What commercials really bother you because they are starting to taint rock songs you like by using them to sell sh!t?
Here's the ones that I try to hit Mute on:
Now More than Ever- John Mellencamp- Chevy The Mountains Win Again- Blues Traveler- Busch Beer Alive & Amplified- The Mooney Suzuki- Suzuki
Thank God Busch stopped using Skynyrd...and I am staring to become so used to The Who in commercails that its not bothering me anymore (thats a BAD sign).

I didn't like Burger King using 'Double Vision' by Foreigner.
Everytime I hear it, I think of greasy burgers.

Anything using the Beatles is sacreligious. It's at its worst when it sells something that has nothing to do with the lyrics.
The use of "The Breeze" by Lynyrd Skynyrd for Rush Limbaugh's radio commercials was atrocious.
Although I think it would be very cool to use "I Think I'm Going Bald" by Rush for a Rogaine commercial.
I mean, think of how many cool ideas you COULD do instead of cheesy ones? "Bicycle Race" to sell Schwinn, "Peace of Mind" for Ritalin, the possibilities are endless.

Whitesnake's Slide It In for Durex Condoms. Hey, this is more fun!

I saw a commercial about some vehicle that used Paul McCartney's "A Fine Line" off of his new cd last night.

I say cash in boyz. It's cool to hear classic rock songs on tv even if it's on commercials. Let's face it, they work. If you write something and own it i say do with it what you will.

I don't have a problem with the artist making their decision to sell their song. But for me, personaly...it sucks. 15-18 years ago i LOVED "Like a Rock" be Seger...but now look at what it became. Good for Seger...bad for me.

I think these days, whatever gives real guitar based hard rock exposure is a good thing. I might've felt differently at one time, but it sure beats having rap being shoved down our throats on a constant basis. We get more than enough of that the way it is. If they can make some bucks off of it, more power to them. It's the music BUSINESS, after all Plus, while we've grown up with all these songs(most of us anyway), there's always going to be a lot that have never heard them before. If they go out and buy, (or download these days) the song, or album, who knows, it might be the beginning of some young rocker's musical awakening.

Are there any companies left that haven't used Born To Be Wild or Magic Carpet Ride. BTBW has just been beat to a pulp and has also been used in over 35 movies. I called a Chevy dealer today and their "on hold" music was MCR.

Ok, my brother went to a Bob Seger concert a few years ago, and when he played "Like A Rock," they lowered him from the ceiling in the bed of a Chevy pickup. That has to be the most crass thing ever. I like a lot of Seger songs, but I've taken to spelling his name Bob $eger because he's the biggest sellout of all time based on that alone.

I like a lot of Seger songs, but I've taken to spelling his name Bob $eger because he's the biggest sellout of all time based on that alone. Bob Seger refused initially to using his song on any commercial! He was approached by some GM auto workers and asked why he wasn't help to support keeping jobs in this country. He was told it could only help. He had a change of heart and decided to let it be used. At least this is his version of the story. As far as I'm concerned, I hope they use a classic rock song on every commercial ever. It just cements my personal feelings that I was privileged enough to grow up in the greatest era of music known. Because if this music still strikes a cord 20+ years later, there must be something to it.

I remember ANY WAY YOU WANT IT BEING on some car commercial for quite a while. I think a lot of people know that song nowadways, whether they know it's Journey or not, because of that add campaign.
