I voted no preference because as long as I like the music who cares if it's male or female.Joan Jett is one of my all time favs(I have every cd she released). There's a new band called the Dresden Dolls(features a female vocalist)that are pretty cool. They're kind of different sounding with a female vocalist/keyboards & a guy drummer. They both wear white face & are very theatrical.

You said "generally", so I said Male...that doesn't imply I don't like female singers....I just think that in some cases female singers don't work.

Female.
BTW-I consider Geddy Lee, Steve Perry, Brad Delp, Rob Halford, Ralf Scheepers, Jon Anderson, Rik Emmett, Micheal Kiske, Geoff Tate, Sebastian Bach, Bruce Dickenson and Robert Plant (among others) to be female, cuz most duel-testicled men can NOT sing that high.

I went with no preference, as long as they are good vocalist's I could care less if they are male or female. Some of my favorite female vocalists are Ann Wilson and Joan Jett

Male. I like alot more music with male leads.
I think great female rock singers are few and far between, for my tastes anyway. Stevie Nicks, Nancy Wilson, Pat Benetar.... are the exception to the rule IMO.

I'm not normally so sexist but I really do prefer guys singing in rock bands.

No preference here. Sure, we have all listened to more rock music with guys singing but that's because more guys sing rock music. Man or woman if you can belt 'em out go for it.

I love'em both ! Depends on what kind of music. I must admit, I haven't been able to get into hard rock bands with female vocalists.
Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Christie McVie, Janis Joplin. My life would not be complete without these goddesses !
