i was reminded of this topic when dreamtide mentioned mojo nixon on uncle salty's mixtape thread. i remembered that i live down the street from him. anyway i thought this would make a cool discussion. here's the ones that i've had to good fortune to meet--
gene simmons (twice, the first time i actually met him through a mutual friend, imagine that! a crowning moment for me ;D)
donovan leonardo dicaprio kerry king
david lee roth (unfortunately, i was too young at the time to remember it. he recognized my mom through her work in the concert industry, talked to her for a little while, patted me on the head and called me a "little rocker" or something to that effect and went on his way)
dimebag darrell vinnie paul dave mustaine
...and as for you all?

Steve Perry (Journey) Tommy Aldridge Jimmie Vaughn (spoke with him for a few minutes and then told him how much I missed Stevie Ray and how much I thought of him) Jerry Mercer, Brian Greenway and Gary Moffatt of April Wine Members of other Quebec bands
Came face to face with Ozzy one time...I looked through the glass at the Montreal Forum to see if anyone was walking around the halls, and Ozzy, wearing a fur coat, comes running up to me at the window and throws his arms in the air as if screaming at me on the other side...that was cool...would have preferred to shake his hand though.

I met C. C. Deville in a hotel lobby in Milwaukee. OMG what was CC like in person and which hotel was this? LOL Me, I haven't met anyone famous. I think it's pretty cool hearing about people who do but for some bizarre reason even though I enjoy people's work and support them I don't feel the need to go out of my way to meet them. Or even if the opportunity is there. I'm like too shy. Seriously.

Have only met one, John Regan (bass player for Frehley's Comet and numerous others). He was very cool. It was at a KISS convention in Chicago. I saw Ace from a distance. He was a bit lit up.

AUGERI WAS A HELL OF NICE GUY. NEXT TO DEEN THE NICEST OF THE BUNCH. I MET STEVE IN OMAHA IN 1981 ON THE ESCAPE TOUR. WE WERE BOTH GOING INTO THE SAME RESTERAUNT TOGETHER. HE HAD HIS GIRLFRIEND SHERRI WHATEVER HIM HIM & SHE WAS A REAL SWEETHEART. SHE EVEN TOOK THE SACK OF VINYL ALBUMS OUT OF MY HAND THAT I HAD JUST BOUGHT. AND THEN GAVE ME CRAP (RAZZED IS MORE LIKE IT) BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY JOURNEY ALBUMS IN THE BAG. I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT I HAD ALL THEIR ALBUMS AT HOME & SHE LAUGHED & WINKED AND TOLD THATS OKAY THEN. AND THEN SHE ASKED IF ME & MY GIRLFRIEND WERE GOING TO THE SHOW THAT NIGHT. AND WHEN I SAID YES SHE TOLD ME TO ENJOY IT. WHEN I ASKED STEVE FOR HIS AUTOGRAPH HE ROLLED HIS EYES IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD AS TO SAY "GEEZ HERE SOMEONE ELSE BUGGING ME"

LAWRENCE WELK ............. I'M NOT KIDDING. HIS SISTER LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY GRANDPARENTS IN ABERDEEN S.D. WHEN WE'D GO TO VISIT HE WOULD BE THERE QUITE OFTEN & HE'D COME OVER & PLAY BASEBALL WITH ME & MY BROTHERS. IT WASN'T UNTIL LATER ON IN LIFE THAT I REALIZE WHAT AN INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR HE WAS.

STEVE PERRY ( WHAT AN ASSHOLE) Must have been a bad day....I met him the day before the opening day of the tour in Montreal and he was with his girlfriend (as you mentioned in another post), and when she realized we recognized him, she backed away and allowed us to approach him. He was very kind and polite and signed graciously. Asked us if we were going to the show the following night and my buddy and I said we were, and he said "Ok, we'll see you there"...no hassles whatsoever.

Jeeeeeez, I never thought of that....next time....oh wait...there won't be a next time as I don't ever plan to go see him again....anyway, even if I did, and something like this would happen again, Sharon would probably trip him or some other stupid thing before he got to the window...probably flip me the bird.

I'm with you HiFi, and besides if they are out in the public with their family, I wouldn't want to invade their family time....... If it's a meet and greet or you see the person and they make it apparent they don't mind chatting with you for awhile, that's cool. But I figure otherwise they're on their own time and deserve their privacy like everyone else. I swear, I'm like the antithesis of a groupie (the bad connotation of the word)! LOL!

Or even if the opportunity is there. I'm like too shy. Seriously. It's not like I was stalking him or even trying to meet him I was staying at the hotel. It was the Hilton in downtown Milwaukee. Before I lived here when I'd go to shows in Milwaukee I'd stay in a hotel or a friends. We had gone to the Poison show that night and went out afterwords. After the bars closed we were heading back to our room when I spotted C.C in the hotel lobby. He had drawn quite a crowd and was telling everyone he appreciated his fans and thanked them but he was really tired and hungry and just wanted to go to his room get something to eat and go to sleep. I offered him my sub sandwich which he took and walked away. About a minute later he came back and said I'm sorry dude I can't take your sandwich. I assured him it was alright I would just get another. He said he'd just take half because it looked really good. Then he said he's sign anything or take a picture with me anything I wanted. I told him I ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time and I already got that at the show. He told me people like me are the reason they keep comin' back and gave me hug and went on his way. He appeared to be very drunk.

besides if they are out in the public with their family, I wouldn't want to invade their family time....... Uhm......well, that's kinda how I met Accept's Peter Baltes. Saw him at the local fair with his family and went up and talked to him ;D. He was really cool, i got to meet his wife (sweetheart) and kids. The next year at the fair, he actually came up to ME. I didn't notice him until he walked right up to me saying, "Hey, uh.... Jesse, right?" Usually see him there every year, 'cept this year cuz I guess he was still in Europe with the Accept reunion.
