Okay...by mysterious magic , you now have the chance to have the talent of one musician bestowed upon you. You could sing like Steve Perry. You could paly guitar like Eddie Van Halen. You could play bass like Geddy Lee. You could..................... I would choose to play drums like Neil Peart. I personally think the man is the best rock-and-roll drummer ever (although several valid arguements could be made). But...I don't think there has been a better drummer that made it look so effortless. Peart can be up there doing a completely AMAZING drum solo, and the man looks... almost BORED. I mean, the least he could do is break a freakin' sweat! I always get the feeling that, no matter great he's playing, that he's holding back...like there might be something more...like he's not even giving it his full effort. As an aspiring drummer (once upon a time), I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to sit down and play like that. Sh*t...I could have practiced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a hundred friggin' years and not even been worthy enough to hand the man his drumsticks. And You?

I'd like to be able to play guitar and deliver vocals like Francis Rossi of Status Quo.
Nothing mind boggling here right?
Well, when you consider that although he may not be a virtuoso in either department, the sum of both talents combined, would be enough for me. I'd like to think that after 40 years of doing it, and the amount of fun he must have had and is still having would be desirable as a talent.
Considering that the guy is 56 and shows no signs of slowing down, being able to do what he does with a group as solid as Quo is and being able to work along side with the same band mate since the early 60's is admirable.
Combined, Rossi's vocals and guitar stylings are unique and endearing when you consider that their latest release has tracks reminiscent of the early days in the 70's. To not lose sight and focus of the kind of music you enjoy playing also weighs in heavily as to why this would be my choice. Nice to see that the band never gave into the trends for the most part. Pure proof that the fans of the early days can still relate to what they are still doing 40 years later. I know I'm hooked.
Not to push the album here but the latest release, "The Party Ain't Over Yet" is another fine example of what these guys can do. Personally, track 2 is worth the purchase alone. "Gotta Get Up And Go" is 100% pure fun and is comparable to Down Down and Mystery Song.
Sadly, North American audiences probably won't hear much or receive any airplay from a classic group such as Quo who have never really stopped doing what they love to do.
The one reason why I remain loyal to classic rock music is not because I like to live in the past...simply put, Status Quo never fails to deliver in bringing the past back into the present.
Not in a rock star category, but the other talent wish, would be to have Hugh Hefners' literary and business accumen. I mean, what better way to spend your work day clad in yer jammies, smokin' a pipe and stoppin' for sex breaks every hour on the hour? ;D
Thanks Kim

EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY PLAY THE BASS. I'D LOVE TO HAVE BILLY SHEEHAN'S TALENT. Billy Sheehan is probably the most amazing bass player I ever saw(although Stanley Clark is awesome).I used to go see his band Talas in the clubs alot.I really thought they were going to make it especially when I seen them open for AC/DC on the "If You Want Blood..." tour.Billy Sheehan's bass solo sounded like a lead guitar solo.I also seen Talas open for Iron Maiden & also they opened for the Joe Perry Project.Billy was always pretty wild onstage but when they opened for Joe Perry each member of Talas were only allowed about 3ft of stageroom & you could see they were frustrated. Also,Billy played uncredited bass on the entire Max Webster album "Mutiny Up My Sleeve" sorry for rambling on...

Being Rod Stewart would be cool, leaving the bad dog rumor/fact (?) out of it. The voice, the women, the lifestyle, and mostly how many years that he has been successful without a slump in his career. Same with Mick Jagger, leaving the gay rumor/fact (?) with Bowie out of it. Roger Daltrey....hummm ?

I am going to be practical and say the guitar skills of Glenn Tipton. Although I am pretty well accomplished on guitar I always thought Glenn had the most well rounded skills of any axeman in the metal scene. He can play melodic and chaotic. He can do the blues. I am eclectic as well in my skills but I'd like to be at his level.
If you mean something I don't have......great singing skills.
How about a voice like
DEREK ST HOLMES ROB HALFORD PAUL STANLEY FREDDIE MERCURY
or even Brian Johnson ;D

Yow, tough choice. I'd have to pick a singer since my singing sends our big malamute into hiding, or she starts howling muahahaha.
I'd love to be Robin Zander or Rob Halford, my two fave singers of all-time. Robin one day and Rob the next.
Edit: damn, it's too early to be spelling. Need more coffee.

NO THANK YOU.......... FOR RAMBLING ON BY ALL MEANS COOL STORY! What Frank said! I'm loving your "ramblings", rtbuck! Um, to answer the question I'd want to be a talented bass player but I'm hard pressed to come up with ONE name. While I respect some of the names that get mentioned I think ... don't laugh ... I'd actually want to sound like Cliff Burton or Duff McKagan (on AFD).

I suppose I would like to have the talents of one Sammy Hagar.
He can play guitar, he can sing, he can write songs, he has variety and that ol' fart can out-party any young pup in their early 20's!
