What album were you really, really disappointed with? The one that probably tops my list is Van Halen's 5150. When Roth quit Van Halen I thought "Oh man...this is the end of VH". And then when it was announced that Sammy Hagar was going to step in...I was like "Holy sh*t, Sammy f*ckin' Hagar is going to front Van Halen. I love Sammy Hagar. They couldn't have found anyone better. This is going to be SO kick ass." Right? Wrong. When I first listened to 5150, I was speechless. Nah, I must be too stoned...so I listened to it again. I know I had to have a f*cked up look on my face this time. I listened to it again. By this time I'm getting pissed. Where are all the killer tunes? Is THIS the best they could do? THIS is what I've been eagerly anticipating? I just couldn't understand it...and I still don't. Van Halen was kick ass. Sammy Hagar was kick ass. So why was the combination of the two so completely BORING? I have never found the answer. All I know is, I have never been so disappointd in a band as I was with the "new" Van Halen. How could it possibly be any worse? It had to be a fluke. Yeah, that's it...they just had a bad start. They just need time to "gel". Okay, that's cool. Damn...I was getting pretty worried for a minute there. Whew...what a relief! And then...OU812 came out.

Velvet Revolver was a big dud for me. I expected a lot more from the talent in that band.

A few years ago there was a band called the Neurotic Outsiders that featured Steve Jones(Sex Pistols),Duff Mckagan,& Matt Sorum & it wasn't a bad cd but not what I expected. Also a few years ago Angel(who I loved in the 70's)put out something new,I bought it & was disappointed with it.

Brave New World from Styx disappointed me alot. The original Styx back together to do a CD together! All Right!! Wrong!!! DDY worked on his songs alone in Chicago, while JY and Tommy worked on theirs in LA. That's getting back together? DDY gives up four of the most embarrassing, outdated, and cringe-worthy shmaltzy songs of his career (Hip Hop-Cracy ). Tommy and JY had a few songs with some real promise, but their egos wouldn't allow them to let DDY do what he did producer-wise to make them "real" Styx songs (it sure couldn't have hurt). So what we get is the worst release since Cornerstone (which was a really huge disappointment after four great albums in a row). Big disappointment. This was when I decided I'd rather see DDY go do his own thing, and forget about "the classic" Styx lineup once and for all.

Heart's "Jupiter's Darling". It was pretty clear what Howard Leese used to bring to the table as far as producing and arranging goes. Good vocals, ok guitar work, some really good song ideas, but nothing really cohesive and no hooks to bring you back for another listen. Their first new studio album in 12 years sounded more like a local band's first shot at a demo.

This bands first CD is one of my all-time favorites, then they released the second album and it sounded like a totally different band.

KISS - PSYCHO CIRCUS. Not that it was a bad album.....but I expected something else. In fact when I heard the title track I REALLY couldn't wait for the cd. The rest of the tunes were good to bad. Nothing great.

A lot of Deth fans will probably beat me over the head for this, but I followed the band from almost the very beginning and loved each album they put out. But when CTE hit the shelves, I dunno what it was, but it really disappointed me. After that I sorta wandered away from them and didn't rekindle the fire again until last year. I do appreciate CTE now since I love the diversity of their catalogue (Risk, Cryptic Writing, etc). Maybe I was just some immature metal head who couldn't appreciate them for trying something different. Anyhoo, I'm sure glad I do now. I love every album they've put out.

Nothing great. I liked "Psycho Circus" and I was really excited when it was released. The big disappointment for me was when I found out that the majority of the songs were actually played by Gene, Paul, Tommy Thayer & another ghost drummer. Nothing against Thayer, but when this album was promoted as being performed by Gene, Paul, Ace & Peter, then dammit it should have Ace & Peter playing on all of the songs. That was my disappointment

I LOVED "Countdown To Extinction", but "Youthanasia" was the album of theirs that lost me........only to come back to it years later and appreciate it.

That album doesn't sound finished to me, there are no guitar solos on any of the songs, bland as hell.

Back in the day I would say it was Hot Space from Queen. Anxiously awaiting the release of a new Queen album with new songs and ... that thing. My copy on vinyl still looks fresh off the record rack because I've never played it except once, maybe twice to make sure!
Of the newer releases I'd have to go along with the people who've mentioned Velvet Revolver - Contraband. 'nuff said.
Also I found Brides of Destruction pretty disappointing.
