Hughes and Turner probably had the best voices of any Deep Purple singer IMO, but most of my favorite Purple songs were sung by Gillan, so I had to vote for him.

No contest...Gillan all the way.
I like the Coverdale / Hughes combo as well, but not as much as Gillan.

Of course I absolutley LOVE the classic DP lineup w/ Ian Gillan, however, I think the albums I enjoy the most are the ones w/ Coverdale & Hughes, not sure why, it just works for me I guess.

Gillan, then Coverdale. Glenn Hughes was good too, as was Rod Evans but Evans wasn't much of a powerful vocalist. JLT is a great vocalist, but I didn't care at all for 'Slaves & Masters' so he'd be my least favorite due to the songs on that album

JLT may be my favorite pure vocalist of the Purple singers, but "Slaves And Masters" flat out sucked IMO, so, unfortunately, that disqualifies him in the race for me.

I ACTUALLY DISAGREE WITH JESSE FOR ONCE. SLAVES & MASTERS WAS A GREAT ALBUM. NOT A GREAT DEEP PURPLE ALBUM, BUT THE BEST ALBUM RAINBOW NEVER MADE. IMO THE BEST JLT VERSION OF RAINBOW THAT IS.

Machine Head...nuff said...
In the day, and with the amount of great talent out there at the time... in my opinion, Ian was underrated.
Thanks Kim
