In 1996, Van Halen put out the Best Of Volume I. They had just parted ways with Sammy Hagar and were working with David Lee Roth again. This release features two new songs with Roth-Can't Get This Stuff No More and Me Wise Magic. I think both of these songs are very good. It was the "new style" Eddie with Roth's influence right in your face. This was the time for the big reunion. Roth still had it vocal wise and Eddie's guitar playing was inspired like it hadn't been in years. But then came that ill-fated MTV awards show-whatever one it was-and Roth made a total ass of himself. It was over, again, really before it got started. I still listen to those two songs often and wonder "what if". They missed their opportunity in my opinion. They were set to make some great music together again. Oh well.

I still have that recorded on VHS and it makes me sad that it never happened. I think Dave just got to happy to control himself. I kind of wonder if Eddie just made a little too much out of it though. We all know how Dave acts up.....That's all part of being a front man, sometimes you have to be your own Cheerleader..... and for the band. Rock Stars that are nuts are the ones talked about more than the sane ones. But "YES" Dave was being rude to Beck by doing that.
