2 years ago, I went to Moondance Jam not even knowing any .38 Special. I almost left when they took the stage. I stayed and I have never seen a better sounding live performance. No frills or pyro, just some good 'ol boys up there doing their thing, and it sounded better than anything they've put on tape.
So yes I'm excited, but I'm more excited to see them live again.

YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT THIER LIVE PERFORMANCE. THEY ARE ONE OF THE BEST LIVE ACTS AROUND. I SAW THEM PLAY FOR THE SECOND TIME LAST YEAR IN A NEARBY 4500 SEAT ARENA AT A SHOW THAT WAS VERY POORLY PROMOTED. ONLY 650 PEOPLE SHOWED UP. BUT THE GUYS IN 38 CAME OUT & PLAYED AS IF THE PLACE WAS PACKED. THAT REALLY IMPRESSED ME.

A very good band. Was just listening to them on the way to work this morning. Mr. Canuck really loves their music. Maybe when the CD is released I'll pick it up for him as a surprise.

When they first hit the big scene, I was sick of what the critcs screwed up by calling every band from the southern state's "SOUTHERNROCK"
I have seen .38 Special a couple times. And they are a kick ass rock and roll band that just happens to come from the the southern part of the United States Of America!! And thats what we Americans do best! KICK MAJOR ASS!!

I've seen 'em in the old days. They were big-time stand-outs.
Sure, bring on some new stuff.

I'd be more excited if their last release....uh....whatever it was titled, wasn't such a dissappointment. That said, they are, possibly, one of the best live bands you'll see even at this point in their career. Also, I have been extremely dissappointed with Marshall Tucker Band releases since the mid '80's, but I always seem to pick them up the minute they come out anyway and last week I got "Beyond The Horizon", I've only heard 3 songs, but they kick ass and remind me of every reason I've always loved MTB. So, in other words, I'll probably still buy the 38 Special CD and give it a fair listen, even though I thought their last one sucked cuz I always give the Southern bands benefit of the doubt .

Marshall Tucker Band were at Moondance the same time as .38 Special and they bit the huge one. My dad was a huge fan until this performance. I didn't get to see them but there were alot of dissapointed fans there.

I didn't get to see them but there were alot of dissapointed fans there. Doug Gray can't sing anymore, that's pretty much a given. On their new cd, I heard the first 3 songs and they were as such: A duet between Chris Hicks and Doug Gray, a song sung totally by Chris Hicks and a song sung totally by Doug Gray. Interesting that they wait until song #3 before you hear Gray sing a song by himself. I always thought they put on great show, but I'll admit, I haven't seen them since the addition of Tony Heatherly (I thought Tim Lawter was gonna be their bassist for life) and the reunion with former members Chris Hicks and David Muse. On the new CD Doug Gray, Chris Hicks and (other guitarist) Stuart Swanlund are all listed as lead vocalists.
