the previous PBS display a few years earlier which I believe was entitled the "Premonition" tour and featured Mellancamps drummer Kenny Aronoff.
I found myself actually trying to see if there was any "lip syncing" going on because of the tightness of the entire gig, but from what I could establish, there didn't seem to be any of this happening.
I understand that the guy does not tour that much and I'd have to admit...given the chance, I'd check this one out in a heartbeat.
I was watching this at around 11 pm at night and actually found myself singing out loud to some of the songs...which is rare for me...especially when my sweetie is sleeping down the hall.
Seriously, John is truly on his mark with this one and maybe he's glad that he's now able to once again perform his tunes in public that makes it sound so great???...either way...it was pretty damned good!
Anyone else catch it?
Thanks
Kim
